Will this product get rid of my closed comedones AND get rid of my acne scars and hyperpigmentation? If so, is it gentle, and how long would it take?
- Asked by Betishu
- Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand EngageHi there! Mandelic Acid 10% + HA is one of our gentlest exfoliants. While regular, gentle exfoliation can support overall skin clarity, you may also wish to explore Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution. For concerns like hyperpigmentation or post-acne marks, Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA or Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner may be helpful options. Please note that exfoliants like Mandelic, Salicylic, and Glycolic acids should be used in separate routines to avoid over-exfoliation.Was this answer helpful to you

Real Talk
Let's be honest about skin care products. None of them are the miracle cure they claim. But not all products are just snake oil either. I have the fortunate of having a friend who has a chemistry degree and worked at several cosmetic companies, including some with very expensive products. She has to...

They are almost there...but are missing the mark
This product does absolutely sit on top of the skin and does not absorb. I feel that most of the product ends up on my pillowcase. I feel "oily" after using it, and it still has not absorbed into my skin by the time I actually roll over and fall asleep, which is about 2 hours after I put it on. I...

Didn't do anything for me, and very greasy
I used the whole bottle and didn't see any noticeable benefit. The serum is greasy, does not layer well with my other products, and does not absorb. A lot of it ends up on my sleep mask and pillow case.
Great chemical exfoliant
This stuff is FANTASTIC. Its a great exfoliant, but super gentle. I dont have sensitive skin but I know that if I did, I could trust that it wouldn't hurt me AT ALL. It will help with exfoliating along with cell turnover. The price is perfect, you won't be disappointed.
Love this stuff
I have been using this for a few years —i have darker skin so glycolic acid doesnt work as well. Mandelic acid makes my skin clear and smooth without being too harsh
Made me breakout
My derm recommended mandelic acid for the hormonal acne ive been getting around my jawline and chin, so i gave this product a try. I will say that it does help fade acne scars very well and it is very moisturizing, however every time i use this I wake up with a cluster of small bumps on my cheek. Based on the great reviews for acne I had high hopes for this product but its a no for my skin.
Surprising
I was amazed by this product. I have used mandelic acid before, but it was not as moisturizing and gentle on my sensitive skin. If you have very sensitive skin and have had problems with acids in the past, try this one.
