Most Helpful Positive Review This product is incredible
This shampoo is amazing. I'm so glad I did my research first and chose this purple shampoo over others. My hair is naturally dark blonde and I got a partial balayage 4 months ago. My hair slowly started getting warmer tones until I realized it was really orange. I've used this shampoo three times over the past two weeks and almost all of the brassiness in my hair is gone. I'm really shocked it worked this well, I saw a noticeable difference after the first wash. It lathers surprisingly well for a sulfate free shampoo and leaves my hair so soft and clean. It smells really nice, too. I leave it in for about 5 minutes, and sometimes don't feel the need to condition afterwards because it leaves my hair so soft. The picture below is a before and after of my hair at its most orange, and this morning after the 3rd wash with this shampoo. I love this stuff!
Most Helpful Critical Review Average Shampoo. Not a "purple" shampoo.
I thought this product would deposite more purple/silver tones. It did but not as strongly as I was suspecting. It works like an everyday shampoo but didn't work as harshly, toning my brassiness, as I wanted.

Wouldn't recommend. Decided to use John Frieda and it's much better.

If you are use to using Pravana or Milkshake (high end products) I do not suggest this purple shampoo. It did absolutely nothing. I bought this only because I was on vacation and this is all I could find. Spend more on the better products.

Works great, amazing price. Really does tone the blonde and gets rid of brassy colors. Smells good, such a great quality product and way cheaper than all the other ones out there!
Gentle for my heai

I like this product, is gentle for my treated hair, I also use the spray to help detangle my hair. It does not damage my hair
Not Ideal for Oily Hair
tmlane from Florida
So I will say that it does work. My hair is mostly blonde and it definitely corrects the brassy tones with about 2 washes with it a week. However, I have naturally very oily hair and I find that it doesn't feel like I've gotten all the shampoo out even when I have. I usually end up having to use a little dry shampoo after my hair is dry. Other than that, it does what it should!

I've used a couple of times and haven't noticed a difference in my highlights. It does however leave my hair very soft.
The purpliest of the purple / toning shampoos!!!
Dawnimite from Florida
Very thick, rich shampoo. Not watered down, in the least! The intense deep purple toning!
Caused HORRIBLE allergic reaction
Lauren from Vermont
I used this two times. The first time it seemed ok- smell was nice and it didn't seem to strip my hair. However, the second time I used this I had a horrible allergic reaction on my neck, chest, and shoulders that caused my skin to turn red, burn, swell, and itch. I know it was this product because nothing else in my routine had changed. Be aware if you have sensitive skin
Perfect for Grey or Blonde
tntholley from Ocean Springs, MS
Perfect for grey and blonde hair. I told my stylist I wanted to go grey about a year ago, and she put in blonde highlights to help with the process. Fast forward about nine months later, and I was a grey and brunette mix with orange ends. (Yuck!) I started watching YouTube videos on how to take care of grey hair, and that's how I learned about purple shampoo. (I've never been blonde before.) I was also trying to stick with the Curly Girl Method products and found this brand to be the only purple shampoo on the list. The first time I used it, along with the conditioner, I was shocked. My teenage daughter even noticed the difference when I walked downstairs. My orange tips turned blonde within one use! I've been using this product about twice a month for a few months now, and I've been getting compliments on the color of my grey. With Covid, a lot of women are going grey and are a bit behind me on their growth, and people are saying they want their color to be like mine. These are strangers commenting on the color of my grey! I find this easy to rotate with my other moisturizing shampoos, and often use this shampoo with a hair mask in the shower. With the low price, I have NOTHING bad to say about this shampoo!

This is actually really awesome. I had pretty yellow brassy roots and I put this on my dry roots, let sit for 5 minutes, then I got in the shower, wet my hair and put it all over my hair. let sit for like 2 or 3 minutes and I can honestly say this made a huge difference. I had been using redken and wanted a cruelty free alternative. This worked better on my yellow orange roots. But make sure you leave it on the brass for long enough. Definitely like this product.
This works best if you......

