I am getting older (mid 50's) and have always had dry skin. This past year, it has become super dry, sensitive and the dry indoor heat during a Great Lakes winter has been brutal on my skin. The sensitivity was making it hard for me to find skincare products that worked and didn't make me feel like I needed to use a flame extinguisher(LOL the site won't let me use the word for flame!) on my face! I was in Ulta and saw this. The label says it uses ingredients that are time released. The deciding factor was the spf 30 sunscreen in it. When the snow melts, we will be out on our bikes again and I need sunscreen! Spf 30 is the minimum amount you should use and most creams are spf 20. Plus they feel funky on dry, sensitive skin.
How does it work? Well, it is different. Not greasy and not conventionally "emollient" but it does make my skin look and feel better. It is softer and more pliable. I am starting to get wrinkly/crepey eyelids and I carefully put this on and let it absorb before applying primer/eyeshadow (besides all over my face). It has really helped! I quit wearing foundation and use tinted moisturizer or a BB cream and a cream blush. Conventional creams are too slick for the makeup to stay on, but the CeraVe reduces the wrinkles, give me sunscreen and doesn't cause the makeup to slide right off. At night a put it on and put a more emollient nightcream (budget friendly) over it for extra oomph. In the last couple of weeks, I have had 2 people come up and say that I looked younger and thinner! I will take that all day long! I have bought every kind of moisturizer-expensive, products from "parties", department stores and even used to use creamy petroleum jelly on my face and nothing has ever worked. I have even noticed that I look better and I am usually very critical. I know this review is long, but if you have gone through what seems like every cream out there and end up giving it away like I have, you want honest, detailed opinions. I hope this helps!
I know that this nighttime moisturizer works, because it worked for me for two weeks. However, after that initial two weeks, I broke out in tiny pin sized pimples all over my face, it appears to be an irritant caused dermatitis, (the first of my life!) which is quite painful, not to mention unsightly.
Most people seem to have great results using this, but I want to let some people know that this can happen, so I suggest doing a patch test continuously for at least a week before using over your entire face.

I swear by this brand's face hydrating face wash for my aging skin after years of using harsh cleansers that dried me out. needless to say, I was excited to try this moisturizer from their line in hopes I'd love it as much as the cleanser. nope. something in this does not agree with my skin. it breaks me out every time I try to reintegration it into my night or morning routine. I tried using it alone or with just one serum instead of the several I use and same result- break out. besides that, it never feels like my skin really absorbs it all as much as it seems to just sit on top as a greasy layer despite minimal amount used. just not a great experience and certainly not a great result for me. I'll still continue to use the face wash but its a pass on the moisturizer for me.

This is the best moisturizer I've used that helps minimize my breakouts. Hydrating and not heavy, wear under my makeup and it looks perfect.

Exactly what I needed without feeling tacky or greasy

I really wanted to love it this is the perfect moisturizer but this just made me go through so much stress because it would make my face so oily I felt like I had grease all over my face and I would wake up with a layer of oil in my skin. I have to finish the bottle I am currently on and unfortunately another mini bottle I got because I thought it would be good but its not. I will be moving on the the daily moisturizing lotion from cerave and will never come back to this ever

I did a lot of research before buying this product and was encouraged by all the positive reviews. I have Rosacea and very sensitive skin. I have been using Cetaphil for years but was looking for something more moisturizing. I was not currently having a flare up so thought it a good time to give this a try. I immediately was not impressed by how it applied to my skin and left it feeling tacky. By the second application my face started having painful breakouts. By the third try it got worse. I noticed that, though it is supposed to be non-comedogenic, one of the ingredients listed is comedogenic. Not sure if this was what my skin reacted to but I immediately stopped using and already at day 2 my face is calming back down and no longer getting worse. I read others with Rosacea commented positively so it all goes back to what works for some may not for others. I really wanted it to work but unfortunately it did not for me. My quest for a good moisturizer continues! :-(

Most AM moisturizers contain chemical sunscreen, which I don't like, so I use this PM moisturizer every morning after washing my face. It absorbs well, and makes my face feel fresh & clean. It doesn't feel heavy or oily. I can put my makeup on 5 minutes after applying. I don't use it at night right now, but plan to do so as the weather gets colder/air gets drier.

This moisturizer is horrible for oily skin! I fell for the hype and I regret it so much. When I woke up, it looked like someone poured bacon grease on my face. I wish I was exaggerating but in only 3 days my pores are clogged, bigger in size and I've little bumps everywhere. I only used one pump and within an hour or two I was so greasy. It also feels very heavy and siliconey when you apply. Like it doesn't absorb. Stay away if you've oily skin!

I usually buy the Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon. I love it. However my skincare budget has drastically changed and I needed something less expensive. I've heard about this and how amazing it is. I used it 2x, one week apart. Both times I woke up with a breakout- redness and bumps all over. I never break out either. This lotion feels very similar to Dermalogica, but I will not be buying it again.

My skin dries up after a shower and it gets to a point that it almost hurts. I saw pinterest post with this product and gave it a go ahead. Works great and feels great! Its light weight feel and you only need a little bit for entire face. My skin doesnt feel like a tight mask.

I will say it feels good applying it but the next morning my face definitely had a residue on it that feels a little waxy. I also started breaking out bad. I used this for almost a whole month to really test it but my face kept getting a few little bumps, not neccessarily zits. So my skin did not like it. Gave it a fair shot, just beware if you have sensitive skin

Love this product. Feels like light-weight water cream. Isn't heavy at all.

Really wanted to like this product as it absorbed easily and felt nice on my skin, but within a week of use I started to get pretty bad acne outbreaks. I looked into it a little and wanted to believe that maybe this was just what people call "skin purging", but after sticking with it for a month I still had some of the worst cystic acne of my life, even with prescription treatments. Would not recommend if you're even slightly concerned about acne, as it's not worth the quite literal pain :(

It's not fantastic and isn't doing wonders for my skin but it isn't messing it up either
Kenny from California
I really like this moisturizer and think it's a great basic one to have. As someone with very dry skin, this isn't quite enough for me so I just use it as a daytime moisturizer under spf and that seems to work well. Would definitely recommend to most people!
El from US
I use this product every night, and though I've seen no big differences in my skin, I still enjoy it. A lot of nighttime moisturizers are overly hydrating which gives me more ance, this product has good level of moisture. I will probably continue to have this product as a back-up while I test other products that may have a more positive effect.
Crystal from New York
I use this in combination with the AM moisturizer and while they do work well together (am in the morning and pm at night) I was unsatisfied with the size and as a stand alone product it just doesn't do enough for my skin. The daily lotion used with a facial sunscreen seems it may be a better option
