I didn't like this product. it didn't detangle and once it dried it left a white cast. I tried using it with dry hair, wet hair, in the shower but nothing worked. I ended up throwing it away.

I have type 4a, high porosity hair. Detangling is the bane of my existence. THIS STUFF IS MAGIC. It has a very slimy gel texture, but it melts through tangles like nothing else. I had my crochet braids in for 6 weeks recently and did not shampoo like I should've (I'm a working mom of a toddler, life's crazy!) so the gel and shed hair had formed all these knots throughout my hair. I couldn't get a comb or brush through out. After using this, I was able to get most of them out with my fingers and the rest came out with my Tangle Teezer brush without ripping out a bunch of my other hair with it. The only downside is that I don't care for the smell- it doesn't linger but when you put it on, it's very strong. However, I was also using a lot of product due to the circumstances. On a regular wash day, I would probably need half the amount or less. Lastly, since my hair is high porosity I found that this product absorbs and dries quickly. But applying water to your hair will reactivate it, no need to keep layering on more.
