Most Helpful Positive Review The BEST root touch-up!
My medium brown highlighted hair grows fast. I usually have 80% gray hairs showing within two weeks of getting it professionally colored, the majority being where I part my hair. I have tried ALL of the well-known permanent root touch-up brands, only to be disappointed. Both of the most popular ones I have tried turned my gray roots orange. I figured I would give L'Oreal Paris Magic Root Rescue and I'm so glad I did. It completely covers my gray roots and it blends well with my hair color. I leave it on for a full 20 minutes to ensure coverage. In the past, I have used a level 5 root touch-up for my hair as this is the color level recommended for my hair color. I changed to a level 4 for dark brown hair and it works much better than a level 5, it is not too dark at all. If you've tried everything with not so good results I suggest you give L'Oreal Paris Magic Root Rescue a try. I attached a picture, the lighting in my bathroom is not that great and there's a lot of reflection but hopefully you can see the coverage.
Most Helpful Critical Review Clumsy and Wasteful Applicator
I love Loreal products in general, but sorry, this one needs some improvement. The rather rigid applicator bottle is hard to squeeze so the product doesn't flow out evenly but in spurts and spits. That made application difficult for me, plus it's impossible to get all of the product out of the bottle so some is wasted. But worse, despite leaving it on my hair for at least 15 minutes, it didn't cover my gray anywhere near as well as its competitor, Clairol Root Touch-up, which I have been using for about 2 years. (Maybe it isn't the formula at fault for this so much as it is the clumsy applicator bottle, I can't be sure. A big difference in the two brands is that Loreal says shampoo after, Clairol says no need to shampoo, simply rinse the product out. Perhaps shampooing right away removes too much product so there isn't as good coverage??) I do love the conditioning effect of Loreal Root Rescue, but then that's not my primary goal when coloring gray, so on that note, I can't recommend this product. I will go back to my tried and true, easy to mix, easy to apply, Clairol Root Touch-up, which uses an open tray and brush rather than a hard-to-squeeze stiff bottle. (Loreal might be a worthy contender if it weren't for that stiff applicator.)

It made my grays red. It has a very strong smell even after a few days.

I tried this to quickly cover up the stubborn root greys I missed with my usual hair color. The brown shade turned my roots orange! Don't try this 10 minute method.
Didn't cover grey
Lisa from San Jose
I'll never buy again. Didn't cover my hair. Also, wasn't enough product to cover roots.
Was perfect for my grandma!
Gabby from Massachusetts
I got this for my grandmother since she was thinking about covering some of her grays. She has super short hair so basically covered her whole head. There is enough product to cover white and gray roots! It was actually a super close color match and it ended up looking pretty natural. Overall if she's happy I'm happy.
Saves me between colors
Mille from Salt lake
I love using this along my hairline in between salon colors. Covers my white hairs great so I don't have to go into the salon so often.
I would use this product again!

I wish I had known about this product YEARS ago!
Brooke in OKC from Oklahoma City
I color my hair every 3 months or so and since my hair grows so fast, my gray hair starts showing at my roots within a month. I have purchased different products throughout the years that helped, but washed out the very next time I washed my hair (they were kind of like a colored mascara). This product is just a small bottle of actual colorant that has a brush tip so you can get it exactly where you want it on your scalp. Wait 10-15 minutes and your color looks brand new! No roots. Not sure how long it will last, but I'm hoping for a month. It blended with my color perfectly. I'm very happy with this product.
Great cover up!

I was very surprised how well I was able to blend it with the red color I have. Very easy to apply.
Likely to buy once more

Used to cover the grey, and even out the sunburned color. Worked great.
Amazing! Saves time & money between salon colors
Milleloves from Hawaii
I am only 24 and have gone COMPLETELY white. I dye my hair very dark brown so I have to get it touched up a lot. This product works wonders so I can go longer in between salon colors. I leave it on my white roots for an hour and it covers perfectly VS only leaving it for 10 minutes. Will continue to repurchase!
Easy and quick!
Tina the makeup artist from Nashville, TN
It's so easy to mix and apply. You only have to leave it on your head for 10-15 minutes. Way better than most permanent colors that require the color to stay on for 45 minutes.
I would But this product again

I love this product
Melsmom from Atlanta, GA
This product is easy, and quick to use. I always get dark brown and it's perfect. Useful for touch ups between salon visits, covers the gray completely. Leaves my hair in good condition, other similar products left my hair dry and frizzy. Not this! I will use again and again.
Does nothing for grays
Marsha from Chantilly, VA
My gray hair did not change color one bit but the rest of my darker hair got lighter. Was not what I was trying to accomplish
Quarantine life saver lol
Zo from California
It was so easy to use. Not messy and covered all my gray.
Super easy and no more grays!
Priscilla from Murrieta, CA
So fast, easy to apply, only ten minutes and BOOM! What gray hair!?!? Now I know why it is never in stock at the store. The color was not exactly the same as the dark auburn I usually use, but apparently I'm the only one who can tell. I was able to do it myself, about 1/2" of gray and dark brown hair, did around my face and the top and sides, with some left over.
Won't buy this again
Laura from Garfield NJ
Product color didn't match medium brown the finished color was more red.
Color is not as shown on box
LibraLady from IL
Just to let you folks know - I picked up a box of Light Brown for my light golden brown hair. After applying the root touch up, my hair looks almost black. It is very very DARK brown & not very flattering on me. I should have done my research; my bad!
Quick fix did the trick
MarthaGH from California
I purchased when I was feeling desperate and feeling down since I couldn't get a hair appointment due to current pandemic. I was pleasantly surprised and it is permanent, which made me happy
Coverage is not good
MTI from Silverdale
Difficult to cover grey hair roots & quantity not quite enough.
Disappointed because the color doesn't last.
Nicole from Minnesota
I liked the ease of putting it on, I liked the coverage on my gray roots, but I was very disappointed when it basically washed out in a week. This was supposed to be a permanent color.
CinNJ from Northern NJ
I used the root touch up as directed and it lasted for about 3 days. Very surprised.
Quarantine must have!
Joline from MN
Very easy to use to cover grays while in quarantine and unable to visit my stylist for a color.
