Comments about Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser:

I have very sensitive and reactive skin. This cleanser is true to its name, ultra calming. It feels good without any irritation, nor does it make my skin feel tight after rinsing it off. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't remove my makeup. So I use Dermalogica's pre-cleanse first.

    Comments about Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser:

Don't really see the point of this expensive "calming" cleanser. It's smells ok but doesn't really get rid of makeup. It dries out before you even get to wash it off. I still use a stronger cleanser to get rid of makeup when I use this. Will not buy again

To me this product is just Cetaphol in a different bottle at a much more expensive price.

Like Cetaphol, it does not clean my skin adequately. If I wash with this product and then cleanse with micelluar water, the cotton ball comes back with grey oil on it.

          I'm returning the product.

          Comments about Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser:

This product works the best for normal/dry skin. It does not foam up, it's more of a soft lather of product. I feel intensely clean after using this and my natural oils remain intact!

For a super sensitive skin best product on the market. A little goes a long way. Only disadvantage does not remove eye make up but then the Dermalogica eye make up remover is the best on the market in my opinion, drove to 4 different Ulta stores not one had the Dermalogica eye make up remover was very disappointed. I do hope that you have not discontinued this product. Was also looking for the Ultra Calming mist spray but seems to also be out of stock at all 4 Ulta stores.

            Comments about Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser:

I was a little skeptical the first few days using this product, since it didn't feel like it really cleaned my skin well. It doesn't leave makeup residue behind, but at the same time it didn't feel like my skin was getting a deep cleanse like I'm use to feeling with ance facial cleansers. But as I continued to use it, I started to more so appreciate the fact this product does not rid your skin of all its natural oils... a HUGE deal especially since other cleansers clean too much off your skin and wind up causing your skin to overwork to replenish the oils... leaving your face shiny and greasy in a few hours. Not the case with this cleanser.

As a bonus, I've noticed in just two weeks of using this cleanser (morning and evening) that my skin tone has vastly improved... evened skin tone, and a very healthy looking glow (not an oily glow). I am on several harsh acne treatments (prescription meds and prescription creams) and this cleanser has more than done its job to keep my skin healthy, protected, and smooth. Not flaky, dry, and blotchy like many acne facial products will do to your face.

Very impressed. For myself, the amount I use gives me 5-6 months out of the bottle, making this cleanser more affordable than at first thought. And with the benefits it gives your skin, I hardly think you'll be saying it was money better spent otherwise.

A serious must buy. I first trialed the "ultra calming" products with Dermatologica's ultra calming sample kit, where I discovered my love for this cleanser... the cleanser of all cleansers that I have for so long been needing and wanting for my skin!! Victory!!

(Check out the serum too.. this goes a long way and it's all I use after the cleanser. I use it as a face lotion and it's just perfect.)

Can anyone offer a comparison of this to Rodan & Fields' Soothe treatment? I've had success with those products but they are SO expensive! I'm hoping to achieve some of the same results with a different product. Thanks in advance!

                    Hello There:

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. Ultracalming Cleanser is for Sensitized skin, it helps to calm and cool irritated sensitized skin. If you are sensitive and breaking out this will be an appropriate cleanser to use. For the breakouts you could use Breakout Control which prevents and treats acne with out over drying skin with Lactobacillus Ferment. If your skin is not sensitive you may use Clearing Skin Wash as a cleanser which also helps to clear and prevent acne with Salicylic Acid and contains soothing botanicals to calm irritation associated with acne. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I have dry/red/sensitive skin and am currently using the essential cleansing solution. It's great for keeping my face clean, doesn't aggravate my skin or make my dry skin worse, and keeping blemishes at bay. However, it is not fixing my dry skin. Would the Ultracalming Cleanser work more at repairing my dry skin? Should I make the switch to this cleanser?

Also, I have used the clear start scrub and recently tried the microfoliant scrub. I've also used active moist for my moisturizer.

                    Hello There:

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. Either Essential Cleansing Solution or Ultracalming Cleanser will be appropriate for cleansing. For moisturizing we recommend that you use Intensive Moisture Balance, this is for dry skin, it is thick, rich, helps to strengthen the lipid barrier, it also has antioxidants. The Active Moist that you are using is for oily skin. The Clear Start is formulated for teens with acne skin conditions. We recommend that you discontinue the use of the Active Moist and Clear Start Blackhead Clearing Pore Control Scrub. For exfoliation the Microfoliant is appropriate to use, you may use it on alternate days or daily if your skin responds well. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
