Most Helpful Positive Review Love Deep Cleansing Oil but lately....
I have used this cleansing oil for many, many years and absolutely love it! That hasn't changed, but I've noticed on the last 2 bottles that a leak develops around the outside base of the white pump near where it meets the clear bottle. It builds up until it drips down the side of the bottle. I keep my bottle under the sink and just reach in and pump it when needed so I didn't immediately notice this leak, not until it made a real mess. I first thought it was just the last bottle but my current bottle is doing the same thing. It not only is wasting the oil, but it makes a mess and I've had to sit the bottle in a small dish. Still, I love this product!
Most Helpful Critical Review Too striping. My skin turned into SANDPAPER over long term
A bit of background, I've been struggling with a bit of cystic acne and damaged skin barrier during quarantine. I was upset that I was having a glow down so I got disciplined with my skincare routine. I purchased this product a while ago and reintroduced it in a double cleansing regimen. Note: I had a gentle, minimalistic routine for acne with CervaVe, sunscreen, etc. After a month I began to notice my skin was still oily, forming cystic acne yet now it felt dehydrated and started forming SANDPAPER-LIKE-BUMPS. I freaked out and thought it was congestion. I added AHAs/BHAs back in, then my skin was REALLY MAD and the bumps were EVERYWHERE. I couldn't figure out what it was. All I knew was my skin was so much worse, I had acne, the skin barrier was still compromised and no amount of moisturizer was fixing the texture. I spent a few months playing with product elimination and when I removed this my skin softened up after two washes!!! This was literally cleaning off my skin barrier. In retrospect I realized this was consistently stripping my skin, even when my skin was healthy.
Overall, Just because it works well doesn't mean it's good for you. And although it's a customer favorite notice that it's never been recommended by a dermatologist or skincare specialist.

I really like this oil cleanser! Wish I would have switched sooner! I've been using "natural" oil cleaners for years now for removing my makeup. I've used coconut oil, grapeseed oil to jojoba oil. Those all worked fine for removing makeup but I would still have excess oil leftover from washing my face just with water. So I always used face wipes to remove what was leftover. Then I would double cleanse with my second cleanser (Cerave/Cetaphil). I love this oil cleanser and don't see myself switching back to natural oils. This product does a great job of melting my makeup but doesn't leave excess oil when rinsing off with water. I still double cleanser to actually "clean" my face. I recommend using a second cleanser afterward to actually clean your face. My favorite part is that I don't have to buy any more makeup wipes!
Valuable face cleanser

Personally i found this product to be useful for cleansing the face properly, and washing out makeup in one go. Generally 1-2 pumps was enough to thoroughly cleanse the face. My face didn't feel dry or have negative reactions after every use. overall this has been an excellent product to use for my skin needs.
Great forts step cleaner
Jelly from Mi
Love the feel of it. Moisturizes instead of stripping like other cleansers.
Mace from Salisbury
I absolutely love this stuff! Cleansing balms don't seem to pull everything off and I've found oils to be so much easier. I use this as my first step in double cleansing and my face is super clean afterwards! Only con would be the price.
Love this product

This oil smells like a spa, feels great on the skin, and the fact that it emulsifies is INCREDIBLE to me. You can rinse it off like any regular cleanser and it leaves your skin feeling clean but not stripped. In terms of makeup removal, it works well although I think micellar water is better for eye makeup. This is definitely a great addition if you're choosing to double cleanse. I use it to massage my face sometimes and it works well. The best part is definitely the emulsification. Overall love this product and will continue purchasing it!
not worth the hype
samu from nyc
honestly i was expecting something absolutely amazing from all the hype this received but its just eh. it gets most of my foundation and eye makeup off with two pumps, but it sadly always has a hard time getting my waterproof mascara off. i recommend getting something cheaper bc for this price its not up to par.
Des from Michigan
For sure is pricey but I love it! I follow this up with the cerave SA cleanser and makes my skin feel so clean and refreshed.

If you want to know what this feels like, go rub some olive oil all over your face. Some people may like this feeling but to me feels as if I'm rubbing my makeup into my pores and around my face with oil, I always have to use a makeup remover and a face wash after this because my face just feels gross and heavy/oily if I don't. Such an awkward product to use to have to use more products after. I have normal skin and has not broken me out or anything of that nature so I will finish the bottle or as much as I can stand because I got it on sale but won't even think about buying again, especially after hearing the ethical concerns behind the owners and I'm pretty sure this product/brand tests on animals. Bad purchase on my end. Wish I saved my money even on sale, only positive is I can use slightly less of my makeup remover since this gets some of the makeup off. It also burns the heck out of my eyes if it gets in them, like a blinding burn that leaves eyes really red so keep away from eyes

