Q
I've used clarifying Lotion 1.0 and 1 depending on the dryness of my skin. I've been struggling with acne this summer but I feel my skin is still dry. Which clarifying lotion would you recommend?
Asked by Heather
Official Answer By Clinique US
Thank you for your great question! If you have persistent acne with 3 or more pimples regularly, we recommend the Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion, as it will help to treat and prevent acne more effectively. In addition, the higher level of exfoliation can also help with dryness, as it allows your moisturizer to absorb more easily and work more effectively. Add an oil free moisturizer to prevent dryness as well. Moisture Surge 100 Hour Auto Replenishing Hydrator is a great option. To see and feel these products, please visit your local Ulta. Was this answer helpful to you

I have skin that is prone to acne. I also use tretinoin cream so I cant use anything that has alcohol or is too drying on my skin. Would this be suitable for my acne prone skin?

Q
Why is there even alcohol in the Clarifying Lotion 1 if it designed for very dry skin; why not just have the 1.0? My personal question is understanding the difference in clarifying lotions. I want to use the acne one but am afraid it will be way too drying...I have very dry skin but still suffer from adult hormonal acne. Which clarifying lotion should I use and with what moisturizer combination that will help with both acne and dryness (not an easy combination to work with!)
Asked by sher
Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi! Thank you for your question. I understand your concern with Alcohol, but please know that the alcohol we use is a cosmetic, denatured alcohol that is safe for skin. It will not dry your skin out if you have the correct formula for your skin type. Alcohol is used as a cleansing agent, keeps the product in it's liquid form and also allows the product to evaporate from the skin quickly. If you would like something that is oil free, you can use the 1.0 clarifying lotion. If you are suffering from acne, you should use an oil free moisturizer like Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel or Clinique's Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief formula. Is the dryness you are referring to a tight and uncomfortable feeling or is it flakiness that you see on the skin? Please let me know a little bit more about your skin and I can best determine the best solution for you. Thank you for your question and I look forward to working with you soon! Have a great day!Was this answer helpful to you

I am obsessed with this toner! Coming from being on accutane for the past eight months, my skin was disgustingly dry and irritable. I also suffer from getting a lot of red bumps and ingrown hairs from shaving my face. (I am a beautiful man BTW) this really helps to smooth out my skin and even calms ...

Best toner for extremely dry skin

Clinique 1 NOT 1.0 is the best for dry to very dry skin. I have been using it for years, tried another brand and quickly went back. Great to use in tandem with Clinique's Dramatically Different Lotion.

I wear glasses ansbi always get blackheads on the bridge of my nose where my glasses sit. I have tried so many things to get rid of them but they either didnt work or caused too much irritation. This toner works. They are gone and my dry, sensitive skin is still behaving.

Not drying and works with my skin products!

My routine is cleanse, maybe a second cleanser for acne depending on how my skin looking, tone with this toner, Vitamin C in them morning or HA at night, and then moisturize. My skin does so well with this toner, I've tried other toners and they make all my products pill so I think the denatured alcohol does help to keep my skin a bit dry without drying it out so all my other products properly absorb.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
