Most Helpful Positive Review I've been using this for 18 Yrs; I'll Never Switch I've been using the Bare Minerals Original Foundation since 1999 and I will never switch back to a liquid foundation or a different foundation ever again. Since 1999 I can say that I've had a handful of breakouts--it that. I have health issues and I often find myself sleeping (taking naps or sleeping overnight) in my makeup and, like I said, it has RARELY caused a breakout. So basically, I can sleep and sweat in it and not have to worry about clogged pores. I think this is the best foundation on the market.
Also, I think this is the most natural looking foundation on the market. I get a lot of compliments on my skin. Part of it, I will admit, is due to genetics. But the other part is due to the Bare Minerals Original Foundation. Once you find your shade, people won't know you have foundation on. Oh..it'll cover your flaws..but it won't be obvious. Your skin will still look natural looking. That's how good this foundation is. Trust me! And it doesn't take much either to get the coverage you need--so this stuff will last you a long, long time!. I love this stuff!
Most Helpful Critical Review BareMinerals RUINED my Skin: PLEASE READ Back in January, I started using the BareMinerals Original Foundation. I was hooked, instantly! Super easy to apply plus it felt great on my skin! Shortly after starting this foundation, I started experiencing horrible breakouts. I'm not talking a small pimple here and there during your period. I mean those under the skin, painful cysts. Because of these embarrassing pimples, I continued to buff this stuff into my skin, more and more each day, watching my acne get worse. Unaware that my new foundation could be the cause, I continued using this for a few months, still getting horrible cysts. My doctor prescribed me Epiduo AND and oral antibiotics. NOTHING was working. Finally, I decided to do some research into BareMinerals. I was shocked when I found page after page filled with information on why this is some of the worst stuff for your face. Type in "BareMinerals causing acne" into Google and do some research. I urge everyone to look up the facts about this foundation before buying it, ESPECIALLY if you have sensitive, acne prone skin (mica and bismuth oxychloride are used in this product). Bismuth oxychloride is a known skin irritant, which is funny because the reason I tried this is because the brand markets itself as all natural with no skin irritants! Don't make the mistake I did. Now that I've discontinued using anything BareMinerals, the cysts have decreased dramatically. Don't be fooled with this stuff!

I have been using this product for several years and like the ease of application and the great coverage it offers. It also lasts all day. The color is a good match to my complexion. Weather working inside or recreating outside the foundation always looks good.
Have been using this for years 5

I'm 59 and have been using this foundation off and on for years. I had switched over to IT Cosmetics CC cream (which I still like) but switched back to this one summer when my oily skin was being a problem. Yes, somehow I'm still oily at 59 - which I guess is good since I am just now starting to get lines around my mouth. I find that the Bare Minerals sets much less into these lines than the CC cream or even the Il Makiage liquid foundation that I just bought.
How I use this: I first put on serum, moisturizer (Sunday Riley Good Genes) and then Murad Invisiblur. I then take a dense, flat ended foundation brush (mine's by IT cosmetics), pick up just a small amount of foundation, and instead of buffing, I tap it into my skin. That seems to do a better job of disguising pores. I follow up with a little IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores powder and if I have to wear a mask that day, I finish off with the UD finishing spray which keeps the mask clean. The finish looks great and I can't really tell I'm wearing foundation (at my age I check everything in a 10x magnifying mirror to make sure I'm not looking like a clown!) This for me performs better than any liquid foundation, and I used to be a MAC makeup artist so I know what I'm doing application wise. Love it!

I first tried Bare Minerals in the late 90s after seeing it on TV and was supremely underwhelmed. It was cakey and thick and with one drop of sweat made me itch so much that I wanted to scratch my face off.
Fast forward several years and I've tried Bare Minerals Original again, after studying articles & videos on application - and now I'm in love. First, I've found I can avoid the itch by beginning with a primer. Bare Minerals Original does contain Bismuth, which some people are sensitive to. Primer before adds a barrier that has stopped the itching for me. Regarding application, it's all about technique and not using too much product! Swirl, tap & buff...and buff...and buff! That buffing the key to an even, flawless finish with Bare Minerals, as it really does help the powder blend with the moisture on your face and not settle into lines and pores.
I blend 3 shades to get the color that works best for me, but Bare Minerals is quite forgiving and easy to match to individual skin tones.
If you're on the fence I'd say give it a try - if you're not happy, reflect on your technique before you decide this is not the makeup for you!

