- Step 1: To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. This is because our semi- permanent dye shows up best on level 9 or 10 light blonde hair. You can use DYEposit in Platinum to pre-tone the hair to remove any yellow tones.
- Step 2: Squeeze your color into the GDY Biodegradable Tool Kit. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
- Step 3: Do a strand test on a piece of hair in the lower back portion of your head before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look!
- Step 4: Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
- Step 5: Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
- Step 6: Rinse very well with cool water only. If desired, use Color Kind Wash and Rinse to remove any residual dye. Shampoo and conditioner are not required, however.
- Step 7: Style your freshly dyed locks just the way you like.

Not worth it
I got this for my daughter because she wanted pink hair. It didnt dye anything or show up at all after following the directions precisely.
Baddie - Extremely Disappointing
This color is nothing like what is advertised. My hair is a level 9 and it was the smallest hint of pink after leaving in for over 2 hours.
Stuck to everything except my hair :)
This stuff stained my shower, my nails, my hairline, my scalp. Didn't do anything to my hair except leave a tiny bit of pinkish tint to it. I'll be going back to Arctic Fox

i LOVE this dye! the box says to leave in for 30 minutes, but i do it for an hour or longer and it lasts so long! i get lots of compliments. i've even washed my hair about 8 times since i've colored it AND IT'S STILL VIBRANT. i guess it can be annoying if you're not a person that's commited to your decisions! (;

Hair Type Wavy Hair
It has a nice smell but when you apply it, it hardens the hair and made me think it was about to fry my hair. But once I washed it, my hair felt nice and soft. You definitely have to have platinum hair for you to get that vibrant color because my hair had a little orange in it and it didn't show thru. But I would buy again.

Will the Blue show up my dark hair?

Good Dye Young Semi-Permanent color does not use any harsh chemicals like hydrogen peroxide or ammonia to change your hair color. It acts as a stain, taking the scariness and damage out of dying your hair. In general you can expect the following results from our blue dyes. Blue Ruin: can be applied to levels 5 through 10. On levels 5-7, Blue Ruin will appear as a dark blue that's more visible in the sunlight. This is our most pigmented blue. Dream Big: can be applied to levels 3 through 8. Will it cover grey?

Some semi-perm our colors may add a tint to grey hair, but for the most part semi-permanent dye does not cover grey hair because cuticles tend to be closed. Semi-permanent dye molecules are larger and will sit on the outer portion of the cuticle if not pre-lightened, resulting in a less vibrant color. The farther the dye is pushed into the cuticle, the more vibrancy and longevity it will have. Pre-Lightening natural or virgin hair before a Good Dye Young application allows the cuticle to open so the dye molecules soak into the hair better. We understand that pre-lightening might not be your preference. If that’s the case, we recommend colors like Ex-Girl, Narwhal, PPL Eater, Dream Big, and All In This Together on your virgin grey hair for a less-vibrant final result.Was this answer helpful to you

How many bottles would I need for my full head?

We do have recommended starting levels for each shade, so you can find a shade that can work over your current level. If you are considering lightening your hair, some lightening products can dry out your hair depending on the hair's health when you start the lightening process. Our Lightening Kit it formulated with conditioning ingredients like Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil, and Soy Protein that help keep hair feeling soft, strong, and nourished.
