So impressed - comparable to $$$ brands
This stuff is so flippin' impressive! I decided to try it during a bogo 50% deal. I have used the Vitamin C serum and decided to try this retinol serum when restocking (retinol is otherwise known as Vitamin A). I am super impressed by the noticeable difference in my skin texture in the morning. Sinc...

Wanted to love but ruined my skin
I have struggled with hormonal acne for years now, but nothing besides some returning pimples that, looking back, were more of annoyance if anything. Having LOVED Mad Hippie's Vitamin C serum and recieving a sample of this Vitamin A serum within my package, I figured I'd give it a shot and see if this would be the miracle product the reviews claimed to be. Oh my, was I wrong. To be frank, I had experimented with the DHC cleansing oil a month prior which had given me horrible cystic pimples and a messed up barrier. I applied this serum every other night, alternating with The Ordinary Niacinamide serum on my "off" days. The first night I had a beautiful glow and my pimples seemed smaller. Every use after furthered a nightmare of my own design. My skin is so messed up even 4 months later; I cant use any actives (even my old products that never caused me ant issues) without my skin burning, becoming red and inflamed, or breaking out in terrible little whiteheads and even MORE cystic pimples on my jaw! The left side of my face is now covered in rough, bumpy skin that refuses to smooth over. I had high hopes for my first retinoid seeing as I had experince with AHA/BHAs, and that this formula was supposed to be gentle enough for people like me. So disappointing and I really miss the way my skin was before I used this serum. Buy at your own risk.
Fantastic for acne
This stuff is the real deal. When I stop using it, I have acne. When I use it, I don't. Staple in my routine.
Great product
I use this on my off days of prescription retinol (I can use that only twice a week) and it works great as a gentle yet effective retinol.
Great
I didn't realize how good this was until I tried another brand.

- Q
Could you describe the viscosity (thickness) of Super A Serum? The serum in the bottle that I purchased is so thick that the dropper is virtually ineffective.
- Asked by Samantha
- Official Answer By Mad HippieThe Super A Serum has a thick, somewhat creamy consistency. This is primarily due to the combo of the three retinols + bakuchiol. To help with dispensing, we recommend slowly squeezing and slowly releasing the rubber top; these extra few seconds give the serum time to suction into the glass pipette. It might take a bit of practice, but this tip is very effective. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Without giving away any of your proprietary formulation, does the percentage of the bakuchiol extract fall within the 0.5-2% range that's been shown to be clinically effective?
- Asked by Jen
- Official Answer By Mad HippieThe Super A Serum is formulated & clinically tested to visibly improve signs of aging such as a loss of firmness or elasticity, fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration. It contains three bioactive retinoids at clinical levels: HPR, retinol, and retinyl linoleate. Bakuchiol, a plant-sourced active that acts like a retinoid, works beautifully alongside the retinoids to deliver marked results to sun-damaged and aging skin. In clinical trials for the Super A Serum, 100% of users reported smoother, healthier-looking skin, with zero irritation after 8 weeks. Our goal when formulating is to deliver the best results we can achieve without causing irritation to the average user. We don't rely on single active formulas - we choose complementary ingredients to enhance results. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can i use this on my forearms for wrinkles and dark spots?
- Asked by Kat
- Official Answer By Mad HippieOur products are formulated for the face and neck, though you’re welcome to use them on your arms as well. We recommend applying sunscreen daily, as exfoliants like vitamin A can increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun.Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can this product be used with the Triple C night cream ?
- Asked by Dawn
- Official Answer By Mad HippieIn general, using vitamin A alongside our Triple C Night Cream works well for most people, but if you have sensitive or reactive skin, we encourage patch-testing first to ensure the combo works well for your skin. You can also alternate nightly between them. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
can i use the super a, vitamin c and the corrective peptide serum in conjunction?
- Asked by naya
- Official Answer By Mad HippieThe actives in these formulas can surely coexist in your skincare routines! For best results, we recommend using our Vitamin C Serum & Corrective Peptide Serum in your morning routine and saving retinol-based products such as the Super A Serum for nighttime. This allows each formula to work optimally without the potential risk of irritation. Was this answer helpful to you
