I'm 42 with combination skin. I wear makeup pretty much everyday. If I want to use the PreCleanse as a first step to remove makeup and the Daily Superexfoliant to smooth & detoxify, should I still use a cleanser inbetween the PreCleanse and exfoliant? Or can I go directly to the exfoliant immediately after the PreCleanse?
- Asked by Skin Care Lover
- Official Answer By Dermalogica US - Brand EngageHello, thank you for contacting Dermalogica. We recommend using Precleanse to remove make up, a cleanser for a deep through cleanse, then use an exfoliant to remove dead skin cells and polish the skin. - Q
Does this lather well? What is the texture like?
- Asked by Amanda
- Official Answer By Dermalogica US - Brand EngageHello, thank you for contacting Dermalogica. PreCleanse does not lather, instead it has a milky consistency to thoroughly melt away layers of excess sebum (oil), sunscreen, waterproof make-up, environmental pollutants and residual products that build up on skin throughout the day. never thought i'd like "oil based"
I typically wouldn't buy an "oil based cleanser"... but a kind lady at Ulta recommended I use this before using the ultra calming cleanser (that will be another review- 5!) I have combo skin- sometimes dry patches, shiny nose, acne scars, and hormonal acne along the jawline. These reasons alone make...

Just Okay
This was my first time trying a cleansing oil compared to a cleansing balm. I would prefer if the bottle was a pump because since the product is oil based it can get messy. For the price point, I would prefer a cleansing balm however this product does make your skin feel soft and smooth for a pre-cleansing treatment.
Bottle Leaks Oil Everywhere
This bottle leaks even just sitting on the counter. There is oil everywhere. I generally love Dermlogica products but this is a major miss for me. They should revamp the packaging to a bottle with toner-like top. I won't repurchase this packaging.
Why do people like this???
I don't understand why anyone likes this stuff. I gave it a few honest tries and every time all it did was clump up my mascara and leave me with black oily eyes to the point where it was almost impossible to get it off. Also felt like it left a film on my face. Worst pre cleanse I've ever tried!
Excellent cleansing oil
Ive been using it for many months and love how clean and supple my skin feels after using it. It breaks down makeup, doesn't irritate my eyes, doesn't blur my vision, and has a soft but natural citrus smell. I tried finding a cheaper dupe, but honestly nothing compares. I like how my face looks baby soft after using without drying or breaking me out. So I will repurchase as a little goes a long way. I also love the travel size.
Expensive but Effective
I use this if I've been wearing a full face of makeup. It does a great job of breaking up tough stuff without being too harsh on my skin. I do still follow up with my Garnier Micellar Water, but that's not a con for me. Just means my micellar doesn't have to work as hard. IOW, I like the Dermalogica for heavy-duty makeup removal (Note: heavy-duty for me is a full face of light-medium coverage makeup, including water-proof products). It is expensive, but I'm still on my first bottle. Don't need too much.