I use this at home so needed the travel size so my skin is using the same products when I travel.
Broke me out ???
Guzman from LA
I used this everyday for about 3 1/2 months & I noticed I always had a pimple on my face since using it, I always thought it was my BC since I got them at around the same time, until I recently ran out and decided to buy Clean It Zero instead. I've replaced this DHC Cleanser with the Clean It Zero for about a week now and I haven't had a break out since using it! I used this DHC oil for double cleansing and it did a good job at removing makeup & when I wasn't wearing makeup, it was good at removing my SPF. Such a shame I didn't realize it broke me out until I ran out but better late than never
Best Switch I've Ever Made!!
Becca from Glen Burnie, MD
I switched from makeup wipes to this product and I'm never going back. I hated how the Clinique remove the sag balm felt on my skin and heard great things about this. So I tried it and I immediately felt my makeup being removed without stripping my skin or feeling like I had a cast over it.
Please use this properly!
PLEASE READ!!! from MT
It's a great product and reading these reviews I think a lot of people do not know how to properly use a cleansing oil/ balm. It is step one of a two step cleanse you absolutely have to follow up with a water based cleanser or yes you will clog all your pores and break out! The benefit of the two step cleanse is that the oil will really break down and remove your makeup better than a water based. Follow up with a water based cleanse to remove any left over oils then continue in with your normal routine. BUT FOR THE LOVE OF HOD
PLEASE DONT USE AS A ONE STEP CLEANSE!!!
Good, but not Amazing

I use this Deep Cleansing Oil as part of my double cleansing routine. I have enjoyed using it so far, but i do not think it is anything spectacular. It is good for sensitive skin and has not broken me out. I will continue to use the product but I do not think I will repurchase.

Love this cleanser! Leaves skin feeling refreshed and not dry.
BAMPhilly from Philadelphia, PA
I purchased this previously. It does a great job of melting off foundation, powder, lip and brow makeup (I use a separate waterproof mascara/eye makeup remover). I follow up with a gentle non-soap cleanser for cleaning my pores, especially during the warm summer months.
Cleans well but drying
ManjuMochi from ID
This cleans exceptionally well, but I have extremely dry skin. My skin felt tight afterwards, so I will stick to washing with rice bran oil.
Great even for sensitive skin

No tugging or excessive wiping to remove makeup, even waterproof eye makeup

I do not usually write reviews but I feel like I had to for this.. this is honestly great at removing makeup and it doesn't sting my eyes. BUT WOW the cystic acne I had after only using this two times is astonishing. I have never suffered from true painful cystic acne until I used this. My skin is not super sensitive and I don't usually have acne unless it's hormonal. I have normal to dry skin. This oil, plus having to wear masks everyday, absolutely destroyed my skin. I haven't used it in about a week and a half and my acne is no where near gone.
I just bought 4
Liv from Philadelphia
I have dry skin and tried out this cleansing oil in the hopes that I could use a more gentle cleanser after so I could leave my skin feeling moisturized. It works perfectly and rinsing off without any residue left behind. My skin is clearer than before and less red or irritated.
Works well, if you're cool with xenophobia
Angry from Chicago
I know some people don't care about the ethics of the companies they purchase from, but y'all should know that the leadership of this company is notorious for promoting anti-Korean rhetoric in Japan. The product is good, but avoid DHC if you're committed to ethical consumption.

I use this on my extra dry skin before makeup to get the dry patches off for a smooth finish then I go in with a cleanser and it is amazing. Exfoliating is bad for skin so this is amazing for my dry patches . Always follow with a cleanser after using this product. I don't know if people know how to use this reading the reviews

Nice face wash that looks like it would be oily but foams up nicely ,
I would buy this again
Lilly from New York
I purchased the travel size because I was new to the double cleanse world and wanted to try the product before committing to the larger size and wasn't disappointed. It's really great at removing makeup- even waterproof mascara and lip stains. When I finished the bottle, I purchased Farmacy's Green Clean Balm because I had seen several skincare gurus raving about it. After a few uses, I can definitely say I prefer DHC's cleansing oil. Having to scoop out Farmacy's product was a bit of an inconvenience in the shower and it irritated my eyes every time.

I know it's meant for you face but I recently used this to clean my makeup brushes and it worked very well!

I have super oily skin & those annoying little black dots in my nose that look like blackheads but aren't. This product makes a noticeable difference! I'm writing this review because I need more! I literally don't want to live without this. Apply to dry skin, even if you still have make up on & follow up with a water based cleanser. I use Cerve or Korres Greek Yogurt cleanser. I have very sensitive skin as well.
