Most Helpful Positive Review So glad I found this!!! I just use this on my thick wavy frizzy hair and I love the curls it gave me. My hair is curly/frizzy in the summer and indecisive waves in the winter that go frizzy and flat so I always end up straightening it in the colder months. This gave my curl definition and made my hair look healthy and fun! I did use a little gel for better hold. If you are on the fence, go buy it and try it a couple of times with the right amount for your hair. I do imagine that it could weigh thin hair down a bit, but if you have frizzy thicker hair or waves or curly hair then you will love it! I will update in the humid summer months.
Most Helpful Critical Review FORMULA CHANGE, see image attached so upset because this product used to be SO BUTTERY!!!! BUT now, its watery and leaves my 4b/4c tresses DRY. see attached to understand why.

Not really clean? 3
Em from Az
To start off I have 2c-3a hair which is damaged, tends to be dry, I love the conditioner for this line so I thought
"Why not try the shampoo?"
So I did, but what I've noticed is it's hydrating, yes, but it leaves my hair incredibly greasy, it does not clean my roots what so ever, or any of my hair, I will admit I get product buildup but I feel like a shampoo should be able to get rid of most of it. I love the conditioner for this line; my hair literally absorbs everything it has to offer. So in conclusion, if you use products between wash days like a dry shampoo or a leave in, I don't recommend. I use dry shampoo commonly, very sparingly though, and it barley gets rid of it. Love shea moisture but this isn't very nice…
Formula Changed 1
CrazyCurlyOne from Florida
I found this product yearssss ago when I first started the Curly Girl Method. It was very runny, white and much lighter. I ended up repurchasing it and when I opened it, it is incredibly yellow and thick and the ingredient list is completely different. I don't use it everyday to care but in general, Shea Moisture was my Go To absolutely favorite brand and I used their shampoo and conditioner for about 8 years— but I noticed it a couple of months ago stripped my hair and caused an insane amount of frizz. What a shame. I will never buy another Shea Moisture product. They used to have amazing ingredients, now they have all weird chemicals and the smells changed badly. Now I'm on the hunt for my new everyday shampoo and conditioner.
Curls poppin'!!! 5

Not heavy and it made my curls pop and look hydrated.
It's perfect 5

You totally need to apply this to soaking wet hair, and then scrunch it!!! My hair never dries frizzy anymore and my curls set perfectly
Just ok 3

This made my hair greasy and felt sticky all day. I had to wash my hair way more often than normal. My waves/curls are a blend of 2c/3a. It smells really nice.
Not good 1

I wanted to try something new to help my hair get healthier but this was just not it. My hair feels dry yet greasy?? at first I thought it was just me not rinsing it out fully but it's definitely the formula. The smell reminds me of hair dye too.
absolutely not 1

this shampoo ruined my hair. my hair would look good for an hour after i diffused it, but after that it would be so greasy and look like i hadn't showered in days. would not recommend any shea moisture products to my worst enemy
Definitely changed...for the worse :( 3
Joss from Jefferson City
They've definitely changed the formula. This was my favorite product & I used it every single day. This new version absolutely sucks. My hair is somehow greasy & frizzy at the same time & the texture is awful. Sheamoisture, please please change this back now!! :'(
It's ok 3

I can't tell if it's cleaning my hair or not cause it doesn't get bubbly, maybe my bottle is weird.

Something must have changed in the formula I remember buying this a few years back and it had left my hair manageable, but nowadays all it does is leave my hair very greasy.
I'm greasy? 2
ElanaRiv from Phoenix
I have 3a curls and I got this because I read it was good for the frizz. Well, my hair isn't frizzy, but it's super greasy? I went to the gym and literally left grease marks on the bench. Embarrassing. Also, this product is so thick you can't get it out of the bottle without removing the cap. I had to water it down a little just to think out the consistency.
Great for 2b hair! 5

I have very thick, very wavy, and also quite fine hair. I've been searching for years to find the right products for my hair. I love my waves but couldn't get the combination right.
Until now.
I used my normal shampoo/conditioner routine (in my case Living Proof Restore), then the Living Proof detangling spray, and then I used this stuff, following the instructions on the container.
I "plopped" my hair using a 100% cotton tshirt for about 15-20 minutes. After air drying, I just finger comb. It's not crunchy, my hair is shiny! Could not be happier!
Love it!!! 5

I have 3a curls and this did wonders on my hair. I don't use this as a leave in conditioner, but I use this as a curl cream. This product is very thick and it doesn't weigh down my curls. This smell is very strong but it smells soooo good.
Hate it 1
Josie K from Greenville
So, I have 3c curls and it's super hard for me to keep my curl pattern (low porosity hair here) and it worked when I did it for the first time when my hair was damaged, now that my hair is healthy, it doesn't define my curls, it takes them out and leaves white residue in there. Scrunching does not help. It's a no from me
i tried.. 2

I wanted to get on board with the hype. I hoped it was a tried and true as everyone made it out to be. & now believe me I know what might work for one doesn't mean it will work for someone else. long story short it dried my scalp out. :( mind you I only wash my hair every 1-2x a week. but when it's says moisturizing?!? how does it dry me out? I gave it 2 stars bc it has a decent smell and lathers well.
Works great! 5

My kids and U all use this and it helps with the frizz and the curl pattern. Highly recommend.
Shea moisture shampoo 5

If you have thick curly hair this for you it helps your hair grow and silky and soft and it's also vegan
It's alright, does the job 3
Michelle from El Paso, TX
I have wavy/frizzy hair, and it seemed like this would be good for both. It does a good job of defining curls and keeping frizz at bay, but it does leave a cast, so you would have to scrunch your hair after it dries. I usually only wash my hair 3 times a week, so I left it alone for the next day. I woke up and my hair just looks greasy. Not at the roots (cause I didn't apply product there) but on the mid-shaft and ends. It's not recommended to wash curly hair everyday, but it looks like my hair hasn't been washed in a week. If you wash your hair everyday, I think this is a great product. But I personally won't be buying this again.
At first I thought I wouldn't work but it actually did 4
Irene from Maryland
I don't recommend it using just this by itself but yes with others products.
Not for me 3
Alexia from Ohio
It was too heavy for my hair. I have 2B/3A and it weighed down my curls. I prefer the curl milk.
Game Changer! 5
Kels from Michigan
I have spent so much money on products that claim to help decrease frizz. The state i live in has horrible humidity and this product was a miracle product. It enhanced my curls and i had virtually no frizz. I have 3a hair and this product is amazing!
Great moisture 5
Patricia from Kansas City, MO
Although Shea's website recomends the Daily Hydration shampoo for my curl type, my hair prefers the extra moisture from the Curl and Shine shampoo.
Obsessed!! 5
Lily from Oklahoma
I love this product, makes my 2a-3a curls so soft and pretty! It doesn't make my hair oily, or make it feel like I put product in it. Would recommend!
