    How To Use

    • Step 1: To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. This is because our semi- permanent dye shows up best on level 9 or 10 light blonde hair. You can use DYEposit in Platinum to pre-tone the hair to remove any yellow tones.
    • Step 2: Squeeze your color into the GDY Biodegradable Tool Kit. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
    • Step 3: Do a strand test on a piece of hair in the lower back portion of your head before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look!
    • Step 4: Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
    • Step 5: Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
    • Step 6: Rinse very well with cool water only. If desired, use Color Kind Wash and Rinse to remove any residual dye. Shampoo and conditioner are not required, however.
    • Step 7: Style your freshly dyed locks just the way you like.

I absolutely adore Good Dye Young and it's my go to for colorful hair. I just wish more shades were available along with the hair care products (I love the scrub)! I must say though if you're having issues with longevity then I would recommend looking into hair care tips for direct semi permanent dy...

Inconsistent Application | Out in 1 Wash

Envious of the reviewer who said theirs wouldn't wash out - mine did after 1 wash (Matrix color safe shampoo) T_T after also applying unevenly on my hair (waited required duration - 35 - 40 mins) ✊ the uneven part wasn't too big of a deal - looked cute it if would have stayed put, albeit weird since...

    Would buy again

It has a nice smell but when you apply it, it hardens the hair and made me think it was about to fry my hair. But once I washed it, my hair felt nice and soft. You definitely have to have platinum hair for you to get that vibrant color because my hair had a little orange in it and it didn't show thru. But I would buy again.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

color bleeds but i find it worth it

i've been using the shade riot for about 3 years now. i looove how bright it is (i bleach my roots every few months) and how it doubles as a hair mask, which helps a lot after a bleach. now this product bleeds after every shower for like a week no matter how long you rinse, but i have dark towels and love the color and conditioning qualities too much to ever give it up. highly recommend if you're committed to colored hair

    Did not like result

I was super excited to get Rock Lobster to do red dye on myself. It came out in a color I liked, however it made my hair feel very waxy afterwards, like I just put wax in it. I tried to do red highlights in my light brown hair but it just looked like I tried to dye my whole head and missed a lot of hair. That might be user error, but I don't think I would buy this again.

I used Rock Lobster on my lighter brown hair for highlights and it came out this beautiful dark shade of red. Not to mention it came off my skin with barely any rubbing. I love the result. 10/10 would reccomend for even a little color.

New Baddie color does not stick!

I was so excited to use the new color baddie after using Ex Girl for years and I will be the first to say how much I love this brand but I am extremely disappointed in this color. After spend over $100 on bleach developer toner and the dye I am left with terrible looking hair.

    Q
I used this a couple years ago and it was great! But recently, I'm experiencing hair loss from anemia. Would using this on my hair be safe, since it's gentler than traditional dye?
    Asked by Kells
Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand Engage
While we do create our dyes with natural ingredients, we recommend you consult your healthcare provider before using any hair color if you're experiencing hair loss. You can reach out to us for specific product info, if they need any ingredient details. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
Has anyone used this on grey hair?
    Asked by Kay
Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand Engage
Some semi-perm our colors may add a tint to grey hair, but for the most part semi-permanent dye does not cover grey hair because cuticles tend to be closed. Semi-permanent dye molecules are larger and will sit on the outer portion of the cuticle if not pre-lightened, resulting in a less vibrant color. The farther the dye is pushed into the cuticle, the more vibrancy and longevity it will have. Pre-Lightening natural or virgin hair before a Good Dye Young application allows the cuticle to open so the dye molecules soak into the hair better. We understand that pre-lightening might not be your preference. If that’s the case, we recommend colors like Ex-Girl, Narwhal, PPL Eater, and All In This Together on your virgin grey hair for a less-vibrant final result. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
So, my hair color appears to be a dark brunette or chocolate brown base with subtle, warm-toned caramel or light brown highlights woven throughout. Would I just dye it with the red, or would I have to lighten it to make it visible, for highlights?
    Asked by Sofia
Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand Engage
Hi there, if your highlights are pre-lightened, you can expect some color payoff on light brown hair with our red shades like Rock Lobster and All In This Together. All In This Together will create a beautiful cherry cola red. Rock lobster will be a soft pinkish red.Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
How long will it last in tiny streaks on thick, bright blonde bleached hair?
    Asked by Angela
Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand Engage
Color fade varies from person to person, but in general, darker colors tend to last longer than lighter shades because they have a heavier pigment load. If well taken care of, GDY color can last between 16-24 washes. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
hiiii how long does the color usually last?
    Asked by maddox
Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand Engage
Semi-permanent color will lat 7-24 washes, depending on several factors like your hair's starting level, the color you use, hair porosity, and how you care for your color. In general, pastel shades tend to fade faster, as they have less pigment load. To extend the life of your color, we recommend you wash with cool or cold water, always use color-safe shampoo and conditioner, and avoid over-using hot tools. Was this answer helpful to you
