Most Helpful Positive Review I use this every day
I'm glad I bought this before I read some of the negative reviews. Everyone has such different skin and I may have stayed away from this product once I read those, I'm glad I didn't! For reference: I am 44, acne prone, with dark skin and have eczema -- I'm allergic to a lot of products. I am also using a product for my acne called Tazorac so sunscreen is a necessity. I found this product to rub in well, it feels good, does not irritate, and I didn't feel like I had that white film you often get with sunscreens. I wear under make up and my make up goes on smoothly after. I do wait about 10 min post shower to put the lotion on, and wait until after I do my hair to apply my make up which I think helps with having it absorb and layering under make up. (If I put on the lotion while my skin is damp, it doesn't absorb well, and if I apply my make up immediately after, I do feel like it's a bit too much). I really like using this as it doesn't irritate with my eczema, moisturizes, does not cause break outs, contains the sunscreen I need and looks good under make up.
Most Helpful Critical Review Combination/Acne Prone Skin -okay not great
I'll start by saying I really wanted to like this product. As someone with acne prone/combo skin, I'm hesitant to stray from my typical regimen. I use a benzoyl peroxide face wash as well as topical prescriptions (clindamyacin and retinol cream...both drying)to manage my acne per a dermatologist. In the past the best lotion experience I've had is with aveeno positively radiant. It's been getting pricey so figured I'd try something else in the same price range with the hopes of getting more for what I spend. I thought if anything a lotion labeled as being for normal to dry skin would be too heavy for me normally but may be a good option before and during winter as I do get dry then. I've been using the Cerave AM at morning and Cerave PM lotion at night hoping to beat the winter dryness before winter. After a few days of use, I'm debating going back to aveeno. It absorbs quickly, isn't greasy and overall I like the feel of the lotions. However I feel like my skin isn't as moisturized as it's been with other products. Maybe the people with naturally dry skin have a different experience b/c their skin is naturally dry and any added moisture helps. But for someone who typically suffers from dry skin only in the winter, I'm noticing rough patches (after swapping to this line) and it's just nearing the end of summer. I don't usuallywrite reviews, but noticed there didnt seem to be many for people with my skin issues. Just writing for all my acne/combination skin friends out there. Any other recommendations are appreciated. I debated trying just the traditional? Cerave..seemed like more of a heavy duty all over moisturizing cream. Might still give that a go in the winter.

Left a horrible white cast. Never applied smoothly it peeled and fell off of my face no matter what was layered with it. I was so disappointed. Truly should have returned it.
I would love to buy it again

