Most Helpful Positive Review Absolute holy grail
This is the only moisturizer I plan to use for the rest of my life.
I purchased the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA 100 mL in August of 2019, and as of today, August 5th 2020, I have officially finished that first tube. I used it basically twice a day every single day for a year after cleansing and any serums/other treatments. If my face is still soaking wet from The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution or applying way too much serums or other treatments, the Natural Moisturizing Factor has trouble soaking in and takes an extra minute or so to absorb, but that's user error rather than a product malfunction. Sometimes, when I didn't have any of my Cerave Moisturizing Cream (the only body lotion that I'm not allergic to), I would use the Natural Moisturizing Factors instead and it also worked well as a light body moisturizer.
This product did not make any dramatic changes to my skin besides keeping it healthy and hydrated every day, which I consider a plus. It's the most simple, straight-forward product ever. The only problem I can imagine anyone possibly having is wanting more hydration for dry skin, and Natural Moisturizing Factors mixes and/or layers well with argan oil and squalane oil that I've used it with. There are no active ingredients in it so I don't have to worry about it contradicting or reacting negatively with any serums or treatments I use. It absorbs in less than a minute and truly feels like my skin is naturally moisturized, I can't even tell that there was a lotion on my skin. It doesn't make my face look or feel greasy, even though I have extremely oily skin (if I'm not wearing makeup my t-zone will start to look oily around 5-8 hours after applying, but that's totally natural for my skin).
It wears perfectly under makeup and doesn't cause any pilling or textural problems under any types of primers, powder, cream, stick foundation, or liquid foundation I've used. I would buy this again and again, and give it 10 stars if I could.
Most Helpful Critical Review NOT for me
I have combination skin, oily on my nose but occasional dry patches on my forehead and chin. I was so excited to try this and I tried it in conjunction with the ordinary HA serum. NEVER AGAIN. the texture was great and made my skin feel supple but the weird texture and breakouts were unreal. I had nearly perfect skin with minimal scars or hyperpigmentation. soon after using this, I experienced raised bumps down the sides of my nose that never turned into whiteheads but had to be self extracted, and I also got random huge pimples on my forehead, cheeks, and chin. I thought my skin was stressed from using too many new products at once so I stopped using the serum and saw some improvement, but I was still breaking out way more than usual even with just the lotion, and not even daily use - I would switch off w my old lotion so i wasn't overwhelming my skin. I made sure my skin was damp before applying and i used an oil at night to lock in moisture to make sure i wasn't pulling up moisture from deeper layers of skin. I have done everything i could to get good results but fast forward 2 months and I'm done trying to make this work. my skin has never looked this bad. 2 days ago i switched completely to the cerave daily moisturizing lotion and already see a difference. not sure why this didn't work for me but it seems like I'm not the only one. if your skin doesn't react to this then I'd say give it a try, because the texture and finish are great, but overall it was just not for me. hopefully i get my skin back to where it was.

Okay, so this isn't my first moisturizer — but it's the first one I can live with. I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and skin that's pretty normal everywhere else. But I also live in a climate where it's hot and humid most of the year and, no matter what my do, my skin gets oily. It feels like I've tried every fragrance-free, sensitive, oily skin moisturizer in existence and ALL of them were too heavy. Even some hydrogel moisturizers felt like "too much," like they would just sit on my skin. I bought this on a whim after COVID and mask wearing pushed me to completely overhaul my skincare routine. And it's shockingly perfect. I've never had a cream moisturizer that didn't sit on top of my skin but actually absorbed into it. My T-zone is less oily and my skin overall is softer and visibly healthier. I can finally use topical products for my breakouts without worrying about it completely drying out my skin. It doesn't clog my pores at all — I can use it over my whole face, even breakouts because they don't get worse or more inflamed. My skin hasn't felt this balanced basically ever and applying this moisturizer is now my favorite part of my skincare routine!!!

Surprised for how inexpensive this product is just how great this moisturizer makes my face feel! I would definitely recommend this product!
I *WILL* buy this again and again.

A little goes a LONG way. I've heard people say it it is thick and heavy. Well, it could be if you use too much. About a 1/2 inch squirt in the palm of my hand is all it takes. I rub my hands together and then pat it on my face. Pat. Don't rub. Sometimes I give my hands and fore arms a treat with this lovely cream.

