Most Helpful Positive Review I don't normally leave reviews but this shampoo deserved it!
I have dirty blonde/brunette hair naturally but have a full head of blonde highlights. I always notice my blonde getting a little brassy within a couple weeks of getting my hair done each time, and I also had been noticing a waxy feeling build-up in my hair even after a fresh shampoo (using national brands like Garnier Fructis for colored hair) My stylist recommended getting a purple shampoo that would tone my hair as well as cleanse it to get rid of the waxy build-up from my regular shampoo. I literally scoured the internet doing research and reading reviews on purple shampoos and finally went to Ulta and asked for a recommendation from the salon. I was pleasantly surprised with her recommendation for a reasonably priced product and gave it a shot! Y'all! My hair has never looked or felt better! After ONE use, there was a HUGE difference in my color! I would recommend it for sure! The instructions tell you to leave it in for 3-5 minutes before washing it out. It's a deep purple shampoo so if it's your first time trying it out, I would definitely suggest you DONT leave it on any longer than 3-4 minutes until you see how your hair will react. If you notice that your hair has a small tint of blue/purple to it, you may have left it on a little too long.

I was curious to try this shampoo and conditioner after reading so many positive reviews. The first time I used it I could not see any visible difference so I decided to give it another try a week later and this time I left it on longer... horrible mistake! Not only did I still have brassiness throughout my hair but the lightest parts of my hair turned grayish-purple. I should be able to wash that out.. not that big of deal. The worst part for me is this DRIED my hair out sooooo bad!! My niece even said my hair looked/felt like someone who was over-processed. I've used Joico Purple shampoo with great results and will be going back to it.. just thought I'd try something different. I did see someone else say the same so I hope this helps someone who may be on the fence about purchasing.

I had my hair dyed at the salon paid over $300! For my hair color was ash blonde/brown, I noticed it started to become a warmish/ginger tone. I asked the salon and because it was a week later she would of charged me again, advised to get a color corrector blue shampoo. I read about this and bought it from ultra. I left it on for over 5mins, it did lift the brass a little, it's not as ginger but I think I'm going have yo book in with ultra hair salon for a toner to see if that'll take it out. The shampoo was purplish not fully blue so I'm not sure if that is why it's not taking out the brassy tones. I think for me it's not worth the money.
MUST FOR BLONDES
Beach Bunnie from Florida
I'm light blonde with golden/brass undertones and I LOVE this shampoo! I purchased because I was out of town and it has become my favorite. It leaves purple behind but not streaks of it. Not very soapy so I was with a shampoo before. It's NOT DRYING and left my hair like silk - I didn't even need to condition! Love this product!
For the silver-rockin' beauties ♡

I highly, HIGHLY recommend this shampoo, paired with the Redken silver conditioner for all my fellow ladies and gentlemen looking to keep their silver locks looking tip-top.
I was initially using both Redken purple shampoo and conditioner duo, which did fine at keeping my platinum a not-so-brassy blonde for a short while. Not terrible, but definitely not my goal.
Then I rediscovered the trial-size wonder shampoo, namely Matrix Brass-Off in my hair color box.
As a new convert to the silver balayage life, I am incredibly glad to have had this product on-hand, and have purchased this full-size!
I was seeing a good amount of red/orange and yellow tones where the dark color met the meant-to-be silver ends. After a toning with an 050 mixture, and weekly usage of this with Redken's silver conditioner, it's all been peaches & cream!! ♡
Thus product is significantly more of a rich and shimmering blue, straight out the bottle, compared to Redken's shampoo for silver hair (which is a more dull purple).
If you have silver hair, please, do yourself and your beautiful hair the huge favour and grab a bottle of this stuff. It's literally the best, more affordable blue shampoo you'll find out there, I guarantee it!

It was an alright product . I think blondes should stay w redkin tho

So this is not a miracle product obviously. If you're brunette and have naturally red or warm hues in your hair and you've had balayage with some blonde highlights, you won't ever get your hair as cool and ashy-toned as when you first walked out of the salon, BUT, this product will get you as close as possible without a salon visit. I used it for the first time today and what a difference! The brassiness has been significantly reduced. I feel pretty close to how I felt after first getting my balayage! Definitely worth the $$ in my opinion.
I expected this to dry out my hair after reading the reviews so I followed the blue shampoo with my usual conditioner (tresemme keratin smooth w/Marula oil) then used the macadamia dry oil spray from middle to ends of hair, concentrating on the ends. That seemed to combat any dryness the blue shampoo may have caused and my hair was nice and soft :)
Best for red, blonde or white hair.

Very little is needed for my short hair. I've used many different shampoos and this had been the best so far.

Love love love this shampoo! One wash and my hair lightened at least one level and went from a bit orange to slightly brassy. Is a bit drying so i do recommend using it only when needed (maybe once a week) and using a deep conditioner along with leave in condition spray and some oils after use. everyones hair is different but this really made a difference for me personally. Im pink now so wont be needing it for a while but i will be using again once i go back blonde in a month or two! highly recommend if you have orange tones and brassy tones!
I LOVE this shampoo!

