- Step 1: To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. This is because our semi- permanent dye shows up best on level 9 or 10 light blonde hair. You can use DYEposit in Platinum to pre-tone the hair to remove any yellow tones.
- Step 2: Squeeze your color into the GDY Biodegradable Tool Kit. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
- Step 3: Do a strand test on a piece of hair in the lower back portion of your head before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look!
- Step 4: Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
- Step 5: Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
- Step 6: Rinse very well with cool water only. If desired, use Color Kind Wash and Rinse to remove any residual dye. Shampoo and conditioner are not required, however.
- Step 7: Style your freshly dyed locks just the way you like.

In general, pastel shades tend to fade faster, as they have less pigment load. If I have level 7 light brown hair, can I use Rose Mocha to make it a darker brown?

Since Rose Mocha has a significant amount of red undertones in it, putting it over a natural level 7 hair will result in a dark plum/cherry cola. Semi-perms are non-oxidative direct dyes, meaning they only deposit color onto the hair shaft, versus a permanent or demi-perm that penetrates the hair shaft. Works on brunette hair!
Bought this & the arctic fox one in hot pink and test dyed both. I wasn't very hopeful since i have darker brunette hair. Let it sit for a few hours then washed it out in the shower. I will preface this by saying i had 6-8 month old highlights so was able to cling to that to dye! Says it washes out in x anount of washes but its been 4 full months and its still in! So many compliments on it - both when I did it and now that it's grown out! I really want to get another color to try
A new favorite dye brand
I've used kawabunga, Rose Mocha, and All in This Together so far and they've all lasted about two months while washing with warm water doing my version of the curly girl method (so not washing every day and using a cowash a lot.) arctic fox, manic panic, and iroiro don't last as long in my hair, but everyones hair is different. I dye over bleached hair, usually after a shampoo but no conditioner, and on dry hair. if I'm doing the same color/color family/depth I don't bleach I just let it fade and go over the old and it looks great both ways. This does stain my face for the first few weeks where I sweat (but so does arctic fox) and I make sure to have designated hair towels because it stains (but again, they all do.) color wise, this brand has colors that really work for my vibe and my skin tone (fair olive neutral.) the smell is subtle and kind of like fruity pebbles. its thicker, and I fins I need more vs other brands. I wish ulta carried more of their colors.
Permanent Hair Dye
Ive used may semi permanent dyes this WILL NOT COME OUT OF YOUR HAIR. Its been month and my hairdresser cant even get it out with developer.

Yall its a semi.. not perment ofc it isnt going to last longer than 2 weeks.. i recommend this if your a person who loves switching colors here and their !

bleached my roots to do ghost roots and only some of it stuck :( blue ruin is pretty where it works but you have to use SO much and it didnt stick to my base at all
