Was a skeptic, now I'm not.
First off, I was a bit skeptical about the hard water claims for this shampoo. I have horribly hard water. It's so bad that I have to soak my shower head on a bi-weekly basis to clean it out so it works properly. Considering the condition of my hair, I thought it wouldn't hurt to take a chance on t...

Didn't work for me
It has such good reviews, I thought this would have worked for my hair. Unfortunately, it somehow damaged my hair. The only thing that was dry about my hair were my dry split ends. I need a trim and because of Covid-19, I haven't been able to. The rest of my hair is fine with no oiliness or severe d...

Good...for occasional use!

I don't use this too frequently, only when my hair texture changes for the worse/feels weighed down and I know that too much styling product build-up and other stuff has accumulated which needs to be removed. I usually dislike using any product with SLS in it, but I hate to admit this one does just what I need it to: 'stripping' my hair of all the build-up, and taking my hair back to its natural state. Most SLS-free shampoos don't do that for me, bar a small handful, and I normally end up having to add a capful of Apple Cider Vinegar mixed in with each shampoo application, to get them to work better. Will use this up but also continue on the search for a decent clarifying shampoo that's natural and doesn't cause my hair to turn somewhat frizzy, the way this does. Otherwise not too drying (considering the SLS), lathers nicely and has a pleasant floral/minty fragrance. -> My 'Ulta Beauty Top 7 must-have list' (My 7 favorite beauty products of all time, focusing mainly on my purchases at Ulta) < - < 1. Of all the clarifying shampoos I've tried, this one has really stood the test of time- I've tried a lot of newer ones and they just aren't as good. It gets anything and everything out on the first go. It has sulfates, but it's very gentle on my hair (my hair tends to get dry, but is not colored/processed). I can use it several times a week no problem, but I only use it about once or twice depending on what products are in my hair. Also, try it on your hair and makeup brushes! It gets everything out the first time and you don't have to keep lathering and rinsing. Great stuff.
Formula change
They quietly changed the formula. It's not a huge change. Noticed my hair isn't as smooth after use and leaves my hair feeling just a tiny amount dry and tangles a bit easier. It is not super noticeable but enough to take a star off because the change wasn't needed. This has been my daily shampoo for several years, well over a decade. I have long straight medium thick hair that is not dyed and I don't use heat often. Most shampoos dry out my hair or make it feel coated. This has been my precious beloved shampoo for so long. I've not even strayed to try anything else and a long time. Disappointed in the change. Why not create a second clarifying shampoo? Instead they create two more products but no matching conditioner. Their other conditioners have strong scents except the Marine seaweed and it's very drying. I'll continue using as the change is minor and I'm still getting somewhat similar results. Oh forgot to mention the fragrance is a wee bit stronger but it's minor. I noticed because I saw a color change and sniffed the new bottle and compared to the original. It's almost undetectable. Not difference when using and nothing different in scent when dry. Why do companies make changes to things that are customer favorites? This has high reviews on all beauty sites. Why make any changes? If anything they should have taken note and added to the line with a conditioner, detangler, leave-in, a mask. Instead they are probably going to start seeing some negative reviews from people who have dry hair already.
A great recommendation from an Ulta team member

This was recommended to me during an in-person Ulta visit. I was looking for something more cleansing and this works very well to clean out my hair and scalp at the end of the week. My only criticisms are that I wish the ingredients were cleaner and that the bottle was made of aluminum and not plastic.
It's not for me

Personally, wasn't crazy about the product. I don't think my hair texture benefits from the formula that was used. I think a 3B up to one. A texture works best. I may try it again later on but not really a fan. I will say my hair did feel very moisturize, though which is important during these dry months.
