Great for 3a/3b curly hair

I usually avoid using hair serums and hair oils because most of them all contain various silicone derived chemicals in their formula (just read the ingredients list and see for yourself.) While silicone in its various forms as a haircare product is inert and does not negatively affect humans, not al...l forms of it are water soluble and therefore getting silicone fully out out of hair can require a clarifying shampoo. If all the silicone doesn't get removed, it can cause product buildup and attract dust/dirt, causing hair to require washing even more frequently than usual. As a "curly girl" (naturally curly hair) of 3a to 3b curl pattern hair, I find using a clarifying shampoo more than 1 time a month strips and can damage my hair. So, I choose to avoid silicone bearing products as much as I possibly can. The Mielle Kalahari Melon & Aloe Vera Deep Hydration Weightless Oil is silicone-free and doesn't feel as heavy and messy as using a traditional oil (like olive oil or coconut oil) directly in my hair. The dry oil formula is truly very light when applied in your system hair (*that is the key...don't use it on wet hair) and didn't run onto my face and scalp during my day as some hair serums and oils can. I used mine on my Day 2 hair to restore shine and to lock in the moisture when fluffing and crunching through my Day 1 gel cast (basically when you let your wet curls air dry and once dry, scrunch the crunchy gel to give your curls life and body). My hair was better able to retain its moisture on Days 2 and 3 when applying this oil to it (I used 2 pumps for each side of my head since I have tons of long hair). My husband said my hair appeared shinier than usual and smelled great (the product has a faint fresh melon scent). I also found I could use a pump of this Mielle oil per braid when redoing my pigtail braids I wear on low maintenance days...a little goes a long way. It especially makes a difference when I get the hair tie in the ends and want the tips after the hair ties to look uniform and shiny. I would assume if one uses heat styling on their hair this oil would work great as a post-styler to get shine as well. Overall, this oil has become a staple product for me in my personal preferred arsenal of hold grail hair products and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a versatile, useful and non-buildup causing hair oil/serum. I am about to buy a bottle for my mom and aunts with 4a curly hair and my mother-in-law who has 3a curls. It's so affordable and the 4 oz./118 mL bottle I'll last you for a good long while.
