Great Moisturizer, Comparable to Luxury Moisturizers
As a skincare enthusiast, I wanted to be thorough with my impressions of this product. I've been testing this cream for a couple of weeks and now feel confident to share my thoughts. So my general impression of this cream? Moisturizing powerhouse. I have noticed that my skin has gotten plumper and softer over the past few days, at a rapid pace, and my skin feels fantastic.
Let's start by talking about the texture. Most facial creams are lighter than this formula. Facial moisturizers usually tend to feel more gelatinous, especially the products from Korea and Japan. They tend to feel cool on the skin, which feels very satisfying. A lot of times, facial moisturizers tend to be lightly scented, and sometimes extremely scented. The Tolerance Control Cream is a very thick creamy formula, almost comparable to a hydrating body lotion. You can really feel the texture of the cream on your face, which is different from other moisturizers that are thinner and cooler on the skin. Compared to other creams I noticed my skin has been softer and plumper in a shorter period of time. The Tolerance cream is also fragrance-free, which is a feature I prefer. I like not having to smell my cream, or worry that the cream will irritate the skin.
The only part that gives hesitation is the lack of preservatives in a product that is used in the bathroom for the face when water is often used in the bathroom and could potentially contaminate the cream with bacteria. Even natural skincare formulations include a preservative to address this issue. I feel like it might be an issue down the line.
I also did a quick look up at the product's claims. This product claims to calm the skin in 30 seconds, provide 24 hours of moisturization, and help restore the skin barrier in 48 hours. I feel like most gentle moisturizers would also calm dry skin in 30 seconds. Based on my personal experiences, almost every moisturizer even heavily scented ones have calmed my skin in 30 seconds. Moisturizer will always reduce redness, make the skin feel less dry, and reduce irritation. But I do think there might be some truth to the 24 hours moisturization and claims of skin barrier restoration in 48 hours. This cream is very effective at providing moisture in a short period of time, while other creams would take a week or more to notice any effects. My skin is noticeably soft and plumper than usual. It's currently summer where I live, and the weather is hot and dry on my skin. During summer my skin tends to be drier because of the sun exposure and the drying effects of constantly blasting the air conditioner. Despite this, the areas in which this cream has been applied feel soft and moisturized, while other parts of my skin are dry.
Let's move onto some of the benefits of this cream. There are a few things I like about this cream including the lack of fragrance in it. I love K-Beauty creams, but some brands can be a little overwhelming with their scents I'm talking about you Innisfree Orchid Juju Cream.
Fragrance-free is always a great benefit. I enjoy not smelling the product and not worrying about fragrance irritating my skin. While I enjoy perfume, and I am quite a fragrance enthusiast, I prefer scentless products in my skincare line. I would rather avoid the chance of irritating my skin or dealing with scent notes that aren't to my taste. As you can tell, by the constant reviews of perfumes. The other benefit to this formula is it is also very moisturizing, which I noticed immediately. I also like the benefit of it being approved by the National Eczema Association. It means it's gentle and moisturizing enough for eczema-prone skin, which is a condition I suffer from. It seems to work as well on my Eczema as other NEA-approved creams.
So after testing this would I actually purchase this myself?
Avene's Tolerance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream is listed at $35 dollars. It's pricier than other creams I normally use. I usually spend between $8-15 on full-size facial moisturizers. But I have tried high moisturizers that retailed for $60. The Tolerance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream is definitely as equally effective as some of those luxury creams like Tatcha's. I noticed my skin felt very similar to how my skin felt while wearing Tatcha's The Dewy Skin Cream Replenishing & Plumping. The Tolerance Control Soothing Skin Recovery Cream and The Dewey Skin Cream have completely different ingredients but have similar results so it seems like a bargain buy for those who like the effects of luxury skincare. It perked my interest when I noticed that.
Overall I have enjoyed using this cream over the last couple of weeks. I really enjoy how effective the Tolerance Cream is at moisturizing. I would definitely recommend this cream to both those with sensitive skin and those who want the effects of luxury skincare. It's really a fantastic product. it performs similarly to Tatcha but is much more affordable. If I didn't have a bucket full of moisturizer samples, I think I would give this formula another shot. also prefer unscented formulas when I make recommendations, and I could see family members who are nervous about too many chemicals enjoying this clean-beauty formula. It's definitely a solid product, and I'm glad for the opportunity to have tried it.
After sun recovery.
Avene gifted me the tolerance control soothing skin recovery cream in exchange for my honest opinion. The cream comes in a sterile packaging so it remains free from preservatives. To open it, I broke off the tip and squeezed out the product on accident. The cream has a thick rich consistency that melts into my face and absorbs quickly.
I have combination type skin and medium skintone. I like to spend a lot of time outdoors and in the sun when the weather is nice and living in Texas that's often. I wear sunscreen regularly however my skin still gets affected by the sun.
After spending a day on the lake, my face felt really dry and tight for days. This face cream made my face feel instantly softer and more hydrated after application but it did make my other skin care pill so I find that it works best if it's the first step in my skin care routine, after washing my face.
I also wish the product was more specific about what it should be used for on the packaging.
Horrible breakout and red skin
I had been so excited to try this product, my first from Avene. I used it twice, two nights back to back. The first night I noticed it made my skin a little red and chose to ignore it. Used it again the next night and woke up to horrible breakout on my cheeks which I never have any acne. I have to return this, I don't know what's in it but it is NOT compatible with my skin. Also, the formula doesn't feel like a face cream or even lotion, hard to describe but not at all what any other product I've used feels like.
this is probably my favorite avene product! i ran out 2 weeks ago, but i'm trying something else first before i repurchase. i pair it with the cosrx snail mucin and they are the perfect couple! snail mucin first. my sensitive skin loves this so much, i normally look a bit red/pink as a baseline, but unless i was actually flushed, my skin tone was even and smooth! i'm almost positive i'll be switching back to this.
This recovery cream is a great product for my rosacea. When I have a flareup, it's quick at calming the burning and redness down. It also helps with my dry skin. My skin is loving it!❤️ I will definitely be purchasing this again. I highly recommend for those with sensitive skin.
The best thing I invested in
Perfect from my sensitive skin. I've been using this for a month maybe more and my skins redness hasn't been as bad. My skin looks and feels more hydrated. I have bought other products from this brand. Love this brand and grateful for these products.
The holy grail
If I could only live with one product, it would be this one
