I have been using 2 parts light brown to 1 part copper to achieve the natural red brown/Auburn shade that matches my natural. Would the Auburn shade be a good alternative to always having to custom mix? I don't want that burgundy or Crayola red tone, more chestnut brown. Thanks in advance!
- Asked by Mattie
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGloss+ Auburn could be a great alternative to your current Light Brown + Copper mix. It’s a warm red-brown shade that may give you a similar result without the custom blending. Since you’re looking for a natural, chestnut finish (not burgundy), we recommend doing a strand test first to make sure the tone works for your hair and goal. If it skews too red, you can always adjust with a bit of Light Brown or Sheer. Was this answer helpful to you

I have natural no dye dark brown hair and about 25% grey (my grey is white). I want to freshen and darken my brown hair but not change the white. Can i use the black and follow up with the purple to clear anything that sticks to the white? Will purple leave the black deposit in?
- Asked by Al
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageThanks for your question. Since your natural color is dark brown, we recommend using Gloss+ in Dark Brown instead of Black, which can appear too harsh and reduce contrast with your white or gray strands. Gloss+ won't fully cover grays but may slightly tint them. If you want to keep your grays bright, avoid applying the product to those areas. If you're mainly looking to refresh your tone and add shine, Gloss+ Sheer is a great option. It won't darken your hair but will enhance overall vibrancy. Purple shampoo is meant for blonde, silver, or gray hair and won’t remove Gloss+ pigment, especially darker shades. A strand test is always a good idea to preview results before applying all over. Was this answer helpful to you

Can you put this product in clean dry hair and then rinse it out?
- Asked by Nicole
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageFor best results, we recommend applying Gloss+ to clean, damp hair—not dry. Damp hair helps the product spread evenly and absorb more consistently. Applying on dry hair may lead to patchy results or uneven color payoff. So be sure to shampoo first, towel-dry, then apply Gloss+ evenly from roots to ends. Leave on for up to 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and follow with conditioner if needed! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Is the pigment from the glossy glaze the same pigment used in the Gloss+
- Asked by Allie
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGreat question! While both products add tone and shine, Glossy Glaze uses a temporary tint that gives subtle color and rinses out more quickly, while Gloss+ uses semi-permanent dye pigments designed to last longer and deliver deeper, more noticeable color. So no, the pigments are not the same—Gloss+ offers more intense, buildable color, while Glossy Glaze provides a sheer tint and shine that fades with each wash. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
What's the difference between this product and the glossy glaze?
- Asked by sarah
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGloss+ is a semi-permanent that deposits color and deep conditions—perfect for boosting or refreshing your shade. Glossy Glaze is a quick shine treatment with a hue of tint. Some shades, like Cool Blonde, offer subtle toning effects, but it doesn’t deposit color like Gloss+.(some shades tone, like Cool Blonde) but doesn’t deposit color like Gloss+. Use Gloss+ for color, Glossy Glaze for shine! Was this answer helpful to you

Seems to work
I really hesitated to buy this because of the price and I wasn't sure how it would work but Ulta has such a libral return policy I thought I would try it. I used this when my hair had a lot of gray roots and I should have been using a box color like I usually do so this was a pretty tough test of th...

Does not work!
Discovered this at Ulta by accident. I was excited about this product. I'm getting tired of root touch ups every 2 weeks. Well it did nothing. I left it on for 40 mins. As I was waiting, it looked like my roots were turning golden brown. I needed darker, but I would have been fine with it. Washed ...

Pink Hair
Beware of using the copper color on haur that has ever been bleached. You will 100% get pink! I didnt listen to reviews and wish I would have!!
My go- to for a quick refresh!
This is my go-to whenever I need a quick color refresh. It takes me about 30 minutes to apply and I leave it on for another 25–30 minutes. I alternate between dark brown and black, sometimes I mix both. The result is always rich, pigmented color with a super glossy, healthy- looking finish. I just wish the results lasted a bit longer after a few washes, but overall, it's an amazing at-home gloss for instant shine and vibrancy! I wish I could add before and after pics, but its not letting me.
wouldn't recommend
I have long, thick hair and was expecting to use a lot of this product with minimal results, but wanted to try anyways. I was able to get the color to show after two uses, and thought it did a good job at conditioning. However, my entire shower, my hands, and my scalp were stained for days. The color rubs off on everything I wear, and ruined a couple of my shirts. not worth it.
WAY too messy, with MINIMAL results
Hair Type Very Curly Hair
My hands and my shower were stained, but my hair showed ZERO results. Did not even make my hair feel softer. In fact it made it feel a bit rough and staticky! It's just a cheap conditioner that looks colored but it does not add color to the hair at all. It needs an activator to penetrate the hair. Maybe if your hair was super damaged- the damaged pieces would pick up tone, but that would be spotty I imagine.
I would buy this product again
Hair Type Straight Hair
It adds a little color to your hair and a lot of shine
