Product was able to heat quickly and give body to flat hair.
First, I received this Conair Double Ceramic 1 inch barrel curling iron from Viewpoints Sampling. Even though I got a free sample, I will be absolutely honest in my review. First, it came in a very attractive blue package, trimmed in a bronze color. Included in the box is the curling iron, an instruction booklet, and a Black fabric case that you can put on your curling iron when it's not in use. The curling iron got hot very quickly, just like the instructions promised. It's a premium looking curling iron, while with bronze writing, and a bronze ceramic Bartell. I had a Conair 1/2 inch curling iron already, and it didn't look as expensive with a silver barrel. I plugged in the product and powered it up. Again, it got hot quickly, so please keep out of reach of children. I laid it on the black bag it comes with, so it's heat would not damage anything. My hair is thin and oily, so it's hard to curl, but this curling iron did a pretty good job. I attempted to create a spiral curl on just the front piece of my hair, so you can see in pictures what my hair looks like straight. The curl came out great on the bottom, the top did not curl much. But that's normal with my hair type and a 1 inch barrel. This product I really use to add volume and bounce to my hair, not to really curl it. To curl it, I must use a smaller barrell size. Have a look at the results in the pictures I upload. Ignore my face, as it's makeup free and needs to be washed. After I finished curling just the one piece, I turned off the power, unplugged the cord, and placed it in its protective bag so while it cooled down it wouldn't damage anything. I unplugged it to make sure it didn't get accidentally turned on, as recommended. It includes a nice safety feature; it automatically turns off on its own after 60 to 72 minutes, depending on how much power it is getting via its plug. So, no more worrying you forgot thevcurling iron on and will burn down your house! One less worry. Look at pics for results!
Effective but not the best
I bought this because it had very positive reviews and also very inexpensive. I didn't think it worthwhile to spend up to $70-100 on a curling iron. That may have been a mistake since I do use one everyday. As you notice, I have short cord as a pro and a con. Depends on what you like. I can use it for where I plug it in, but if you have some distance away from your plug, you are going to get stretched very quickly. The barrel is short as well and if you had long hair, you would be in trouble to wrap that around it. My hair is short and fine so not so much a problem. It does heat quickly and will hold a curl when I have product in my hair. If I don't have product, the curl falls out very quickly. Could just be my hair and not the curling iron at all. All told, I wish I had spent a little more money and bought a higher end curling iron. It will get the job done, just not as perfect as I hoped.
Works great for the price!
It works great for my hair. Definitely would recommend and buy again. My hair hardly keeps any curl and my hair keeps these curls well. As long as you understand your hair type and know the heat setting it should be on for your hair. Never burns my hair. I have long and thick hair i love it!
Burned my hair off
First time using it on a small section of hair, it burned my hair literally off and left burn marks as well, even using the lowest heat setting. Maybe I got a defective one but just beware…
Burned my hair and counter
I always keep the temperature of my tools at low or medium. This one shorted out the second time I ever plugged it in and burned a chunk of my hair off and left a scorch mark on my counter! Even the coating on the barrel bubbled and peeled off. Thankfully Ulta let me exchange for a different tool. Don't get this one!
Perfect for the Price
I have medium length hair, on the thin side and I was looking for something that would get me out the door quick and this did just that. The barrel was the perfect size but shorter in length than compared to Hot Tools. Don't sleep on this!
Better than my T3
I needed a smaller 1" curling iron and this one for the bill. I have it on the #5 heat setting and my hair has held a curl all day. I like it better than my T3 at home. This one does the trick! My only concern is that it might not last as long as the T3. But we shall see.
