Most Helpful Positive Review Best Line I've Tried So Far!! I am 6 months in to going natural and have easily spent 1K in products so far. This line blew me away!!! The smell is divine!! Very light and not too overwhelming. It's very lightweight yet hydrating on my hair which is important to me since I have LP hair. It's line is fabulous!! I can't say enough good things about it.
Most Helpful Critical Review Just MEH I don't get why this is getting such good reviews. I got both this and the CurlSmith Souffle. It doesn't do anything for my 3B curly hair. After seeing the amazing results people were posting online, I wanted to try this (have been using DevaCurl for over a decade).
- You have to use a LOT of product. Way more than previous DC products I have used. Even then...
- By the end of wash day, it already looks like I'm not wearing any product on my hair at all. By the end of the day, my hair loses definition and starts to frizz. Day 2 hair looks dull and undefined. Day 3 hair looks like I've been crawling in a cave for 5 years.
- The bottle is super cheap - like a 25-cent water bottle thickness. You have to really squeeze to get the product out, and I think I'm one squeeze away from cracking it.
Bottom line - if this was a drugstore product labeled "curly" I'd give it 3 stars. But this is not drugstore priced. Can't wait to get to the bottom of it and return my hair to the DevaCurl products that I know and trust.

i bought the conditioner about 3 months ago and i have definitly noticed hair growth. I used to have a fair size peach fuzz area in the top of my head. That balding spot now has hair and my scalp is covered!
Have to see if he likes it 5

My husband seems to like this product.
lacking moisture 3
TPena from NJ
I've tried to like curlsmith but their products fail to moisturize my type 4 hair, I love that the products have clean ingredients but for the price they need to pack more moisture and slip.
Not my favorite. 2

I was recommend this product by an employee of Ulta. I used to use another product. I was looking for something different. I should have stick what I was using before.
I would purchase this product again 5

I normally wash my hair and add this product after to hydrate my curls. You can even use it on dry hair, just add water to your hands and rub in your hair, squeeze some of the product in you hand and add to hair.
My Fine, Porous 3C Curls Love it! I bought a jumbo size! 5
Mrs. Curley from Maryland
Curlsmith is a Godsend for my hair! I am a natural redhead with fine, lower-density, high-porosity 3C curls. I have tried just about every curl-oriented product out there, and have tried to do the "Liquid-Oil-Cream" method several ways, even using a tiny amount of "dry oil." But my hair would still look greasy and weighed-down. FINALLY this "Oil-in-Cream" leave-in conditioner has oil to smooth and seal my porous hair cuticles, but doesn't make me a grease-ball! I love it. I use it in the shower with sopping wet hair. (A little goes a long way.) Then out of the shower, I layer on a styler to define my curls. (My fav stylers are the Hold Me Softly cocktailed with Shape Up Auqua Gel or just the Styling Souffle.) Then I let it air dry. My curls are defined, hydrated, and bouncy! Even in the dry winter air (which typically makes my hair flat and frizzy). My hair is fine, so it gets weighed down easily. This doesn't do that! YAY! I do NOT understand the fuss that some other reviewers have made over the scent of these products. I am EXTREMELY sensitive and allergic to perfumy or chemically-scented products (to the point of having asthma attacks and migraines). But Curlsmith products don't bother me at all. And I have tried most of their products. The scent is nice, and it fades quickly anyway. (I suspect a competitor may be writing phoney nasty reviews).
Perfect for type 4 hair 5
HeyitsKimberlee from NYC
This is perfffect for my type 4 hair. SO moisturizing and I like that it's a thicker cream since I have thick hair. It smells really good and gave me really nice definition for my braidout. I used the soufflé with it. Didn't love the consistency of the soufflé but I did like the results. It would definitely not work on a wash and go for me but it's great for twists, braids, and protective styles.
Great for my daughter, not for me! 4
Shay from United States
I have 2b/2c type hair. While this definitely conditioned my hair, it weighed it down and it felt very oily. So much in fact, I washed my hair again the next day. However, my daughter has 3c hair and this made her hair look and feel amazing. She isn't a fan of gels, and does conditioning washes most of the time. This helped reduce frizz and improved the overall appearance of her hair. She was pretty unimpressed, but she's not thrilled about using products at her age.