In the morning wash your face put your favorite serum then put it on top
Juice from Los Angeles
Initially it was ok but the next couple of days I noticed texture bumps aalll over my face. I got it in a dermatologist goodie bag so luckily I didn't purchase it
Smells and pills
Az Girl from Arizona
Smells like sunscreen, pills, and burns if it gets into yours eyes. I have oily skin and this moisturizer leaves my skin extremely shiny and oily.
Not for me
Marydlsu from Baton Rouge
I decided to try a zinc based sunscreen moisturizer after reading the claims that it has nano zinc particles that are supposed to be well absorbed. I disagree with this claim. It does absorb into the skin, but it takes a few minutes to get the white cast to go away and some patches of skin have to really be rubbed. The formula also isn't that moisturizing. Overall, this product didn't work for me. I doubt I'll finish the bottle. There's better spf moisturizers out there.
Feels light on skin. Great base protection before applying .
Lisa from Wisconsin
Good moisturizer and protection.
Michelle from Los Angeles, Ca
I read many of the reviews posted and wanted to believe more of the positive reviews than the negative but this product is an immediate no. It left a white flaky residue and with only using this product for a couple days, it left my skin very textured and dry. Definitely do not recommend.
Perfect product - but get it somewhere else 🤷🏻
Omie One from Philadelphia
perfect product for my oily skin! Crazy how it helps control oil. LOVE it. ($10 at BBB)
Was not for me or my friends.
Cal from Covina, CA
I sweat very easily and this was a nightmare to rub in. It takes forever to blend into the skin, often leaving patches of white behind. For some reason, I would drip sweat every time I had this on; it was so heavy and thick and it felt as though my face had a thick layer over it. I now use their daily moisturizer with some Sunbum sunscreen instead... this product was not for me.
Lana from Oxford, AL
Are use a ton of CeraVe products but this one was not impressive. It is streaky and the more I try to blend the worse it would look. I'm still looking for a good SPF 30 sunblock that I can wear by itself or under my make up but I would not recommend this one for either.
Doesn't blend into the skin
Kayla from Omaha
For some reason this product doesn't blend into the skin. It stays white on my skin and actually clumps up. I don't recommend this if you have any type of melanin in your skin because it will leave you looking white.
Probably good for a sunscreen but wouldn't buy for lotion
Lauren from USA
The lotion doesn't blend well into my face leaving a white cast on my face.
The sunscreen smell is prominent a few minutes after applying to face.
After everything is set in my face just doesn't feel moisturized no matter what I do.
It says oil free but by hands are left super shiny, I can't see it well, but I imagine my face looks the same way.
Somehow works for me
Hazel from Indianapolis, IN
This is probably the first time ever that my experience with a product has gone against the majority of reviews. I only have this moisturizer on standby when my skin feels particularly tight and irritated. I only use concealer and powder for my face makeup on a day-to-day basis right now, so I don't really have issues with it pilling under my makeup. I still prefer CeraVe's lightweight moisturizer when my skin behaves, but it's nice having this one on hand. My skin is so pale that I've never experienced a white cast from sunscreen, so I can't speak to that.
Don't trust it.
Brina from South Florida
I don't have sensitive skin but I use moisturizer everyday. I figured it's time to add in one with sunscreen - big mistake. After one day I woke up with pimples and a rash all over my face!
Not a good product for me
Evic from Salt Lake City, UT
This face lotion does not sit well on my skin. It leaves stringy bits all over my face and if I rub my face at all it creates more stringy bits. It also leaves me looking pretty greasy even though I have pretty average skin that isn't greasy to begin with. It doesn't seem to help with my dry patches on my face either which doesn't make much sense. Maybe it's just this way for me but I'm not satisfied with this product.
Not for me
Lu from Sc
Leaves my face with a white cast and can't be used under make up
Yes it smells like sunscreen, yes it sucks
Kco from Atlanta
My big issue with this product is it doesn't absorb! Ever! I was putting minimal on before taking my dog outside and it was swearing off, I thought ok, it needs more time to absorb. I started putting it on after my morning walk and 6 hours later on my afternoon walk it was melting off my skin into my eyes and felt so heavy. Technically you should be reapplying this product and applying a decent amount which you can't do without your face feeling so heavy.
More sunscreen than moisturizer
Krista from Bangor, ME
Overall this is a great sunscreen; however it shouldn't be marketed as a "moisturizer". I also find that when I use the CeraVe retinol serum underneath it (which I do daily) it causes the sunscreen to "pill" on my face giving it the appearance of dry skin. Waiting 30-45 minutes between putting the retinol and sunscreen on my face seem to help but not always. I love CeraVe products and will continue to use them, but will most likely stay away from this particular item.
Pills and balls under makeup, waxy buildup feeling. Gross

I can't find any good uses for this
Great in conjunction with a moisturizer
Renabean from Albany NY
First off, moisturizers like this BY THEMSELVES have NEVER worked for my skin, but in conjunction with a non-spf moisturizer, it worked really well. It is a light moisturizer so it can be use year round without feeling heavy. I wouldn't rely on this as a primary moisturizer. My skin feels smooth, protected, and it doesn't cause me to break out (which doesn't take much). Again, this is basically just an spf light moisturizer. I highly recommend using a moisturizer for your specific skincare needs and then this product.
would not recommend
Lynn from Florida
this lotion is supposed to be oil free, yet it's greasy. Obviously not compatible with oily skin types.. And the smell is horrible!
BAD FOR NORMAL SENSITIVE SKIN
Kris from Orlando, Fl
I fell in love with this product at first. I thought everything was perfect. Unfortunately it caused devastating breakouts while wearing mask to otherwise perfect skin. My skin is dry and cracked and now has terrible acne scars. If your skin is normal and clear and even a little dry but usually you only need water DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. IT WILL RUIN YOU
White cast and pilling
Amy from Texas
Doesn't absorb well, leaves horrible white cast, and starts piling within 10 seconds of trying to rub it in. Would not recommend.
Unfortunately it didn't work me
Olenka from Bellevue
I'm so upset this product didn't work for me.
It feels weird on my face.. And it's does leave a little white cast on my skin since it has the SPF
Ash from New York
I wanted to love this sunscreen lotion. I used the opposite of the AM CeraVe, the CeraVe PM lotion. It worked great on my skin, absorbed well and is not greasy. I thought it would be the same for AM lotion, but it makes my skin look and feel so greasy. I will be switching back to the CeraVe Ultra-light Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30. I used that one for over 1 year and loved it, mattified my skin and gave me the protection from the sun.
I also found that since using the AM CeraVe i've had breakouts and a lot of blackheads on my T-zone. I am blackhead and whitehead prone, however, when I used the Ultra-light I did not have this issue.
