A few tips to help you color with total confidence:
Skin Allergy Test - Madison Reed always recommends you do a sensitivity test before coloring your hair. At least 48 hours beforehand, mix 1 part Radiant Cream Color (a small squeeze) with 1.5 parts Conditioning Color Activator (a few drops). Use a cotton swab to apply a quarter-sized amount to a small patch of skin behind your ear or inside your elbow. Keep dry. Wait 48 hours. If there is no sign of change to the area, then you're ready to color. Always consult your physician if you have questions or concerns. If you've had a sensitivity to hair color in the past, you may be more likely to have a reaction.
Please see the instructions included in your Radiant Hair Color kit for the best application to achieve your desired results.
Tips and tricks from the experts - Wear a shirt or smock that buttons or zips up the front to make cleanup easy. Begin with dry, unwashed hair. The day after your last shampoo is best for coloring. Make sure hair is free of styling products as they coat hair and may block the color.
Total Color Processing Time = 35 minutes (or 45 minutes for maximum gray coverage)

- Q
I have the kit to color my roots. If I am only doing my roots do you still wear the shower cap.? If so what do I do with the bottom part of my hair. Also, I have a lot of gray by ny ears. She put some kind of pad there with color. How do you keep pads on ?
- Asked by Peggy
- Official Answer By Madison Reed - SyndicationYou can leave your hair down if it’s longer, or loosely tuck it up into the cap if you choose to wear one—the cap is simply to help avoid a mess. We don’t recommend placing pads over the color after application, as they can absorb the product instead of your hair. For best results, apply the color generously—especially to harder-to-cover areas—almost like frosting, to ensure even coverage. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
I used the 6NGV a few months ago. What do you recommend for going to a lighter color to eventually have a blonde and brown (bronde) balayage look?
- Asked by Lauren
- Official Answer By Madison Reed - SyndicationMadison Reed Radiant Cream Color is formulated with a 20 volume activator, and like most permanent hair color lines, can not lift previously colored hair. Our Radiant Cream Color can lift natural, uncolored hair 1-2 levels lighter. Due to these limitations, we’d like to ask you a few questions to better understand your goals and provide the best guidance for going lighter. If your color has faded significantly you could move to the Lucca Light Brown and then gradually move to using the Light Works Lazio Cool Toffee kit to add Balayage highlights to lighten your color. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
I have short hair n less volume , so can one packet be used multiple times
- Asked by Taj
- Official Answer By Madison Reed - SyndicationHello! We do recommend using the full kit, but if you do feel there is too much product for your hair. The ratio of color to activator is 1:1.5, if you want to split it into two applications prior to mixing. Mixed color cannot be saved. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
I am currently using Dorsolo brown. Is there a cooler version of medium brown that I could switch to? If so, can I just start at the roots only with the new color as I am 80% grey. Thank you
- Asked by CJR
- Official Answer By Madison Reed - SyndicationHello! As you have a high percentage of gray, we do recommend continuing with Dosolo Brown, as warm tones are required for gray coverage. However you can increase the processing time on the roots, up to 55 minutes, to allow more of the cool tones to deposit. We do have our shade Torino Brown, which is similar, but cooler. But we cannot guarantee it will provide the same coverage as Dosolo Brown. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q

- Q
Does this product eventually fade out of hair slightly or is it fully permanent?
- Asked by Lauren
- Official Answer By Madison Reed - SyndicationMadison Reed Radiant Cream Color is a permanent hair color line. Although all permanent hair color fades over time, giving the appearance of color leaving the hair, it actually still lives in the hair strand until completely grown out. To help increase color longevity of your color and fight fade, we suggest using a color-safe, color locking shampoo and conditioner. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Hello, I use Dorsolo brown every 4 wks. At my temples and near my bangs the color is darker paradoxical to the grey new growth. Like it is soaking up color from on the grey roots. I use a bowl and brush and try to only put product on the greys. Anything else I could do? Should I go a shade lighter? Apply those areas last? Thanks
- Asked by Cjr
- Official Answer By Madison Reed - SyndicationWhat you’re describing is very common with gray hair in those areas. The hair at the temples and bang line is often finer and more porous, which means it can grab and absorb pigment more quickly and more deeply than the surrounding hair. Even though the gray itself can be resistant, once it opens, it can take on color very strongly, resulting in those areas looking darker than the rest.Apply those areas last. This is often the most effective adjustment. Complete the rest of your gray application first, then apply to the temples and bang area during the final 10–15 minutes of processing. Use a lighter touch. Even with a brush, try to avoid oversaturating those areas. You can also lightly wipe excess product from the brush before applying. Consider adjusting shade depth. If the darkness continues even with delayed application, going a half to one level lighter for those specific areas can help balance the result. Some guests keep their main shade for overall gray coverage and use a slightly lighter shade just at the temples. Was this answer helpful to you

BEAUTIFUL COLOR - But a bit dark
This color could not be more natural looking. I was previously coloring my hair a light brown/ash blonde and wanted to go a medium/light brown copper red. The preview photos of this color are all very different. I was hoping to turn out on the lighter side, but mine came out pretty dark, but it is o...

Never Again
My color quiz matched me with lighter shades of blonde but I opted for this (it was still one of my matches) because it was darker and I am always afraid of going too light at home. According to the swatch online it did not look too far off of my natural color so I didn't think anything would go wro...
