Comments about L'Oréal Root Cover Up:

It did nothing to my roots, my natural hair is brown but I have been coloring it blond for a while. I decided to try the spray but did not cover anything. It kinda stayed like powder, almost like dry shampoo before you spred it.

This is a great product when you need to buy time in-between visits to the salon! I don't use it every day, but It works best on clean hair and will last until your next wash. I don't recommend using it if you plan to sweat, the color will run if its near your forehead/hairline. Small & compact for travel too! Color matches perfectly!

Hi N! Thank you for contacting us about your experience with Root Cover Up.

Based on many years of experience and all available technical resources, we have no reason to believe that haircolor can cause hair loss. Hair loss can be caused by many things: illness, medication, lack of sufficient vitamins, diet and stress. We also have an increasing loss of hair as we age. Male pattern hair loss and androgenic alopecia is considered to be hereditary. It is estimated the average head has between 90,000 and 140,000 hairs. Normally we lose 40-100 hairs a day. We are enclosing additional information published by the American Academy of Dermatology.

If you have a sudden and unusual amount of hair loss, we suggest you consult your physician because only a medical professional is qualified to diagnose and advise you. As a gesture of goodwill, we would be willing to pay for an initial doctor's visit. Please send us your medical bill indicating the diagnosis. Enclosed is a prepaid envelope for your convenience.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance.

              • Q:

Does this actually cause any type of damage or staining to the hair? I have dyed black hair and about a level 7 root, very light. I am trying to grow them out but don't want to have the unsightly light roots while in the process of doing so, but I would like to go back to my natural color. Will this stain my roots or harm the hair in any way?

We used the Magic Root Touch Up to darken my son's hair for Halloween because it said that it washed out in one shampoo. He showered this evening and shampooed twice with almost no change. Is there something you recommend to get the color out of his hair? He's blonde and we used the medium brown.

                Thank you for your help.

Someone previously asked if this product contained PPD. You evaded the question and did not answer it. A simple yes or no is all that's needed. It is a consumers right to know, and then we can make our own decision.

If not is there anything you suggest that can get me by the last week or so before touch up?

                  A:

Hello Martinigirl! Unfortunately, Root Cover Up in a blonde shade will not cover up dark brown roots. It is made to cover gray or white hair. We have a permanent haircolor product called Root Rescue for root touch-ups, but it is not going to be able to lift a dark brown to a blonde shade. You would need bleach to do that. Thank you for your question!
