Most Helpful Positive Review Healing AND SPF 30!! I am getting older (mid 50's) and have always had dry skin. This past year, it has become super dry, sensitive and the dry indoor heat during a Great Lakes winter has been brutal on my skin. The sensitivity was making it hard for me to find skincare products that worked and didn't make me feel like I needed to use a flame extinguisher(LOL the site won't let me use the word for flame!) on my face! I was in Ulta and saw this. The label says it uses ingredients that are time released. The deciding factor was the spf 30 sunscreen in it. When the snow melts, we will be out on our bikes again and I need sunscreen! Spf 30 is the minimum amount you should use and most creams are spf 20. Plus they feel funky on dry, sensitive skin.
How does it work? Well, it is different. Not greasy and not conventionally "emollient" but it does make my skin look and feel better. It is softer and more pliable. I am starting to get wrinkly/crepey eyelids and I carefully put this on and let it absorb before applying primer/eyeshadow (besides all over my face). It has really helped! I quit wearing foundation and use tinted moisturizer or a BB cream and a cream blush. Conventional creams are too slick for the makeup to stay on, but the CeraVe reduces the wrinkles, give me sunscreen and doesn't cause the makeup to slide right off. At night a put it on and put a more emollient nightcream (budget friendly) over it for extra oomph. In the last couple of weeks, I have had 2 people come up and say that I looked younger and thinner! I will take that all day long! I have bought every kind of moisturizer-expensive, products from "parties", department stores and even used to use creamy petroleum jelly on my face and nothing has ever worked. I have even noticed that I look better and I am usually very critical. I know this review is long, but if you have gone through what seems like every cream out there and end up giving it away like I have, you want honest, detailed opinions. I hope this helps!
Most Helpful Critical Review Unfortunate I know that this nighttime moisturizer works, because it worked for me for two weeks. However, after that initial two weeks, I broke out in tiny pin sized pimples all over my face, it appears to be an irritant caused dermatitis, (the first of my life!) which is quite painful, not to mention unsightly.
Most people seem to have great results using this, but I want to let some people know that this can happen, so I suggest doing a patch test continuously for at least a week before using over your entire face.

Lightweight, hydrating gel moisturizer 5

I used this for the first time after profractional laser resurfacing for acne scars. Not only did it calm and sooth my skin, but it kept my skin hydrated as it healed. It's a bit light for a nighttime moisturizer, but is certainly my daytime go-to from now on.
Great Moisturizer 5

I actually use this AM and PM. It's light and absorbs well. Makes my skin feel soft and moisturized.
Cystic acne 1

Broke me out in cystic acne with scarring and made my face red and irritated. Wanting a moisturizer for sensitive skin. Having a hard time finding anything that will work. I've tried soo many.
I use this for morning and night! 5

I have combination skin and this works well for both my dry and oily patches. I've not noticed any irritation as others have mentioned but, I did with the morning one. Even though it says it is a nighttime moisturizer I use for both morning and night. It does a great job and I have no complaints. After reading the reviews I guess it's not for everyone. I would definitely recommend trying it and seeing how you do with it. It doesn't bother me at all unlike the AM one. Def try it for yourself and see. I love it.
Made my skin feel like it got bit by a bunch of mosquitoes 3

My skin is not sensitive yet my skin had a terrible reaction. I used to love Cerave products but it isn't worth having to heal my face afterwards. Consult your dermatologist before starting to use it.
Moisturizing! 5

I use this product every night and it always helps my skin feel super moisturized and clean. I will be buying this product for years to come.

certain skin types beware 3

I have friends who use this and LOVE it.. they also have super sensitive skin (like myself), I also saw awesome reviews about it.... its affordable so I thought I'd give it a try. When I woke up the next day my skin was seemingly irritated. I also decided to give it a try under my makeup and my skin instantly started itching. After using it for three days my skin was itchy, irritated and my cheeks were covered in texture. I believe this works for some people but this moisturizer literally made me feel like my skin was being eaten alive. if you have sensitive skin and buy this please patch test it.
This is my second bottle! 4

Tried many high end and some low end and everything in between. Decided to try this product and glad I did. Currently, it's my go to night cream. Not planning on trying anything new.
My go to moisturizer! 5

My go to moisturizer, I have been using this for over a decade. I use it as daytime and nighttime moisturizer. Great for sensitive skin.
Pleasantly Surprised! 5