I've tried many foundations but keep coming back to this one. It's for all skin types if you use the brush properly. My esthetician said this is the only foundation she recommends.
40's dry skin worked pretty good. Was surprised 4

First time using powder foundation. I usually use moisturizing since I have very dry skin and fine lines. I've recently been diagnosed with skin allergies so I'm trying new things. I was surprised by this. I wore concealer in certain areas and used a damp sponge to apply the powder. I'm keeping it and will continue to try it. It basically set my concealer for a great all-day finish. It didn't settle into my lines as bad as some liquid foundations do. I was pleasantly surprised.

I recently came back to Bare Minerals after using liquid Tarte foundation for years. I couldn't be happier with my switch. I have fairly oily skin, but I also get dry spots in my t zone. When applied correctly, this goes on soo smoothly and really looks like skin. It's controlled my oil so much better than any liquid foundation (I also use a cheaper setting powder), plus my nose and forehead don't get that dry/flaky look. Definitely my regular foundation now.
Yes I love just like liquid foundation great for changing u 5

Best foundation yet! 5

Tried after my favorite Tarte foundation was disco'd. Love that is has SPF in it, and is lightweight and buildable. It took me a couple tries, as I've never used a powder foundation before, but I love how silky it goes on and my skin feels fresh all day. My skin is sensitive and acne-prone, and this hasn't caused redness or breakouts at all. I recommend getting the Beautiful Finish brush, as it makes application way easier.

I switched to this powder foundation after having used liquid foundations my entire life, and I don't think I'll ever go back. It looks so much more natural, feels lighter on my skin, and is faster for me to put on. It also stays surprisingly well when I wear it to the gym.

I've been using Bare Minerals for about 6 years. I've found over time that It only works well with the Bare Minerals Primer and the Urban Decay All Nighter Primer. Both pretty costly but I think the UD one is more bang for your buck. I notice that my acne heals up when I don't wear it for extended periods, (when I've had to quarantine is when I bag to notice). Before then, I just thought it was my skin. I've tried countless products but didn't realize it was the makeup I was using to cover up that acne. Asides for that, this stuff does not last throughout the day, I almost always end up touching it up on my lunch break. And I get splotchy oily spots on my nose causing more breakouts. It also doesn't last long, not only day to day but the life of the product is short. I go through one of these in a few months. That means I'm spending about $160 a year on foundation.. a friend of mine said her foundation is a little expensive, ($42, so about the same price) but lasts her a whole year. I would MUCH RATHER spend $42 for a whole year and not deal with excessive breakouts, splotchy coverage, and short-lasting foundation. All in all, I've done the research and I am telling you don't waste $100s of dollars on this product, or any of the Bare Minerals foundations for that matter, because I've literally tried all them and I'm still giving it a 1/5.
Great foundation 5

I used BM years ago and switched to liquids for a few years. Just switched back to BM and I won't go back! I don't break out as much, it looks more natural and doesn't settle in my winkles and lines. I don't know why I ever stopped using it!
I wanted to love it but not. Didn't cover uneven skin tone. 3

I like Bare Minerals a lot and think it is a better and more natural look than liquid foundation. What drives me crazy is that all Bare Minerals products look the same as far as the black cap packaging and impossible to tell one from another without reading the bottom. That is very annoying, and I think they should do some kind of color coding with the containers.
The best! 5
Sarah Tall Wall from Hanford, Ca
This stuff is classic. One container lasts me 4-6 months with everyday wear. I've tried other foundations for fun to see if something else is out there, but always come back to this. I've also just recently started the mineral veil as well to just my forehead, chin, and under eye to set my make-up and wow what a difference! I will always be a loyal bare minerals fan!

Got this as a gift for my mom and she loved it! Matched her skin and blended in well so it didn't look obvious that she had foundation on.

I discovered this item over 10 years ago & it is perfect! Liquid is SO bad for your skin making clogged pores worse! This is amazing & great any season, any time!
What happened??? 1

I've used bareminerals for 15 years. Over the last year or two I've noticed the quality has gone downhill. I no longer buy Mineral Veil since it started having a pink tint to it, and now this foundation looks and feels no different than drugstore mineral makeup, which is basically just powder that sits on top of your skin. Also, when did medium beige become orange??? I'm so upset with this purchase.
Perfect match 5

I love this powder mineral foundation! Perfect shade without having to mix shades!
