Q
Is the gluconolactone used as an exfoliant in this?
Asked by Lauren
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Gluconolactone is a very gentle exfoliant that’s a polyhydroxy acid (PHA). PHA’s are related to AHA’s and are often referred to as new generation AHAs. Besides providing mild exfoliation, it’s also a humectant and offers antioxidant properties. It can improve barrier function and boost the efficacy of other ingredients. It’s a great option for those with very sensitive skin who are unable to tolerate more common exfoliants like glycolic (AHA) or salicylic acid (BHA).Was this answer helpful to you
Q
If using with a retinoid cream, should this serum come before or after the retinoid?
Asked by Mac
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! You can apply the ceramide barrier serum after retinoid. Let the retinoid dry down before proceeding with any subsequent steps, such as serums and moisturizer. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this similar to the drunk elephant intensive hydration serum?
Asked by Similar
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Unfortunately we cannot advise on comparisons between our products and those from other brands - sorry about that! That being said, our ceramide barrier serum is a universal hydration and skin barrier support serum formulated to lock in moisture, protect against dryness, and calm the appearance of irritation. It's dermatologist tested and designed for sensitive skin. We hope you give it a try!Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can I use this product with Perioral dermatitis or will it cause more inflammation?
Asked by Hopeful
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Unfortunately, we don't have products specifically targeting treatment of Perioral dermatitis. Using lightweight unscented products would reduce the potential of triggering Perioral dermatitis so because of that we recommend using our electrolyte water cream! Was this answer helpful to you
Q
How often should this be used?
Asked by Anna
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! The ceramide barrier serum is sensitive skin-friendly and is suitable for daily use in the AM and/or PM. We recommend listening to your skin and adjusting as needed because everyone’s skin is unique. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can I use ceramide barrier serum after trentinion cream and then apply moisturizer?
Asked by MBC
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Our ceramide barrier serum and resurrection polypeptide cream are excellent products to pair with your active (retinol) in your nighttime routine, offering enhanced firming benefits from the cream's polypeptide technology and providing hydration and barrier support through the ceramide serum. Follow up with our daily SPF during the day to avoid sun sensitivity. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Would I use this product after other serums?
Asked by Courtney
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Yes, the ceramide barrier serum should always be the last serum in your routine. This is to make sure that the skin absorbs all the benefits of the serum/s and lock them in with the ceramides after. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Does this product have an expiration date or is it good forever like Vaseline
Asked by Nikki
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! In general, our products have shelf lives of about 12 months after opening and 2 years unopened. On the bottom of every product box, we list a POA (period after opening) symbol. It should look like a little open jar with a number and the letter M (months). This will help you determine how long each product is good for after opening. Storing them in a cool, dry place, tightly closing the lid, and using clean hands to obtain the product, always helps maintain the integrity of the shelf life. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this product non-comedogenic?
Asked by JJ
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Our ceramide barrier serum is formulated for all skin types, including sensitive and breakout-prone skin! There is actually no FDA regulation for the term “comedogenic." In fact, there are no standardized tests that can accurately determine if an ingredient will or will not clog your pores or cause breakouts. Skin health is completely individual and dependent on genetics and lifestyle choices, including skincare! Was this answer helpful to you

Q
I love this product and have been using it to help repair my skin barrier. My question is, how long do I use it for before I know my barrier has healed? Do I stop using it at any point? Or do I make this a part of my permanent routine? Thank you!
Asked by brighteyedgirl
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! You can make the ceramide barrier serum a permanent part of your skin care routine. Anyone can use this serum although ceramides are especially beneficial to those with a compromised barrier from things like exposure to extreme environments (hot/cold), over exfoliation, irritation, or sun damage. Additionally, around the age of 30, the extracellular matrix composition naturally changes and produces a lower percentage of ceramides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids. As a result the skin barrier is weakened and more prone to dryness and irritation. A ceramide product, like our ceramide barrier serum, can help replenish those ceramides. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can I use this with the Cocokind Postbiotic Acne Serum? And if so, which should I use first? Thanks!
Asked by Ash
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Yes, you can use the ceramide barrier serum with the postbiotic acne serum although it isn’t necessary. We recommend purchasing the serum that best matches your biggest skin concern - acne or barrier support. If you would like to use both serums at the same time, we recommend applying the acne serum first because it’s lighter than the ceramide serum. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Will i recive more of the product benefits if i use this product at night or during the day
Asked by hailey d
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Our ceramide barrier serum is suitable for daily use in the AM and/or PM. To get the best results, use this after cleansing and toning, and before moisturizer. Gently massage or pat 2-3 drops of serum onto skin. Then allow to dry for 1-2 minutes before applying other products. We also always recommend using SPF during the day.Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can you use this serum in the same routine as peptides and epidermal growth factors?
Asked by Skincare Nerd
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Our ceramide barrier serum is a great option for layering on after actives to soothe, hydrate, and provide skin barrier support! To be safe, we recommend patch testing the products together before applying them all over your face as each person can react differently. Additionally, we always recommend following up with sunscreen during the day for optimal protection. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
I am wondering if the percentage of lactic acid (0.57%) is okay to use daily? With retinol? With retinaldehyde?
Asked by Ky
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Our ceramide barrier serum is a great option for layering on after actives to soothe, hydrate, and provide skin barrier support! Lactic acid is often thought of as an exfoliant, but it’s actually a multifunctional ingredient that performs differently depending on the amount used. We use a small amount of lactic acid (under 1%) in our ceramide barrier serum and its main function is a pH adjuster, which helps with the overall stability of the formula. If lactic acid is used at a higher percentage, then it typically functions as an exfoliant. Since lactic acid is in our ceramide barrier serum at a very low percentage, the serum can be used comfortably with other actives. For extra safety, we recommend patch testing products together before applying them all over your face as each person can react differently. Was this answer helpful to you

Just Okay

I've been using this product regularly (at night I'm about 2/3 through my bottle) and follow the instructions. I use the raspberry toner (which is amazing for breakouts btw!), let it dry a tad and then apply the ceramide barrier serum followed by the polypetide moisturizer. I honestly haven't notice...

This serum felt so lightweight and comfortable to pair with my moisturizer. It was extremely hydrating and plumping to the point where I could see instant results within days. Its also a milky consistency and didnt leave that sticky feeling after it dried down! Perfect especially for wanting that boosted skin support!

This is an amazing serum, I love how moisturizing it is. I like to use it before I put on retinol, and it actsas a nice little buffer for my skin since sometimes retinol can feel a little harsh on my skin. I didn't realize there was a jumbo version so will have to check that out since I go through this so quickly.

Texture & Scent: Light, creamy serum with a silky finish feels instantly soothing going on. No noticeable scent, which is ideal for my sensitive skin. How it works with other products: I layer it after the Chlorophyll Discoloration Serum and before the Electrolyte Water Cream, and it fits seamlessly into both my morning and evening routines. No pilling, no residue just hydration and calm. Results: This has been a game-changer for my compromised skin barrier. Redness is reduced, tightness is gone, and my skin feels noticeably stronger and more hydrated. Its especially helpful after retinoids or exfoliating treatments. Irritation or Sensitivity: As usual with Cocokind, NO irritation. In fact, it calms irritation. This is the product I reach for when my skin needs a reset. Would I repurchase? Absolutely. Its a must-have for barrier supportand proof that you dont need to spend $50+ to get a ceramide serum that actually works.