This made my skin feel nice, but I experienced a burning/tingling sensation when putting it on. not worth it.
Hydrates, but too heavy
Lynlee from Florida
I really wanted to love this. I'm loving everything else I got from The Ordinary line. But this moisturizer does not absorb fast or very well. And I can feel it sitting on my skin. And it leaves my skin very shiny.
I have oily/combo skin, so this may be just too much for my skin. It does not, however, cause any breakouts. So I will use as a night time moisturizer till it runs out but will probably not repurchase.
oh my god amazing

i have normal to oily skin and this is perfect as a night cream or right before makeup!! you kinda have to work it into your face but it feels really nice and moisturizing and my sister who has more normal to dry skin also loves it!

I love that this product is never tested on animals it's a great quality my skin feels very soft
Alec from New Jersey
Was hoping this would be my new go to moisturizer for the price and my great experiences with other The Ordinary products. Wrong. Very thick, greasy formula that builds up oil and becomes very heavy throughout the day. Gives your face an unwanted shine. Just don't recommended for the oily skin type.
I have dry skin and this works great for me

I am a young teen with dry skin and this worked awesome for me, it made my skin so soft and it felt super smooth though I still have some bumps but over all I think this worked well for my skin.

Bought this after trying several other moisturizers to help with my morning routine. Love ordinary products. Has been two full weeks of daily wear and it is great. Helps my makeup stay put and moisturizes throughout the day. And the cost is perfect.
Doesn't absorb well
Sammproc from Alabama
I bought this and did use the whole bottle, but never felt like it really worked for my skin. It had a very hard time absorbing into my skin which caused issues when layering sunscreen and makeup over it. It would pull very badly within a few hours. Even though it's cheap, it's not worth the price in my opinion if it makes makeup look horrible within a few hours.

After using this for only a week, there's a noticeable improvement in my skin texture, pore size and fine lines
Best moisturizer ever
Bel from United States
This has been the best simple and effective product I have used. The product makes me skin feel great and has helped clear up my skin.
Not for dry skin
Mallory from Portland, OR
I think this product would be awesome if I didn't have such dry skin. Glides only nicely and doesn't have a smell but my skin sucks it up really fast and I'm left feeling pretty tight.
This stuff though...

I have been using The Ordinary for years. I have come up with my own regiment through trial and error. This stuff has helped my skin so so much! Don't let the price fool you!
Finally a moisturizer I can get behind
Megan from Vienna WV
I love this product!! I have rosacea so I am very careful what products I use. This one fit the bill in making my skin soft and moisturized without causing a flare up. You can't beat the price either!
Sydney from Columbus, OH
I have not used this by its self cause it seems that's not really what it is for, I've been using it every morning and night paired with the hyaluronic acid 2% + B5. This is a match made in heaven! My skin feels so plump and hydrated I'm obsessed!
Chris from NJ
This moisturizer isn't horrible but at the same time it did nothing for my skin! Wouldn't repurchase
Solid light moisturizer
Melissa from IN
If it's summer and you only want a light surface moisturizer, this is a good one. It can take a while to absorb, especially if your face isn't bone-dry: a lil sweat and it's a sloppy mess. But it DOES make my skin look fantastic!
Broke me out
Alyssa from Washington
I wanted to love this because I love nearly all of the ordinarys products, but this broke me out in little bumps and deep cysts all over my face. I know it was this because it was the first new thing I have introduced to my regular skincare routine in over 6 months. Consistency felt really nice on my skin though, and it absorbed relatively quickly.
Sue from TX
Got lucky. The store had many, many product choices on this visit. I was in need of a moisturizer. It is a nice weight. Will be good for winter.
Really good for the price.
Gaby from Puerto Rico
It's obviously not the best moisturizer out there, but for the price... I think it's awesome. It's not super light and not super heavy. Its fragrance free (love that!!!) and the ingredients are pretty good from my perspective (Biologist). I have super dry skin esp. around my nostrils and in my forehead and I apply a little more than they probably recommend. My skin feels really smooth and hydrated. There's quite a lot of product, so again, for the price I think it's super good.
Great, basic moisture
Grace from San Francisco
Nothing fancy, but a perfect day lotion. Smells very fresh too.
Great (Super) Affordable Moisturizer
Jackie from Edinburg, TX
For the price I'm really impressed! I have combination skin and have used other drugstore moisturizers in this price range and a little higher and they totally broke me out. I've been using this one for 2 months and it's left my skin breakout-free and hydrated! It's definitely too moisturizing for oily skin peeps but for combo-dry skin this is great! At first it left a white cast, but I quickly learned I was using too much. A pea size amount is all you need and rubbing it between your fingers before applying it to your face helps emulsify it, so it's not as thick and helps with the white cast. If your comparing this to high end moisturizers of course you'll probably be a little disappointed, but for an extremely affordable one it's awesome! And it's fragrance free and free of a lot of irritating/harsh ingredients, so it's great for sensitive skin too.