I've been using purple shampoos for years & for a drugstore option, it's not bad as I believe I've found an effective way of getting the most brightening & toning out of this so long as you don't mind the extra step. I recommend washing hair with any regular shampoo 1st to get the hair clean & this will help it to better absorb the purple pigment. Now blot hair so it's not dripping wet & apply shampoo in sections starting at the top using a bit more of the purple shampoo than you normally would. Now as you're starting to work it into the hair, do not work it into a full rich lather - the idea is to work it in thoroughly while trying to keep the shampoo as purple as possible, this will help the pigmen to penetrate the hair. Now do the same to the middle, & ends of the hair - again, do not work it into a full rich lather. You're going to allow shampoo sit on your hair as you continue with your shower - clip longer hair up so it's not inadvertently rinsed. Let it sit like this for a few minutes, at least 3 & up to like 5. I wouldn't do this w/a high end purple shampoo like Redken or something - it would turn your hair a grayish purple color, but this product is nowhere near as rich w/purple pigment. So if you follow these steps, you'll see a difference. Then just rinse & condition as usual.
Keeps natural blonde tresses bright

I started using this recently on my preschooler's light blonde hair. I didn't realize how quickly/easily blonde hair starts looking dull and discolored until she was born (no one in my family is blonde)! I wanted to try something that would keep her hair looking bright, shiny, and white-gold WITHOUT toning all of the color out. This does just that. I use it twice a week —without the conditioner— and leave it on for a couple minutes. I also like that it doesn't weigh her fine hair down, but still moisturizes and detangles enough that we don't need conditioner.
The shampoo is a deep violet with a subtle pearlescent sheen. It lathers into lavender suds, but doesn't seem to stain. I'm not sure how to describe the scent, but it's wonderful! My daughter's hair still smells great the next morning.
If you're looking for something to really tone your hair, I don't think this is it. However, if you're a natural blonde just looking to rid your hair of any discoloration I think this would be great!
Cruelty free and better than the rest !!
Maybel10 from Hawaii
So happy to have FINALLY found a cruelty free purple shampoo, for blondes. With platinum coloring, most companies use tons of harsh chemicals to rid the brass — and the chemicals are tested FIRST on animals. Knowing that whatever this awesome product is made of never touched an innocent animal is worth every penny!
Curly girl approved purple Shampoo! :)

I am very satisfied with the purple shampoo it works for yellow hair after just one wash. After a long search I have finally found a curly girl approved purple shampoo :)
For my Blonde Girls

I'm not really impressed by this shampoo it didn't really do much for my brassy hair, it wasn't very pigmented. It is really cheap I guess you get what you pay for. I did like that it didn't dry my hair out! I would probably recommend another brand for blondes
SilverSwurls from Oklahoma
Love this shampoo! It's my favorite go to when yellow or brassy colors start showing up! Love the smell and the way it leaves my hair feeling strong and healthy and perfectly toned! This purple shampoo is a keeper!!
Niaderma from undisclosed
It's a great shampoo for blondes or hi lights. I used it with the matching conditioner and it doesn't dry out your hair like a lot of purple/blue tinted shampoos.
You get what you pay for

Smells great, but does nothing for brassiness. My hair also looks and feels very dry after using the shampoo and conditioner. Definitely don't recommend.
Bri from Pittsburgh, Pa
This does not work... do not buy! My hair became more brassy after using this.
Pretty Okay-But There's Better Options
Libby B. from USA
I've used this shampoo for about a year now. My hair is naturally an ash brown/deep sandy blonde, but it is dyed blonde with highlights.
- Smells AMAZING
- lightly tones hair
- makes hair soft
- can stain scalp if not rinsed properly
- doesn't eliminate brassiness
So all in all, it's okay. There are definitely better options out there, but they range anywhere from 20-40+ dollars. Would I recommend this? For the price, yes. It does an alright job.
This product did nothing for my hair
Anon from my house
I used this and decided to leave it in for an hour because I wanted to make sure it would do something but even after an hour it did nothing, this may because my hair is strawberry blonde but I do not recommend.
The only purple shampoo that I will buy
Sheshe from Moore,Ok
I use this shampoo every 3 days on my hair and its makes it look great. I have tried other purple shampoos and none of them work like this one. Save your money and buy this stuff.
Love this Stuff

This is my holy grail for maintaining my blonde hair, and it's budget friendly! & smells amazing! I use the conditioner as well, and I'm not sure the condo does much but this shampoo 🤩👀 when I first went back blonde, it was a darker ashy kinda almost near a very light brown color and after one wash with this shampoo, it was a perfect cool light ash blonde, so pretty! Definitely had to bring it at least another level down!
Just a cautionary.

So this is like the third review of anything that I've written in my life, with that being said I have naturally very dark hair with blonde highlights, and from time to time I do experience brassiness which happens, and I've used some really expensive purple toning products and I've got to say this stuff do work, it does, however it's stained my hair. Which I guess is not a HUGE deal, that's the only reason I knocked a star off, I do leave it in for 10 mins 15 max so maybe I should lessen the time, but often times I get compliments on the tinted purp I have, so maybe try it for less time? But it is a good product that works and you can't beat the price so I'd say buy it!
