Most Helpful Positive Review Best Ouidad styling product I have tried ALL of Ouidad's styling products and I always go back to curl quencher. I even tried the new curl immersion line and while I loved it at first I had to go back to the curl quencher because the gel made my hair way to crunchy.
This product is great for curl thin hair as it dose not weigh it down and its not greasy.
Most Helpful Critical Review Awful, drying not worth the money For this price and from this brand I would expect more. PLUS it says it is Moisturizing! Far from the truth. It made my hair dry and it felt like I put rubbing alcohol all through my hair. I wish I had known that the second ingredient is alcohol, I never would have bought it. How can it be moisturizing if it is nearly all alcohol. I wish still had the packageto return or exchange it.
Reviewed by 160 customers Love it for my 2C Wavy/Curly Hair 5

My girlfriend bought this product, but quickly realized it was not for her type of wavy hair but thought it would work for me! Yes it does! Lightweight, not sticky, leaves my hair soft and smelling great! Works well to tame the frizzies. After washing my hair, I apply my leave-in conditioner and then put my hair in my Turbie Twist. After about 5 minutes, I take my hair out of my twist and then I apply about a nickel to quarter size of the Ouidad. I do NOT comb or rake it through; I rub it all over my palms and then scrunch it onto my curly locks. This is just what I found works best for me. I tried raking it through and using it when my hair was still wet (after applying my leave in) and then putting it up in the twist, but I found applying it to my damp hair and scrunching it in produced the best result for me.
Awesome hold without the crunch! 5

I just recently started wearing my hair curly again and have been trying different products with disappointing results. I decided to give this a try as it was on sale for 50% off. I'm so glad I decided to try it. First I applied the AG Recoil cream and then applied this for hold and let me tell you it is a divine combination! If you want even better results I'd highly reccomend using the black orchid diffuser. My hair came out super curly and bouncy without being crunchy. I can't stop looking in the mirror! I will definitely be repurchasing even if it's not on sale!
Would only buy with gift card. 4

Price is too much compared to other brands.
Disappointed 1
Sandra from Massachusetts
Had really high hopes for this gel. I hear a lot of great things about this line. When I tried it, it did give me really nice curls, but, unfortunately, ruined my hair. It was extremely drying and made my scalp burn and was very irritating. After washing it out, I shed so much, never lost so much hair in a wash before. It was awful. Do not recommend.
Returned product due to fragrance. 2

This product works great but has an awful fragrance. Had to return it because the smell was giving me headaches.
Smells devine 3
dandksmommy from Fair Oaks, CA
Yes, this gel smells absolutely amasing, but unlike many of the previous reviews it just did not perform on my shoulder length, coarse, curly, 3A hair type. As curly hair gals know, you either can use a gel or a cream and I need a gel. So, I was hopeful yet I think this gel IMO might be best for ladies with fine hair/thinner not thick coarse hair like mine. Whether air drying or drying with at low temps with my diffuser I did not get any type of curl whatsoever. I did get some waves. I think my hair is just too heavy. It does smell delicious. It is a clear thin watery product that did no leave any white film. However, I will go back to LOMA since it has been the best product thus far at achieving long lasting curls for my hair.