Wanted to love this but made my hair look dirty. Returning the unopened one
Too Greasy 2
Vebra from Florida
My hair is wavy to curly and fine. This product felt nice going in my hair but left it greasy. I though I added too much, so I lightened up on it the next time, but it was still greasy:(
My favorite Leave-In Conditioner 5
Curly Paula from Owatonna, MN
This is my favorite leave-in conditioner and I've tried them all (Ouidad, Deva, Shea mouisture and so many more)! I like this because my curls seem to behave better. It's lightweight and doesn't seem to cause build-up. I only wash my hair 2x a week, generally, and this is a great addition to cleansing, conditioning, and styling.
I pair this with the styling soufflé 4
Crybaby from Texas
Love it! However, my 2C/3A hair needs a cream and gel like product, so I use this before putting on the styling soufflé. It's consistency is thicker than a leave in conditioner, but surprisingly it did not weigh my hair down like I thought it would. Since this is a pricier brand, I recommend buying a travel size to test it out.
My hair is greasy and stiff… 2
Coco from Oregon
It gave my hair such a gross texture. I can hardly get it into a bun to sleep because it's still so stiff after a whole day. I guess that's the one good thing… the style lasted all day…
Absolutely love it. 5
Madie from Maryland
This product is the only product I love from this line. I have type 4, thin, high porosity hair and this product doesn't weigh my hair down and moistures my hair just right. This is my second time getting it. If you try it you won't be disappointed.
My hair LOVES it! Enough said. 5
JB from Fife Lake MI
I apply it and style my hair that's it. My hair feels so soft and nourished, it smells amazing too! Definitely buying it again and again. I love it!
Good stuff! 4

Stylist was able to us this product and make my hair look amazingly beautiful
Best Leave In 5
Talia from San Diego
The only issue with this product is the bottle it comes in. Because the product is so thick, it's really hard to get it out of the bottle without having to take the cap off and bam it on the counter/my hand. The product itself is hands down the best leave in conditioner I have ever used. My hair is thick, low porosity 3C hair. I will never go back to using any other leave in.
Amazing 5

I love it ,I have fine, curl and super dry hair, and that product I've been using before wash conditioner and worked Amazing...I can't live without Curlsmith, thanks.
I Keep this on hand! 5
MegMill from Raleigh, NC
My curls come out perfect with this product and hydrated. I have 3b/c hair and I curl rod my hair for definition. I wash my hair apply this then apply a second leave in on top of the oil in cream. It acts as a base and really locks in the moisture of the combined products. I like it !
I don't think I would get the same results if I used just this product alone with no other leave in.
Not for me 2
Lizflygirl from Illinois
I used this product after my shower and a comb then hand scrunching. The product is difficult to get out of the bottle. Not right for my hair, caused it to weigh itself down and very sticky/greasy. Would not buy again.
Stringy look 2
Emma from Indiana, US
My hair looks stringy and greasy no matter how little I use! It also causes my hair to knot a little more than usual I've noticed!
3A curls, finer hair
The BEST leave-in for type 4 hair! 5
Mia from Flawda
This is the best leave-in I've ever used in all my years of being natural. Since shea moisture discontinued the low porosity line I've been searching for the right leave in. This is now my staple even though it's kind of expensive my hair loves it!
Amazing, a little goes a long way 4
Madison from Utah
I love this stuff! My coarse, low porosity, looser curl pattern loves this stuff but if you get too much or too close to the roots it will cause your hair to be weighed down
Amazing oil 5
Mile from Kansas
this oil cream leaves your curls define and soft, not crunchy at all, really like it
This works great on my type 4 hair 5
Queenie2628 from NJ
I have type 4, low porosity hair and purchased this cream since I was looking for a leave in. The cream is light to medium in consistency and I have used this straight-on damp hair and it left my hair very moisturized. I have also used this after spritzing my hair with water to refresh some braids used for a protective style. When I took the braids down my hair was incredibly soft and shiny. If you are looking for moisturized non greasy hair and you have kinky coily hair I would give this a try. I think this could be used as a primer for a styling gel as well. I used this to shingle my hair after washing and it held a nice coil to my hair, this is a must have for me.
