- Q
Does this shampoo contain sulfates
- Asked by Jenn
- Official Answer By Wella Professionals - Sampling + BEYes, it does. That is a great question. Sulfates have recently gotten a bad rap as being bad for you and your hair. What you need to know is that sulfates are the ingredient that cleanses the hair. One would need to consume a large quantity of them to have negative results. We use only the highest-grade sulfates – which provide cleansing necessary without pulling color or damaging the hair. Optimal levels are contained in our products which leave the hair clean without over drying. We offer a very nourishing formula overall, which is gentle on the skin and hair. The SLS (sulfates) used are in the international regulatory permitted range, they have been tested extensively for decades to ensure customer health and safety. To protect color treated hair we have the Pro-Color Shield technology that prolongs hair color. I hope that this helps. If you have, further questions please call 800-935-5273. The relationship between sulfates and hair color is not straight forward. Most of what we hear is a myths that come from a "sulfate free" marketing campaign or company. Harsh sulfates will most likely always pull color from the hair and cause dryness. Gentle sulfates with the proper formulation of other ingredients will keep hair color in longer than most sulfate free shampoos. Sulfate free shampoos most often do not cleanse the hair thoroughly enough to rid it of dirt, oils, product and environmental debris. This causes more dirt to attach to the hair and the formation of free radicals. Free radicals cause the fading of hair color. The appearance of a sulfate in a shampoo does not automatically determine the "safeness" of the product. I hope that this helps. Was this answer helpful to you

GAME CHANGER
Okay, so to all my ladies and fellas with natural beach waves and coarse hair textures - if you color your hair, you NEED to be sure to use the right haircare products, because we both know if you use any ole' shampoo, the color will not only fade, but your hair looks dead way faster than other hair...

Hair Fell Out! Miss the old formula :(
I was SO sad that they changed the formula. The old version was the best and I used it for almost 4 years! It made my hair feel really clean, healthy, and smelled so good! So good that I didn't even need to wear perfume. When I bought the new version, I was so disappointed. First the scent. It's not...

Go back to the old scent
Wella should really reevaluate this scent compared to the old one. The scent is not appealing, and it gave me a headache. I used this for years until they changed the scent. Now I know why I avoided buying it for so long.
Love Wella Shampoo but didn't get advertised Deluxe Sample
Hair Type Wavy Hair
I discovered Wella Shampoo when I received one of their samples. I love trying samples since I get to see which products work best for me. It introduces me to new products. The Shampoo was more expensive here than other companies online but since they advertised the free larger size 1 ounce Deluxe Mask Sample with $20 purchase I thought it was worth trying. To my disappointment I received a tiny size half filled sample of hair repair which I don't care for. If they ran out of their samples then I should be notified in email. Ironically it still advertises the same Deluxe Mask Sample online. The Shampoo was also leaking. I love Ulta because their customer service is great. They said they would make good so I'll see.

In need of a spray leave in conditioner....
Hair Type Wavy Hair
I really like the coarse shampoo/conditioner line; as someone who's fragrance sensitive, I can use this with no reaction- huge plus. It leaves hair very soft & layered on top a curl cream w/no protein or fragrance and yes, no reaction. Rating 4.5/5 Win!!
Wrecked my hair
If i can give negative stars i would. While this product smells and feels good it wrecked my hair! I began to have panic attacks in the shower becase my hair felt so thinned out. When i got out it made my hair feel like straw.
not cruelty free
I received a sample that I loved, but when I went to purchase see that it is not cruelty free, or vegan, therefore, will not be buying.