The only gel I'll use 5
ZeeCurlGurl from Kansas
This is my favorite gel. I've bought it 4-5 bottles since June 2019! I tend to shy away from gels because I'm not a fan of the cast or how dry they make my fine, high porosity, 3b/3c hair. Normally, when I add gels to my hair, they instantly feel dry, but the texture of this Ouidad gel is so... slimy? it's easy to run my fingers through to distribute the product. For my best wash-n-go, I first apply DevaCurl Styling Cream and then add the Ouidad gel on top. I then use my Denman brush to separate and clump my curls. For extra volume, I'll defuse on medium heat until 80-90% dry. Once my hair is completely dry, I'll coat my hands in a light oil and scrunch to break the light cast. My wash-n-go EASILY lasts a week.
Miracle Product! 5
Ally from PA
This is a miracle product - I have very damaged, dry, VERY frizzy hair. It's the only product I've tried that can completely get rid of frizz and make my hair soft and shiny. It also smells so good. I use it on damp hair after I shower and sometimes I add a pump of argan oil before applying it to make sure the curls are extra defined and hydrated, but it's not always necessary. Definitely will buy again.
Been using for 10 years 4
L from Michigan
I've been using this product for 10 years. I pair it with a leave in conditioner and some oil and I get great curls every time. The only downside for me is that I feel like it does take away a little bit of shine. But get great defition, hold, and very little frizz. And to refresh the next day or two if needed I just wet my hair and put a little more gel and my hair springs back up.
Other downsides: you have to use a sulfate shampoo since it has a silicone in it. but for me I get the best results with this product. Tried going curly girl but couldn't do it fully because this gel is the only one I like. I have 3a-3b fine to medium hair. High porosity.
Referred by my sister 5
Syd from Arlington, TX
I just started using this because my sister has long curly hair and I just colored my hair. I figured that I would try it because she is very selective about what she puts on her hair, I got this and the leave in conditioner and I LOVE it! I was never the type to wear my hair down because I didn't like my girls, I was also worried since I just dyed my hair it would dry it out but it did the opposite. I absolutely love it, I wish it was cheaper but I will keep buying! It's made my curls stand out actually.
My go to gel for years 5
Nicole from Virginia
I have been using this daily for years for my curls. I live in Washington DC and this gel stands up to the humidity. With any gel, I still need a hairspray to keep my curls frizz free. This gives my curls a nice shape.
Back for keeps 5

I love this gel! I strayed away to try a different curly hair product line and I'm back for keeps. I have fine very curly hair. Even though it is a little pricey a little goes a long way. So it's worth it. I also recommend the hair cream.

"Diva girls curls" ( but use Ouidad) lol from Daytona Beach FL
I use this product after removing " turbie" towel while hair pretty wet. I section my hair and apply with hands while saturating curls. I do the rake shake routine. I diffuse my hair mostly dry not dripping . once dry I separate my curls to give some lift and fullness. And I receive the most compliments and looks.

I use this when I'm in a hurry and don't want frizzy hair.
Excellent product 5

I used only the head and humidity gel, but ordered this because it was on sale. I ended up liking this one better. It feels creamier, and the smell is subtle and great! My hair stays in shape and quite moisturized.
Decent hold without the crunch 4
NikkiB from Clearwater, FL
I have extremely frizzy, thick, curly hair, and I live in Florida so it's fair to say that I look like a chia pet for most of the summer. I do my best to work with what I have but for the most part just have to deal with the frizz. Although this product doesn't completely eliminate it for me (not sure of any product that would) it does cut it down significantly. I also like the way that it smells and that a little goes a long way. It gives me a pretty decent hold without having to deal with the dreaded crunch that a lot of gels have.
3b-3c curls stay bouncy lush with no frizzy. 5

Use after wash/condition hair. While hair wet use "Shake rake" method. Air or diffuse hair. Good to go! Expect compliments. People want to touch your curls!
I wouldn't purchase again. 1

It's okay 3

It's a typical curl gel. I did not like that there was visible residue in my hair by the end of the day
Works beautifully - but it is a bit drying 3
Liz from Pittsburgh, PA
So first of all let me say this product does create beautiful definition, it's lightweight, and the gel cast is easily softened. However, the reviews are accurate stating its drying. It is a big disappointment too because I love the way this gel makes my hair look - but I am just not okay with drying out my hair.
I should mention I have pretty fine hair, so this may not be such an issue for thicker hair types. I would proceed with caution - see if you can get the trial size for now.
Keeps curls touchable 5

3b-3c curls.not crunchy with this.soft bouncy easy to separate curls. As a bonus easy rinsing with shampoo. A little goes a long ways to justify price. In my opinion nothing works as well.
Good but slightly drying 4
Cameron from Washington, USA
I love this gel! I don't have to use a big glop of it to have hold. I have 3B curls & this works perfect. The only complaint I have is that it seems to dry my hair a bit and actual create frizz if I use it alone. The way I use this in my routine to style my hair is first applying a moisturizing serum, this gel and then a bit of hairspray & my hair looks beautiful! It's worth a try if you have curly hair.
