Most Helpful Positive Review Shrinks pores and smooths skin I started using this cleanser 3 weeks ago and I can tell a difference with my enlarged pores and combination skin. I break out sometimes with those nasty big zits underneath your skin, but since using Cerave SA Cleanser, I have not had any of those! I love how my skin feels and looks after washing with this. I sometimes us a Clarasonic brush, and other times, just a Buff Puff pad. The pores in my T zone area actually look smaller. I believe this is the salacylic acid working to deep clean the pores, which in turn, makes them appear smaller since they are not clogged up. I also use the Cerave SA lotion underneath my makeup now as my moisturizer and so far so good. In addition to using the SA lotion on my face,I slather it on my legs after shaving and it has been helping with ingrown hairs on legs too. For the price, an 8 oz bottle lasts a long time so it's a great value. Even better is how much I like it. I'm hooked on Cerave now for life. Excellent products that work for much less than those commercial brands, so what more could you ask for?
Most Helpful Critical Review Can be drying and irritating. Better for oily skin I bought this because it was highly recommended by Paula Begoun as a good cleanser for combination skin. I do like that it has no fragrance, it foams a little bit, it gets my skin clean, it rinses completely, and my skin feels good right afterwards. However, I've been using it for about a week now and my cheeks have a constant burning/tingling feeling. I think it is just too drying for that area of my face. I'm pretty disappointed, but will continue to use it on my chin where I am prone to break outs. If you have oily skin, this would be a great product, but not so much for more "normal" type of skin (which is how I would classify my cheeks).

Doesn't deal well with acne sensitive skin 1
Ingredient junkie from Idaho
I was using this hoping it would help with my acne I've struggled with it most of my life wondered why my breakouts were getting worse there's an ingredient derived from coconut oil which if you have acne prone skin will break you out I am wondering why most acne washes have this derivative when it is specifically catered to people with acne even their benzyl peroxide wash has the same ingredient the only one that doesn't is the hydrating cleanser from this line packaging can say one thing ingredients say so much more
Burned my skin 1
KPham107 from Huntington Beach
My skin was fine before using this, maybe some few pimples on the T-zone. I honestly bought this because of how it's been hyped on YouTube and basically everywhere. But it caused my skin to dry out and caused redness and burning on my cheeks. I have combination skin and sometimes oily but it just just too harsh. Don't buy if you have sensitive to combination skin. I wouldn't even recommend it for oily skin.
not for oily skin 1
ya girl from pittsburgh
this has dried out my skin, and caused giant cystic acne which i have never experienced. Skinbyhyram usually suggests great products, but i will never use this again
It works! 5
BellaEpoque from Chicago
One of the few salicylic acid based face washes I can use that doesn't dry me out or cause irritation. I use it nightly and it helps keep break outs to a minimum.
Meh 3
Jaz from Albany, NY
I have pretty much normal to dry skin and wanted something extra to exfoliate and take better care of my skin. It caused irritation at first, but that's expected when trying new products. So, I have tried it for about a month and it cause me to have small breakouts over my face. (I usually don't get acne or breakouts) I have since switched to the cerave hydrating cleanser and it has made a huge difference with my skin, if you have sensitive skin like mine.
Not good for sensitive skin 3
Kait from Waynesboro, MS
I was so excited to use this product but within one use my face, neck, and chest was broken out. If you have sensitive skin you might want to try on small areas before you use it over a large area
has corn oil 3
oily skin from d
this product has corn oil. this ingredient causes acne, so the purpose of having salicylic acid is counter productive since the product it's supposed to help acne, but there's an ingredient that CAUSES acne. also it has niacinamide for no reason since it's being washed off the face. i recommend the inkey list salicylic acid cleanser. at least that one disclosed that it has 2% salicylic acid in it, unlike cerave because we don't know how much salicylic acid this product has.
Holy grail 5

I've been using this for about 4 months and it's cleared my skin so well, unfortunately i stopped using it for like a month and my skin hasn't been looking the best, i will update this review once i see results.
Cerave cleansers just don't work for me 2
Mrsgalyon from Tn
I have normal-dry skin & wanted an exfoliating cleanser to add to my routine. I get breakouts once a month on my jawline. But the rest of my skin leans dry. I felt this a very gentle cleanser. My skin was very soft afterwards. Wish it didn't cause me to have pimples all over my face within a few hours :(
I've tried all other cerave cleansers besides the benzoyl peroxide & they all break me out in clogged pores or pustules. And I always love the way the feel initially. I'm sticking w my vanicream & la roche posay..
Great for "chicken skin" 5
Lilly from Texas
I have KP aka "chicken skin" on my arms and have been really self conscious about it. I saw a TikTok that said this would help and figured I would give it a shot. It's too harsh on my face but has worked wonders on the back or my arms. I'm so ready for summer now!
Great SA Cleanser 5
Kaylee from St. Louis, MO
I use this product every other day before bed. My acne noticeably cleared up within the first few uses. Love it!

