Q
Hi, does this product help with discoloration? How many days a week would you recommend using this product?
Asked by Sanjana
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Retinol helps increase skin cell turnover which can help brighten skin tone. If dark spots and discoloration are your main concerns, we recommend pairing our beginner retinol gel with chlorophyll discoloration serum for those concerns. Retinol should be used in your PM routine, every other night to start. Eventually, you can build up to using it every night. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can i use this product with my salicylic acid cleanser/serum?
Asked by Jenni
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Avoid using leave-on acids/exfoliants like glycolic and lactic acid, benzoyl peroxide, physical exfoliants, exfoliating pads, and other topical prescription medications when using retinol. Instead, just move them to your morning routine. For instance, you can use your cleanser and retinol in the same routine, but move your salicylic acid serum to your AM routine. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can you use the beginner retinol gel for near your eyes? (Crows feet)

Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! You can use our beginner retinol gel around the eye area. If you’d like, you can follow with revitalizing eye cream for added moisture and brightening. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
How long should you wait before switching to the Advance Retinol if the Beginner doesn't irritate your skin after a month or two of use? I have had only minor breakouts and some dryness in one area so far. Thanks!
Asked by Retinol Beginner
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Everyone's skin is different, but we recommend starting out with Beginner Retinol 0.1% for at least 3 months. If your skin can tolerate it well and you experience no redness or irritation, then you can start transitioning to Advanced Retinol Gel 0.5%. We always recommend patch testing first, and slowly start to incorporate the Advanced Retinol Gel 0.5% 2-3x a week. Was this answer helpful to you

I was afraid of retinol at first, but now I won't go without

First off, I would like show my appreciation for the awesome instructions on how to use this retinal gel. I was really nervous about using this initially because of all the scary and bad things people have said about retinol, like...it dries out your skin, burn easily, changes pigmentation, etc. I h...

Increases skin sensitivity for me, but still a gentle retino

I have fairly sensitive skin and have had issues with retinols and tretinoins in the past. This retinol product goes on gently and I have had no drying or redness (I paired it at night with the ceramide serum and the polypeptide cream). However, it has increased my skin sensitivity; when I tried usi...

Started using this at the beginning of the year as my first retinoid and have been loving it! Started out using 2-3 times a week and finally worked up to using every night! Really good starting point for retinol, especially if you have sensitive skin.

The gel formula is lightweight and absorbs quickly, making it ideal for layering under moisturizer. Its fragrance-free, which is a plus for sensitive skin, and a little goes a long way. I started with twice-weekly applications and gradually built up to every night in my nightly skincare routine.
