Sticky and drying

Quick background (because I hate giving low reviews just because a product doesn't work specifically for me): I have a thicker head of fine hair that falls between 2b-3A type curls for the most part. Humid climates, my hair curls on loose corkscrews. Dry climates, my hair is fly-away and staticky. B...etween, my hair is like some type of desert bush. I have lived in all of these climate types, so that's how I know. Curlsmith's conditioning shampoo works excellently with my hair type. I can go a day without washing my hair between washes without getting oily around my hair line. However, it's not moisturizing enough to use without a conditioner or some type of leave in product. I have been trying lots of different stuff, but my hair is exceptionally picky. "Not Your Mother's" Curl Talk Defining Cream works AWESOME with my hair type, but it takes time to style--something I don't always want to have to do--and I HATE sleeping with product in my hair. It usually bothers my skin and promotes acne. However, one thing I like about the defining cream is I can just rinse my hair the next day and simple-style it without adding any other product to it and my hair looks and feels really good. Anything with aloe vera in it will horribly dry out my hair, as well as make it sticky or clumpy (from sprays to creams to oils). So, with Hold Me Softly Style Balm, I got a similar result as when I use products with aloe vera in them. My hair was heavy and sticky. I thought to give it the shower rinse try, but this product felt gross even as I was rinsing it in the shower--my hair felt sticky and rough--and I ended up just washing it out. I used it five times to try different amounts and styles and just don't like it at all.
