A Few Pro Tips Before You Color: Your hair doesn't need to be squeaky-clean, but it should definitely be free of heavy styling products. (They can coat the hair and block the color from working to its maximum.) Hair color and activator should be at room temperature before mixing. Love your linens? Feel free to use a darker towel and pillowcase after the first couple of washes to keep them protected from any color transfer. If your hair is chemically straightened, relaxed, or permed, we recommend waiting two weeks to color after your last chemical treatment.

My hair is light brown. When I have darkened it in the past it had a greenish grey color especially on my ends. How do I get to a dark mocha or espresso brown with out the greenish grey color?
- Asked by Darker hair needed
- Official Answer By Madison Reed - SyndicationWe’d love to help you with this hair color journey. This will be a two-step coloring process to gorgeous results. When going lighter in color or if your hair has faded to a lighter color, tone and pigment are removed from the hair. In order to go darker, those tones and pigments need to be reintroduced back into the hair in order for maximum tonal result and color longevity. We suggest you add warmth back into your hair with our prior to using permanent or demi permanent color. Our Miele Gloss is a great way to add the needed warmth back to the hair before coloring with a darker shade. For the application, we'd recommend applying Gloss first over the previous lighter sections. Let the color process for 25 minutes. After that, rinse and shampoo. Once your hair is dry, you can apply the darker shade of your choosing. I hope this is helpful for you. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns about this process. Was this answer helpful to you

This makes going grey a game changer!
This year I made the decision to grow out my greys. It started with putting my MR subscription on hold for 3 months. Then a few weeks ago I saw my stylist to have all of the color past my new grow out bleached. Over the past two weeks I've been getting used to it being blond but really just wanted t...

Iffy.
*I received this product complimentary from Influenster in exchange for my honest review.* This dye was super easy to apply and I loved that it came with everything I needed to color my hair (minus clips). The packaging was definitely unique as I've not seen many brands use anything other than a ba...

Just Okay

This product was okay. Since I have dark hair this midnight blue color can't even be seen and honestly I see more color wash out than when my hair is style. I do not feel this was not worth the price I paid for it. I won't be buying this again.
Does not work

I bought two boxes because it was recommended that for thick long hair you should use two. After mixing up the color both bottles were drastically different colors. One of them was dark purple and the other was like a very light almost lilac color. I fully saturated my hair and left it in for a little over 20 minutes. I rinsed for almost an hour and the water would never run clear. Even then, the color made absolutely no difference to my hair. Don't use if you have black hair. It doesn't work.
New Favorite!

I've been a Madison Reeve fan for half a decade. This is my new favorite. It evenly blends (25% gray) with my natural hair color but also makes it 10 times more shiny and soft! Love that this is a demi-permanency color so I can easily lift if needed! Thank you Ulta for carrying such a great line.
Doesn't affect texture and shows up!

I liked this product because it showed up well in darker colored hair and didn't affect the texture and dryness of my hair. It was a little hard to see since I only dyed the under layers, but color has lasted a while and I am satisfied with this dye!
It turned my hair purple brown

I used the Iconic Bronde shade to refresh my medium brown, chemically treated hair. I followed the instructions exactly—left it on for the full 20 minutes, no shortcuts. When I rinsed it out, I immediately noticed a purple tint while my hair was still wet, which I hoped would fade once dry. Unfortunately, after blow drying, the purple tone was still very apparent and definitely not the result I expected. I specifically chose this product because the "brown outcomes" shown on the website displayed warm, natural bronde shades—nothing even remotely close to the purple tone I ended up with. It's very misleading. If you're hoping for a true bronde or a natural brown result, I would stay away from this one. The purple hue may work for some, but it wasn't at all what I signed up for.