My skin is combination, sensitive, acne-prone skin. It gets dried out pretty easily by skin treatments but is also affected by heavy moisture. I had an eczema breakout that was all over my face and neck so I was using the Cerave moisturizing cream. It definitely helped but once my skin started to normalize, it wasn't clearing up and I figured it was too heavy at that point.
I use the resurfacing retinol from Cerave along with a few other products first and this was recommended with it. I was pretty skeptical because I figured it wouldn't be enough for my skin, but I was wrong! It's light and soaks in nicely but my skin is still soft when I wake up.
For anyone that has acne-prone skin that is sensitive, you NEED to try this! If you're still having issues, you might have skin barrier issues like I do. These Cerave products I mentioned are definitely helping to get my skin back in shape!
you need to try try! 5

i have been using this for 5 years. i have combo skin that is acne prone and this stuff keeps my skin hydrated. it does not clog pores or irritate my skin!! i use it morning and night every day. however since my cheeks can get dry, i will switch to a richer moisturizer at night like the renewing night cream or moisturizing cream from the cerave line.
DONT GET THIS! 1

I got this with there AM moisturizer thinking both of them were good worst mistake EVER!!The AM one pills and leaves a white cast, and this one is barely hydrating and it IRRITATES my skin so much!!My skin is barely sensitive to anything but this product is AWFUL!!

Perfect for sensitive skin.
Perfect blend of ingredients 5

This is kind of everything I've been looking for in a moisturizer. I have experimented with many an expensive brand from Ulta and gel creams and so forth, and all the while knowing about Cerave PM but just avoiding it because it seemed so "blah".
Well that was dumb. To be so nourishing, oil free, friendly to acne, containing ceramides and niacinimide, is perfection. It's literally the perfect weight, non-greasy, and is perfect for Utah winters. I don't know if I will still be able to use it in the summer, it may be too heavy then. Time will tell.
I do use it night and day. It wears well under my spf and makeup, except around the eyes. I tend to not put it there because my makeup will crease ceaselessly.
Cerve = the only moisturizers & cleansers I will use 5
Abbie from New England
I spent so many years trying numerous different moisturizers that would only irritate my skin or cause acne. Cerve was recommended to me by a dermatologist and it is the only skincare brand I trust with my skin now. My skin is so much better now!
It's decent. 4
Stylebaus from CA
It's a decent product. I don't believe it's ever broken me out, but I have had it slightly sting my face at times. It's a very lightweight formula, I use about 2 pumps every night. Once this bottle runs out I'm not going to buy another, I prefer something richer and creamier at night. But overall, not a bad product.
Not for sensitive skin!!! 1
Priscilla from Temecula, CA
Ive been using cerve products for 2 years now since my dermatologists recommended me to use two of there products and it did wonders.. Absolutely love there foam cleanser and Moisturizer am spf. But I've been using this product less then 2 months and honestly it does nothing. It doesn't even feel hydrating, it's a really thin formula that you have to pump out product twice. Not only that but everytime I put it on it burns my skin so bad and then it goes away. I also feel like it's been breaking me out. Unfortunately I can't return it but definitely never buying this again.
Still the best 5
MariaNYRN from New York
I've been going through so many moisturizers lately just seeing what's out there (Peter Thomas Roth, Clinique, Drunk Elephant) and I always come back to this. It's just the best and you can't beat the price.
I always come back to this one 5
Gabrielle from gulfport
through the years I've tried plenty of popular moisturizers, but cerave PM is my tried and true. I use it as a daytime moisturizer since I prefer something heavier at night, but honestly you can't go wrong with this one. It doesn't break me out and it's not greasy. I hope cerave never changes the formulation, it's perfect.
Quality for less $$ 5

Lightweight and very moisturizing. Love to use it as part of my night time skin routine.
Prefer this as a daytime moisturizer 5
Kat from Aurora, CO
I should probably give this less stars because it is marketed as a PM moisturizer and to be honest, it's too lightweight for my nighttime preference. I use it at night often but usually layer a thicker cream over it. However, this ROCKS as a daytime moisturizer! It absorbs down very quickly and has wonderful ingredients. It doesn't have SPF of course but if you generally use a separate sunscreen like I do, you'll love this. Additionally, I love the convenient pump packaging.
Pretty good 5
Kyyy from Chicago
I have combo skin and use this at night on my face and neck. It absorbs very well and helps keep my skin moisturized. I put a night cream on top.
Great for AM too! 5
Meghan from MN
I use this at night and also in the morning after washing under makeup. It absorbs beautifully and quickly. Allows makeup to go on smoothly without pilling. Keeps skin hydrated and makeup evenly distributed all day long. Better than moisturizers 5x this price!
