A few pro tips before you color: Your hair doesn't need to be squeaky-clean, but it should definitely be free of heavy styling products. (They can coat the hair and block the color from working to its maximum.) Hair color and activator should be at room temperature before mixing. Love your linens? Feel free to use a darker towel and pillowcase after the first couple of washes to keep them protected from any color transfer. If your hair is chemically straightened, relaxed, or permed, we recommend waiting two weeks to color after your last chemical treatment.

This makes going grey a game changer!
This year I made the decision to grow out my greys. It started with putting my MR subscription on hold for 3 months. Then a few weeks ago I saw my stylist to have all of the color past my new grow out bleached. Over the past two weeks I've been getting used to it being blond but really just wanted t...

Turned Out Really Nice
I want to preface this by saying that I am in my 40s and have never dyed my hair before. My hair is getting very gray, and I wanted to try something temporary to see if I wanted to stay gray or go back brunette. I bought the latte light brown color. Now, part of what happened is my fault because I think I took too long applying it (since I didn't know what I was doing), and I left it on for 10 extra minutes, but it turned out really really dark and all my gray hair looked kind of red— very much so in the sun. I tried to strip it with dawn dish soap and dandruff shampoo, and it didn't really work. So I decided I'd just live with it because people were actually complementing me a lot even if I dosnt like it. But… I will say after about a month, it faded to the absolutely most beautiful color. I love it so much. I would definitely not say this is Demi-permanent because it's been three months, and it never faded all the way or even close, but I'm going to do my hair again because the color it turned out as is just so pretty. It's such a nice light brown and all my gray looks like golden highlights. I really love it. It also made my hair very soft afterwards, so that was a plus as well.
did absolutely nothing
I've used Madison Reed hair dye products before and been fine, had good results. Use the shade espresso yourself 4N to cover my natural roots that were coming in after getting my hair done at a salon. The color did absolutely nothing even though it was dark enough to match my professional color. Was highly disappointed because the dye isn't cheap and it didnt even slightly darken my roots. Followed the directions and everything, very disappointed.

Another day, another drama! This one brought to you by Ulta Beauty & Madison Reed. First of all Ulta Beauty continues to be sub-par in their stocking & shipping, The 1 item I originally ordered scheduled to arrive on 1/29, did not arrive until 2/2. Which may not seem like a big deal in the grand scheme of things. But, when that 1 thing is the hair dye you need so you won't be a gray haired bitty at a function on 2/3, I'm going to split hairs. I wouldn't have bothered with shipping if any of my 3 local stores had 2 in stock. Just not as bad as Madison Reed ColorWonder. In my 30+ years of coloring my hair have I ever encountered such a horrible product. Don't get me wrong, the end resulting color is "okay". But, not before running all over the place and dying everything it came in contact with that was not hair ORANGE!!!! Namely, my scalp & bathtub. Then we can talk about how my hair feels like a birds nest that was left out in our current weather. Not good, at ALL! Absolutely awful! Furthermore, "Better Off Bronze"? One of us must be colorblind & it clearly isn't me. The included shampoo and conditioner smells awful & did nothing to help how my hair feels. So if you are in the market to color your own hair, steer clear of this Madison Reed ColorWonder product. Because what you'll be wondering is, how long is this mess going to take to clean up, what color will my hair be, when will my hair not feel like straw again, & is there anyway to get my money back? For the price, spend a few dollars more and get it done professionally, this was not worth the hassle at all.

Love it !!!!!
Made my hair fall out

The color was ok, but not worth the amount of hair loss I've experienced since using it. Probably wouldn't use again.
