Key Ingredients
- Blend of five ceramides (np, ns, ap, eos, eop) - lipids that help maintain skin's natural function, reduce moisture loss, and protect against dehydration, irritation, and signs of aging
- Lipids (fatty acids, cholesterol, & squalane) - support skin's natural moisture barrier - to help seal in moisture and provide a barrier against external aggressors
- Ceramide precursors (caprooyl phytosphingosine + caprooyl sphingosine) - molecules that work to encourage ceramide production and receive new ceramides
- Lactic acid - helps remove dead skin cells, allowing skin-like ingredients to better absorb while increasing natural ceramide production

Is the gluconolactone used as an exfoliant in this?
- Asked by Lauren
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Gluconolactone is a very gentle exfoliant that’s a polyhydroxy acid (PHA). PHA’s are related to AHA’s and are often referred to as new generation AHAs. Besides providing mild exfoliation, it’s also a humectant and offers antioxidant properties. It can improve barrier function and boost the efficacy of other ingredients. It’s a great option for those with very sensitive skin who are unable to tolerate more common exfoliants like glycolic (AHA) or salicylic acid (BHA).Was this answer helpful to you

Is this similar to the drunk elephant intensive hydration serum?
- Asked by Similar
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Unfortunately we cannot advise on comparisons between our products and those from other brands - sorry about that! That being said, our ceramide barrier serum is a universal hydration and skin barrier support serum formulated to lock in moisture, protect against dryness, and calm the appearance of irritation. It's dermatologist tested and designed for sensitive skin. We hope you give it a try!Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can I use this product with Perioral dermatitis or will it cause more inflammation?
- Asked by Hopeful
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Unfortunately, we don't have products specifically targeting treatment of Perioral dermatitis. Using lightweight unscented products would reduce the potential of triggering Perioral dermatitis so because of that we recommend using our electrolyte water cream! Was this answer helpful to you

Does this product have an expiration date or is it good forever like Vaseline
- Asked by Nikki
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! In general, our products have shelf lives of about 12 months after opening and 2 years unopened. On the bottom of every product box, we list a POA (period after opening) symbol. It should look like a little open jar with a number and the letter M (months). This will help you determine how long each product is good for after opening. Storing them in a cool, dry place, tightly closing the lid, and using clean hands to obtain the product, always helps maintain the integrity of the shelf life. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Is this product non-comedogenic?
- Asked by JJ
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Our ceramide barrier serum is formulated for all skin types, including sensitive and breakout-prone skin! There is actually no FDA regulation for the term “comedogenic." In fact, there are no standardized tests that can accurately determine if an ingredient will or will not clog your pores or cause breakouts. Skin health is completely individual and dependent on genetics and lifestyle choices, including skincare! Was this answer helpful to you

I love this product and have been using it to help repair my skin barrier. My question is, how long do I use it for before I know my barrier has healed? Do I stop using it at any point? Or do I make this a part of my permanent routine? Thank you!
- Asked by brighteyedgirl
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! You can make the ceramide barrier serum a permanent part of your skin care routine. Anyone can use this serum although ceramides are especially beneficial to those with a compromised barrier from things like exposure to extreme environments (hot/cold), over exfoliation, irritation, or sun damage. Additionally, around the age of 30, the extracellular matrix composition naturally changes and produces a lower percentage of ceramides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids. As a result the skin barrier is weakened and more prone to dryness and irritation. A ceramide product, like our ceramide barrier serum, can help replenish those ceramides. Was this answer helpful to you

Can I use this with the Cocokind Postbiotic Acne Serum? And if so, which should I use first? Thanks!
- Asked by Ash
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Yes, you can use the ceramide barrier serum with the postbiotic acne serum although it isn’t necessary. We recommend purchasing the serum that best matches your biggest skin concern - acne or barrier support. If you would like to use both serums at the same time, we recommend applying the acne serum first because it’s lighter than the ceramide serum. Was this answer helpful to you

Just Okay
I've been using this product regularly (at night I'm about 2/3 through my bottle) and follow the instructions. I use the raspberry toner (which is amazing for breakouts btw!), let it dry a tad and then apply the ceramide barrier serum followed by the polypetide moisturizer. I honestly haven't notice...

Burns
This should NOT be marketed as a barrier repair product because it has lactic acid in it which exfoliates. This made my skin burn SO bad when my barrier was already in need of soothing repair. Will be returning it.
amazing serum
i love this serum !! no irritation to my face, super thick, absorbs really well, and my skin barrier feels and looks so juicy afterwards
I will buy this again
Had damaged skin barrier and this has definitely has helped repair it and not caused me to break out. Love this product! Pairs well with everything I have.

Been using it for 3 months now, use it first thing after cleansing my face. It's very light weight and penetrates my skin easily. I do have to use at least three drops to cover my face before I apply moisturizer so the bottle only lasts me a month if that. I do have days where my face reacts to an ingredient creating redness on my sensitive skin.
