Ok, so I want to start this out with that I have very dry and color treated hair from years of having a bad stylist until about two years ago when I moved and got a new one . Now, this product is amazing because I tend to be heavy handed with creams/lotions and I end up putting on a little too much. This spray can is an absolute god send! Full disclosure, my hair is so dry that I use Miracle It's a 10 leave in first sprayed in my hands and rubbed through my hair and combed through wet hair, then I use Ouai Hair Oil from the middle of my hair to the ends, also combed through, then I use this hot toddy heat protector from the middle of my hair to the ends also combed through then I blow dry. I use more hot toddy before I straighten or curl and my hair is so soft, has zero frizz, and my hair feels like its never even seen color treatment. People say the smell is overpowering but I disagree. Maybe because my hair is so dry it absorbs most of the smell so its not as bad? Seriously thought my hair has NEVER felt like silk before until I added this Hot Toddy to my routine. THANK YOU DRY BAR
I bought this to replace the biolage one that I hated. This Hot Toddy can is small nut comes with a large price. I did not like that it can only be used on dry hair, I prefer to add my product when my hair is damp. The can is aerosol, so the mist chokes you when it comes out. My husband even told me to turn on the fan, but he's so sensitive about girl stuff.... My hair was dry, soft and shiny (I used Dry Bar Liquid Glass) after using my big ceramic round brush and my buttercup blow dryer (I'm all about dry bar!) SIDE NOTE:
I don't always flat iron my hair, so I want something that also protects against the heat from the blow dryer. So I was left with pretty shiny hair with a curl at the ends. I applied the Hot Toddy spray and it was like I added a dull layer of spray over my hair, then I flat ironed it. The result was not one I was happy with at all, I could not run my fingers through my hair anymore and my shine was completely gone. I want heat protection and shine, I know there are other products out there that offer both but come with a price tag. This product has a laundry list of not so great ingredients. So if you're willing to dish out the money and are not worried about having the all natural, paraben free blah blah blah stuff. Keep looking, Paul Mitchell has a few good ones, comparable in price. I have very tick hair, past my shoulders and is color treated only at the roots very 6 weeks. I have a natural wave and lots of frizz. I hope this helps someone!
More like dry shampoo from Seattle
I get a full foil every six weeks so I make sure that I take good care of my hair and always protect it before I use heat, I look for something that coats my hair and feels like substance. This is more like a dry shampoo, it doesn't feel like it is protecting my hair rather than just making it smell good
Jade from Long Beach CA
Helped my hair & protected it from the hot curling iron

Will protect hair and keep it bouncy and shiny. Amazing heat protectant. Perfect for fine hair

I just used it for the first time, I don't know if I feel like it really works or not I just know you're ~supposed~ to use heat protection. I use either it's a 10 or the red ken acidic perfecting, both have a heat protectant but I felt like I needed another layer of protection if I curled my hair a different day than I washed it. Ok, by now you have seen the reviews about the smell, but no one tells you WHAT to expect. I said it smells like stopping at a gas station pumping next to an 80 year old woman on her way to church - strong grandma perfume with a hint of gasoline. My husband walked in the room and said "are you spraying Axe kilo? I wore that in middle school." So, it may or may not protect against heat and you'll either smell like a grandma or a 13 year old boy.

I really like this because I can apply it to dry hair before straightening or curling. Sometimes I let my hair air dry before using my heat tools, and I like that I can still add some instant heat protection before I style. I also really enjoy the scent.

Hot Toddy smells amazing. Works perfect with the Dyson Air Wrap system. Just enough hold and not sticky. Love this product. Definitely recommend

This is a great heat protectant and an absolute must have every time I straighten my hair. I have very damaged hair from years of coloring and straightening. I can immediately tell a difference in my hair after spraying with Hot Toddy. Love, Love, Love!

This product has bright the life back into my hair! It feels super lightweight and bouncy so it does not weigh the hair down and the smell is to die for! This is a must have for heat protection!

I absolutely love this heat protector spray. I bought one and I'm going to but like 3 more to stock up now. It's been hard to find something good to use on dry hair to protect my hair from the curling iron. This spray goes on my dry hair, it smells delicious and my hair is so soft afterwards!
MY FAVORITE, on my third bottle! from SC
I've already bought 3 bottles of this!! I LOVE it, really helps with not frying your hair, doesn't leave my hair feelings sticky or like I already need to wash it and doesn't make it insanely shiny where it doesn't look good. I love how it's a dry mist and it works on dry hair a bottle will last forever. ONLY downfall is the smell, it's really strong and just doesn't smell all that great but I'd take the smell over having fragrance in my hair products because then it would dry out my hair so I'll take it LOL. Other then that best dry hair mist ever.

Some people say this smells terrible but I love it! It has a sweet smell to me, maybe cotton candy????
I needed something for day 2 hair to revive yet protect when I use my flat iron. I have very fine and thin hair but it still doesn't weigh it down, I just use it sparingly on top. I think it's great.

Helps with curly hair and does not leave a residue.

This product works very well. It's super easy to use and nice that you can use it on dry hair, BUT it smells absolutely terrible. It smells like the horrible air freshener that porta potties use to mask the smell in there. Definitely smell before you buy!!
Gma from Las Vegas, NV
I use this on my hair whenever I flat iron or use any type of heat on my hair. It protects my hair from heat.
AngelR from Nevada
Protects your hair and adds shine to dry dull heat processed hair.
Bri from The Bay Area
I purchased this because it was recommended by the lady working at Ulta. It smells absolutely amazing and it worked really well for my 4b hair. Personally I didn't spray my hair directly. I just sprayed my hands and rubbed it on the sections as I was flat ironing and it worked very well for me personally!
Heather from NH
Spray on dry hair before curling hair. Smells amazing and works great! I highly reccommend
Adreanne from WV
I mean I feel like it works fine and honestly it smells good except this weird after scent that smells like actual sewer water? Didn't make my hair smell bad or anything though
Elly from Massachusetts
This smells terrible and you can't breath after coating your hair. I've used for about two weeks and feel as if it damaged my hair a lot. My hair feels dry and strawy after I use this stuff instead of soft and shiny. My natural curls don't look the same either. Might have to rock the curls for a little until my hair goes back to normal. This stuff is so bad
Bella C from Cali
After using it left a horrible sent in my hair.
Next day i washed my hair and the smell was disgusting i had to wash twice
Nikki from Illinois
I am a professionally licensed hairstylist and have tried MANY heat protectant on clients and myself. This is just the best one I have found to use on dry hair….everything else leaves your hair wet after application and sizzles your hair :( this DOES NOT! It's such a fine mist and evenly coats without feeling heavy. Only thing that sucks is it's expensive, but it's definitely worth it.

*I recently cut my hair short, and I'm choosing to have straight hair instead of my natural curls*
I love this mist!!! I've seen some reviews about the scent, but it doesn't bother me. I'd rather have a pleasant scent on my hair than have it smelling like burnt hair. I use this after I've used the Hot Toddy cream and my hair is incredibly soft. I feel more relieved about taking a straightener to my hair daily than I have before. If you're looking for a heat protectant that's not heavy and has a pleasant scent, then this is the product for you
Annie O from Milwaukee
I'm usually the last one to comment or complain about a scented product but Drybar seems to overpower on the level of scent on the two products I've tried. The scent itself isn't bad but the level is off the charts! It gave me a headache and made me nauseous. Now that scent has created a memory and I can't even finish the bottle.
Jade from Utah
I love love love this stuff, I think it smells wonderful and I'm pregnant and the smell is awesome.. I like how it comes out and think it's a really good protectant. Makes my hair feel great, and healthy and full…
