    great face wash!

    By Heidi Belle

    from NJ

Comments about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin:

this was the perfect face wash for my combination acne prone skin! my face feels so fresh and clean after using it, and no tightness or dry patches! within the first use it got rid of my cystic pimple overnight which made me very happy. if you have combo skin be sure to use a nice non comedogenic moisturizer that will hydrate your skin in case of dryness. Vichy makes amazing water based ones for combo skin..and don't skip spf!

Comments about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin:

I developed acne when I was about 18 and for the most part it kind of cleared up by the time I turned 25. I'm almost 26 now and I still deal with the after math like scarring & the occasional breakout. On top of that, my blackheads have gotten out of control in the last year. They are all over my nose, chin, and cheeks. So I thought I would try something new and I'm so glad I found this face wash! I started using this about 5 days ago and my face is taking a turn for the better! I've gotten so many compliments on how my face looks clearer. My husband even thought I was wearing makeup at one point because my faced had cleared up so much. This doesn't dry my face out at all and overall makes my face feel so refreshed. I cannot reccomend this product enough!

Comments about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin:

Ny skin was terrible when I bought this. My skin wad showing results within a few days, but after about a week I noticed that my skin was insanely dried out, it flaking slightly. It worked well at first, I wouldn't use it everyday, but if my acne got out of control, then I would use again for just a couple days.

Comments about La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin:

This is a really solid cleanser. I have serious hormonal acne that concentrates around my chin area, and adding this cleanser to my routine has seemed to help with the overall look and feel of my skin. I'm a big proponent of strong moisturizer even with oily/combo skin, so I've never struggled with dryness as a result of this cleanser, but definitely consider that as a possible downside to this otherwise beneficial product.

I note that it's messy because it's a really runny cleanser. I use it with a Vanity Planet spin brush, but the moment you open the cap the cleanser will start running out so you have to tip the tube quickly so as to not spill too much. Not a downside, just something to take note of before use.

My only hesitation with this product is the brand's unwillingness to disclose the pH. The pH of a cleanser is really important as maintaining your skin's acid mantle can really improve the condition of your skin. Though I don't feel as though my acid mantle has been damaged after about a week of daily use, I'm wary of long-term damage to the skin barrier, as the only reason I can think a brand would refuse to disclose the pH of a cleanser is because it's not optimal. And I have asked.

Overall, it's worked well for my skin, but be sure to look into the skin's acid mantle and do some research of your own before you give it a try, and realize the potential dangers of this cleanser with long-term use.

Hello, I was wondering if this product would help fade acne scars and if it would stop my face from becoming shiny throughout the day or not?

              A:

Hi Jo! Please note that although our Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser does not make the claim to fade acne scars, it has been clinically tested to reduce excess surface oil by up to 47%, leaving skin less oily throughout the day. If you are looking for a product that will help assist in reducing acne scars we would recommend using our Pigmentclar Cleanser Deep Cleansing Brightening Foaming Cream which will help shed dark cells from skin's surface.
