Buyer beware - it's nothing close to the original
I discovered this powder by fluke during my trip to Ulta yesterday. Was actually going in to try and snag one of the last original formula powders I could before 2.0 came out. Unfortunately, I was too little, too late. Since this was already on the shelves, though, I figured I'd give it a try. ...

Comments about N4.5
I have been using Studio Fix since it very first came out, I'm guessing over 25 yrs. I always LOVED it. The shade I used was NW20. Now I bought and tried N4.5. AWFUL. The only plus was that its very light feeling on the skin. VERY drying and I can see lines on my face where I NEVER saw any lines. I HATE this formula. I know this was all to eliminate the talc in it. I've heard more negatives than positives about the new formula. I'll say that if the majority of those that used the old formula for years and now switch to the new, there will be lots of returns. All these returns become huge monetary losses to the company. As such, MAC will have to change the formula yet again. So disappointed in this formula. Now I have no idea what I am going to do about foundation. PLEASE DO SOMETHING to help the situation for all. I am also a PRO member for over 20 years, and I can say that I will no longer tell the make up artists on sets to use this. Just awful.
So disappointed in new formula

I have been using MAC Studio fix powder for more than 25 years. I always received compliments on my skin and makeup. This new formula is awful. Sits in pores and dries in them and leaves a dried out cakey appearance. Powdery and leaves dust all over the counter. If talc was so bad why did it take over 25 years to fix it. MAC has lost me as a customer.
So incredibly disappointed…

I have been wearing MAC Studio Fix powder for at least 10 years. I went to reorder and saw the formula had been changed. I ordered my color according to what the color chart said. I wore this powder for the first time unknowingly to me, to my surprise 40th birthday party. I look yellow/green in all of the photos, the makeup oxidized, caked up, and absolutely looked horrible. I always get makeup compliments and didn't change anything other than this powder. I would gladly pay more for the old formula if this change was about money. I'm sad because I've always been a Mac fan.. but now I might as well just go buy $5 makeup somewhere because that is the exact result I got from this product. Also while I am at it, I'm still mad you took Phloof! eyeshadow away too. Why!!!!!!!!!??????
So glad I tried despite reviews!
I am so impressed by this powder. It's exactly what I was seaching and hoping for in a powder foundation. It's blurring and mattifying wihtout being cakey looking. It really just looks like airbrushed skin. The oil control is definitely NOT 24 hours but that's not a deal breaker for me. I couldn't be happier that I ignored all the reviews for this new formulated powder. I honestly never tried the old formula but I don't miss it. This powder is 10/10 for me!
Skin Prep is the KEY with this new formula!

I like this new formula so much better than the previous. No talc/white overcast in pictures. I followed their color shade recommendation to go down a shade from my normal one of old formula & it matches me perfectly. The key to this formula going on smoothly & working flawless on the skin is all in your PREP! Moisture & hydration is key beforehand, if you have issues with the application switch up your skincare prep routine first before giving up on this. I'll use this alone when I want an easy coverage makeup day, or over my liquid foundation to set it & add more coverage for a full glam day. Works great under eyes to set concealer too if you don't want to fuss with loose translucent powder. This will be a regular in my makeup lineup for sure!
