- Step 1: To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. This is because our semi- permanent dye shows up best on level 9 or 10 light blonde hair. You can use DYEposit in Platinum to pre-tone the hair to remove any yellow tones.
 - Step 2: Squeeze your color into the GDY Biodegradable Tool Kit. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
 - Step 3: Do a strand test on a piece of hair in the lower back portion of your head before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look!
 - Step 4: Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
 - Step 5: Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
 - Step 6: Rinse very well with cool water only. If desired, use Color Kind Wash and Rinse to remove any residual dye. Shampoo and conditioner are not required, however.
 - Step 7: Style your freshly dyed locks just the way you like.

Does this dye unprocessed virgin hair at all or is this just for dyed hair? thanks
 - Asked by southerngirl33
 - Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand EngageThanks for reaching out. PPL Eater is one of our more pigmented shades. On unprocessed adult hair, you can expect to see vivid color on hair as dark as Level 6, and it will result in a purple eggplant shade. As always, we recommend a strand test. Was this answer helpful to you

Hi! I have dirty blond hair and wanted to know how long it will take for PPL eater to fade completely, what colors it might fade too, and if it will bleed on my clothes and / or other fabrics?
 - Asked by O-Quary
 - Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand EngageThanks for reaching out. The results depend on a few factors, including hair porosity and your exact starting level. PPL Eater will be most vivid and truest to the shade model on levels 7-10. Dirty blond hair would typically fall under a level 6 to 7, and would result in a purple tint. Our dyes are formulated to last up to 24 washes. To avoid color bleed, we recommend rinsing with cool water to help lock the color in.Was this answer helpful to you

I have blonde hair but not platinum blonde hair and I wanted to use the stoned pony color how long should I set it in my hai for it to be pigmented. Also will it turn out still light purple
 - Asked by Beauty hair
 - Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand EngageThanks for reaching out. Stoned Pony is part of our Lighter Daze collection, and works best on hair that is a pre-lightened to a Level 10.Was this answer helpful to you

Hello! I have virgin blonde hair and was wanting to do some pink highlights for the summer. Is this semi-permanent hair dye easy to come out? I don't want it to be stuck in my hair forever.
 - Asked by Ava
 - Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand EngageGood Dye Young's semi-permanent colors are made with salon-grade pigments, and will last for 16-24 washes. Some of our more pigmented shades, like Ex-Girl, may leave behind a slight halo of tint beyond 24 washes. The results of hair color removal and fading vary from person to person. Pink Puff is our pastel pink, and may leave a slight color payoff on your natural blonde hair, but will have the fastest fade out for you. If you need to fade your color FAST, you can try these helpful tips: Use clarifying shampoos. Scrub your hair in hot water for best results! Vitamin C treatments: mix vitamin C powder with your shampoo, apply to damp hair, let sit under heat for around 20-30 minutes, and rinse. This should start stripping color out of the hair without opening the cuticle. Was this answer helpful to you

I have dirty blonde hair with highlights and got the color "Blue Ruin". How long should this last on my hair?
 - Asked by Parker
 - Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand EngageThanks for reaching out. You can expect to have vibrant results for 16-24 washes with the shade Blue Ruin. Vibrant hair color will show up best on pre-lightened hair, si you will see more color payoff on the highlighted strands of hair. If your natural hair is dirty blonde, your base most likely has orange-y undertones, and Blue Ruin will be a dusty dark blue on those areas. Blue dye molecules typically penetrate the cuticle and last, so you may not see the color fade out fully. Was this answer helpful to you

Please bring more GDY to Ulta!
I absolutely adore Good Dye Young and it's my go to for colorful hair. I just wish more shades were available along with the hair care products (I love the scrub)! I must say though if you're having issues with longevity then I would recommend looking into hair care tips for direct semi permanent dy...

Inconsistent Application | Out in 1 Wash
Envious of the reviewer who said theirs wouldn't wash out - mine did after 1 wash (Matrix color safe shampoo) T_T after also applying unevenly on my hair (waited required duration - 35 - 40 mins) ✊ the uneven part wasn't too big of a deal - looked cute it if would have stayed put, albeit weird since...

"Live, Laugh, Love" is a terrible name for this color...
...but the actual product is SO GOOD. It was used directly on light brown hair and it looks as vibrant as if I had bleached it first (which I didn't). I've never used such an effective semi-permanent dye before.
i can only speak for the pink
i have tried multiple different hair dyes for pink hair, arctic fox, iroiro and probably more. i think this is def the best PINK hair dye i've used i had been loyal to iroiro and still think it's a great dye but this one fades so nicely and not only does it fade nice it takes FOREVER to fade. as someone who washes their hair pretty frequently for it being dyed i think does a great job at maintaing the color. it also has a really good amount of product :3
I love it!
I love PPL Eater and Blue Ruin. Lasts in my hair for 4 weeks before a touch up is needed. I am an everyday hair washer, so I was surprised at how long it lasted and how nicely it faded into a soft pastel. Pictured is PPL Eater on level 10 Blond hair. I leave in for around 2 hours for richest color results!
stuck for 8 months as a blonde, stained green.
