This works well on my aging, dry combination skin. It isn't drying and seems to do the job of exfoliating well. I removed a star because the bottle isn't a dropper cap, like with toners or other exfoliants. More than once I've turned it over and accidentally dumped out a bunch of product because I forgot that it's just a full bottle opening. Waste of product and a mess. Add a plastic disc to the end with a small hole like other products and this would be 5 stars easily.

Why is there even alcohol in the Clarifying Lotion 1 if it designed for very dry skin; why not just have the 1.0? My personal question is understanding the difference in clarifying lotions. I want to use the acne one but am afraid it will be way too drying...I have very dry skin but still suffer from adult hormonal acne. Which clarifying lotion should I use and with what moisturizer combination that will help with both acne and dryness (not an easy combination to work with!)

It will not dry your skin out if you have the correct formula for your skin type. Alcohol is used as a cleansing agent, keeps the product in it's liquid form and also allows the product to evaporate from the skin quickly. If you would like something that is oil free, you can use the 1.0 clarifying lotion. If you are suffering from acne, you should use an oil free moisturizer like Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel or Clinique's Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief formula. Is the dryness you are referring to a tight and uncomfortable feeling or is it flakiness that you see on the skin?
