Key Ingredients
- Blend of five ceramides (np, ns, ap, eos, eop) - lipids that help maintain skin's natural function, reduce moisture loss, and protect against dehydration, irritation, and signs of aging
- Lipids (fatty acids, cholesterol, & squalane) - support skin's natural moisture barrier - to help seal in moisture and provide a barrier against external aggressors
- Ceramide precursors (caprooyl phytosphingosine + caprooyl sphingosine) - molecules that work to encourage ceramide production and receive new ceramides
- Lactic acid - helps remove dead skin cells, allowing skin-like ingredients to better absorb while increasing natural ceramide production

Is the gluconolactone used as an exfoliant in this?
- Asked by Lauren
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Gluconolactone is a very gentle exfoliant that’s a polyhydroxy acid (PHA). PHA’s are related to AHA’s and are often referred to as new generation AHAs. Besides providing mild exfoliation, it’s also a humectant and offers antioxidant properties. It can improve barrier function and boost the efficacy of other ingredients. It’s a great option for those with very sensitive skin who are unable to tolerate more common exfoliants like glycolic (AHA) or salicylic acid (BHA).Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
If using with a retinoid cream, should this serum come before or after the retinoid?
- Asked by Mac
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! You can apply the ceramide barrier serum after retinoid. Let the retinoid dry down before proceeding with any subsequent steps, such as serums and moisturizer. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Is this similar to the drunk elephant intensive hydration serum?
- Asked by Similar
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Unfortunately we cannot advise on comparisons between our products and those from other brands - sorry about that! That being said, our ceramide barrier serum is a universal hydration and skin barrier support serum formulated to lock in moisture, protect against dryness, and calm the appearance of irritation. It's dermatologist tested and designed for sensitive skin. We hope you give it a try!Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can I use this product with Perioral dermatitis or will it cause more inflammation?
- Asked by Hopeful
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Unfortunately, we don't have products specifically targeting treatment of Perioral dermatitis. Using lightweight unscented products would reduce the potential of triggering Perioral dermatitis so because of that we recommend using our electrolyte water cream! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
How often should this be used?

Just Okay
I've been using this product regularly (at night I'm about 2/3 through my bottle) and follow the instructions. I use the raspberry toner (which is amazing for breakouts btw!), let it dry a tad and then apply the ceramide barrier serum followed by the polypetide moisturizer. I honestly haven't notice...

Nice Serum!
I have sensitve, reactive, acne prone skin and this is a nice serum! It does contain a small amount of lactic acid, which may be the culprit to some burning consumers may experience, but what works for me is hydrating my skin before applying . I use the cocokind magensium spray and then a milky toner like Bubble cosmic silk and it doesnt burn and leaves my face soft and clear.
Not for sensitive skin
I have always loved this brand and never had any reactions to any of their products before. That's why I confidently picked up this serum. My skin is very sensitive and prone to clogged pores, but I've learned to manage it well over the years. However, after using this serum for a week, my pores became extremely clogged, bigger and I started breaking out badly. At first, I thought it might be caused by something else, but after stopping all other products and trying only this serum, it became clear that this was the cause. I'm honestly disappointed, as I adore Cocokind, but unfortunately this serum did not work for my sensitive, reactive skin.
Best Serum I have used.

I have been using this product for over a year. This is the first serum that I have liked. Most serums stay sticky on my skin. This one absorbs and feels great.
A Little Goes A Long Way
For a small bottle it packs a punch, the smallest amount of drops is alot more than it looks. One drop is enough to cover my forehead, nose and under eye. I have dry acne prone skin and this really hydrates me. I've incorporated this serum into my night routine together with the Good Molecules retinol cream and Inkey List caffeine eye cream.

This is so hydrating and plumping. I have very dry skin but also am prone to fungal acne. I use this and the water moisturizer and they're amazing!