I've been struggling with cystic acne and blackheads since going off birth control for a little bit about a year and a half ago. This cleanser didn't really do anything for my skin and I'm almost through the bottle. My skin used to be kinda dry before but now it is more normal/combo and I feel like this just doesn't clean my face enough nor has it helped with acne or blackheads. I'm trying the la roche-posay effaclar one next so hopefully that one works better!
not for me 3

Dry, Dull Skin Transformed to Glowy Skin 5
T. Skincare from Buena Vista, VA
I use this facial cleanser every night before putting on my heavy duty moisturizer. This hasn't been drying for me, probably because I follow it up with a thick moisturizer. Therefore, I would not recommend using it in the morning if you have dry, patchy skin unless you use a really good moisturizer before doing your makeup. This facial cleanser not only makes my skin glowy, but also I have not had to manually exfoliate my skin ever since using this product. It does it all for me since it is a chemical exfoliator. I seriously love this product, it keeps my skin clean with all the hormonal acne that comes around during my time of the month. I recommend this product for anyone wanting a smoother texture of skin. With this product I also feel like my skin accepts other products since it makes me skin so clean and ready for intake of other products.
For Kp Skin 4
nyla from dallas tx
I've been seeing changes to my kp skin (in a good way). The kp in my thighs has been calming off, it acts well on my body but not so much on my face.
Acne prone skin 2
Acneproneskin from California
I have acne prone skin and I was excited to try this since everyone says that it's really good but it didnt work out. It broke me out really bad with cystic acne and i have never experienced cystic acne until now and I would get texture like tiny pimples but I don't know if I was using the product wrong, I would use it every morning and a different cleanser at night. I know it was this cleanser bc my face would be super red and irritated after i used it and once I stopped my face got better. Yes I do know about skin purging but my face had a bunch of little dots of texture and cystic acne after a few days of using this which I don't think that is part of skin purging bc my pimples werent the normal pimples you get when purging.
So far so good! 5
Lindsay from VA
I got this product because Hyram recommended it for people struggling with acne. I was finally able to get it once it restocked. It seems to be working well and does not have a fragrance. I use this on my body (back and chest) and face. The only thing I have noticed is that it does cause some dryness on my back and chest, but nothing lotion can't fix. I will say that you may breakout on your face for the first couple weeks of use, but I figured this is the cleanser bringing dirt and bacteria to the surface. (I'm not an expert, just speculating). Highly recommend this cleanser!
I've gone through 5 of these 5
Shelly from U.S
This is my ride or die cleanser, I literally don't even look for another 2nd cleanse anymore thanks to this product. It is kind of pricy for a basic cleanser but i have acne prone, combination leaning dry, and sensitive skin. But this has never had a bad reaction on me, please give this stuff a try!
ITS SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE 5
Jenn from Michigan
Where do I find this, it's sold out everywhere I used to buy it from ulta now it's nowhere
Great cleanser with just a couple super minor issues! 4
JanuaryEmbers from Ohio, United States
So this cleanser is really good I feel like it does help with breakouts and while it does have salicylic acid in it, which is great for acne prone skin, it doesn't dry your skin out too much which is amazing. It also makes my skin feel pretty smooth just on its own which is awesome usually cleansers would leave me feeling dried out or too tight or just wouldn't fight off break outs. The only thing that does suck about it is that it's super foaming to the point that the foam is like clinging to your face so when you wash your face at a sink I feel like it takes a second to get it all off. Another thing that sucks is unfortunately yeah because salicylic acid is in the wash it does make your skin a bit sensitive to using certain products directly after. Other than that I would definitely recommend this wash especially to anybody fighting off acne.
DANGEROUS INGREDIENT! 1
Skinlover103 from NY
I bought this because of the hype and in hopes of clearing my skin and I regret ever purchasing this. DO NOT BUY! Check online for their warnings about this product and you'll run! It can be toxic to children and can cause Reye's syndrome and can cause itchy skin, difficulty breathing, etc which is NOT something that a clean brand should have!! I ended up with more acne, dry and unbearably itchy skin and now I'm on steroids due to a rash from this product. To those who are wondering, I've used salicylic acid in products many many times and I've NEVER had this reaction. It is this product! The FDA is currently investigating this product, something I wish I knew! I posted about it online and MANY others had the same experience as myself. BUYER BEWARE!!
I LOVE THIS 5