I use this shampoo every other day. I put it on as a mask and then rinse off in the shower. Works wonders for taking brassy orange colors out of my blonde hair.
YES from WORTH IT
the only purple shampoo that works for me!! a staple piece, recommended by my hair stylist & it's a YES. been using this for years & everyone always ask how i get my perfect blonde color without orange/brassy/yellow tones THIS IS IT. from black hair to balayage, this is essential.
leave it in your hair while you wash your body, don't rinse out right away so it actually works…. but also don't leave in longer than 5 min bc it can make light pieces have a temporary purple tint.
This really works!
Matrix Loyal from California
I use this about 3 times per week for the last 2-3 years now. It is the best thing you can use without making your hair feel too dry. Ive used Fanola which works extremely well but I found that to be drying on my hair.
Definitely recommend this if you have a blonde balayage. I always get compliments or asked if I just got my hair done after using this the night before.
Don't let this get on your shower or grout
Katie from Ny
So this works to help tone down brassy tones but this can and has stained my sealed grout and my fiberglass shower floor. This is a two year old shower so it's not told. The bottles for the shampoo crack easily. I didn't notice a crack and the shampoo leaked out onto the grout and shower floor and both are stained. Bleach did not remove the stains. I can remove and regrout the grout, but I shouldn't have to do that over shampoo leaking in the shower. I've noticed that this also stains parts of my scalp sometimes.
Works so good!!!
Allie from Canada
1 wash all my brass came out. I haven't used a purple shampoo in a month and I had a few long days in the sun so my hair was very veryyyy brassy.. and this worked soooo good.
Yes it worked out nicely. I got the color I wanted
I don't have one from syracuse,ny
I would buy this product again. I got the results and color I wanted in just 10 minutes.
Wish I would have found this sooner! Love it

Smells nice and really works great on my Brunette hair with Caramel Highlights. Best Shampoo I have used for my Highlights. Recommend using gloves because the Purple will discolor your nails!

Going to buy again

just finished my first bottle after a month and this has helped my hair I have a balayage ombre on dark brown hair and this got rid of my orange and brass. And no this does not stain my hands or shower if you wash hands off right after shampooing and rinse the bubbles from the shampoo off your tub or shower and don't let it sit im sure it won't stain. I also leave this on for about 2 min and rinse.
Probably my 4th bottle
Jen from Baltimo
Most Purple shampoos are drying, this one is not. I leave it on for a few minutes after scrubbing it in and I never have to worry about brassy or yellow tomes pulling through.

I returned it. Maybe it does something special after awhile, but it wasn't obvious to me. After trying a couple times the only thing different about it was that I needed to wash the blue splash spots off my shower walls & curtain. And it turned my fingernails blue! Ick. It's BLUE.
Made me more brassy!
Gcfoxmom from PA
I was hopeful for this product because my stylist suggested it. I used it the first time in the shower for about 2 minutes. Not a huge difference, if any. A few days later I tried it again leaving it for five minutes this time. My hair was so much more orange that my husband and I couldn't believe it! I took it back. I prefer pravana and other brands to this.
Removes brass, but very drying to your hair
Cici from Orange County, CA
Good at removing brass tones, but very very drying to your hair. The conditioner is no different. My hands turn a different color after using this product after, have to use soap and hot water to remove. Would not recommend because of how dry and brittle my hair has become.
Alpal from Massachusetts (MA)
This is the best toning shampoo I have ever used. I have a full balayage on natural dark brown hair. I tend to get very brassy about 4-5 washes after getting my hair done(I wash once a week)
Besides being Super messy and staining hands and nails- (its so bad that I wear plastic gloves) it works like a CHARM. I have used every purple/blue shampoo out there. This one works. Tones my blonde and the brown to a cool bright almost beige tone. On top of it my hair is left super soft and shiny. Very nourishing and moisturizing product- I use the shampoo and conditioner. I recommend only using once your hair starts fading/turning brassy- not right out of the salon. Prolongs my appointments by month's.
Not a Blue shampoo and does nothing for brassy tones
Valentine baby from Vamo, FL
This is NOT BLUE. It is a purple shampoo and does absolutely nothing g for brassy tones. Why they promote this a a blue shampoo is beyond me. Very misleading. Returning.
Not Blue Shampoo and Doesn't Work
Lyme Chick from Sarasota, FL
I purchased this because I was led to believe it to be a BLUE shampoo. Got it home and when I went to use it noticed it to be a dark purple (same as cheap drugstore brand). It did nothing to tone the orange in my highlighted hair. In fact, it seems more orange. Don't claim this to be a blue shampoo when it's not. Returning.
Good for maintenance after coloring
Julie from Maryland
Don't expect this product to get rid of brassiness in any dramatic way. It's not a professional toner, but did do a wonderful job of maintaining my bronde balayage leaving my cool toned highlights brighter for longer
brass off shampoo & conditioner
Gods gal from lubbock Tx
It did not work at all for me! I tried it twice and left it on a little longer when washing my hair but no results.
