I am getting older (mid 50's) and have always had dry skin. This past year, it has become super dry, sensitive and the dry indoor heat during a Great Lakes winter has been brutal on my skin. The sensitivity was making it hard for me to find skincare products that worked and didn't make me feel like I needed to use a flame extinguisher(LOL the site won't let me use the word for flame!) on my face! I was in Ulta and saw this. The label says it uses ingredients that are time released. The deciding factor was the spf 30 sunscreen in it. When the snow melts, we will be out on our bikes again and I need sunscreen! Spf 30 is the minimum amount you should use and most creams are spf 20. Plus they feel funky on dry, sensitive skin.
How does it work? Well, it is different. Not greasy and not conventionally "emollient" but it does make my skin look and feel better. It is softer and more pliable. I am starting to get wrinkly/crepey eyelids and I carefully put this on and let it absorb before applying primer/eyeshadow (besides all over my face). It has really helped! I quit wearing foundation and use tinted moisturizer or a BB cream and a cream blush. Conventional creams are too slick for the makeup to stay on, but the CeraVe reduces the wrinkles, give me sunscreen and doesn't cause the makeup to slide right off. At night a put it on and put a more emollient nightcream (budget friendly) over it for extra oomph. In the last couple of weeks, I have had 2 people come up and say that I looked younger and thinner! I will take that all day long! I have bought every kind of moisturizer-expensive, products from "parties", department stores and even used to use creamy petroleum jelly on my face and nothing has ever worked. I have even noticed that I look better and I am usually very critical. I know this review is long, but if you have gone through what seems like every cream out there and end up giving it away like I have, you want honest, detailed opinions. I hope this helps!
I know that this nighttime moisturizer works, because it worked for me for two weeks. However, after that initial two weeks, I broke out in tiny pin sized pimples all over my face, it appears to be an irritant caused dermatitis, (the first of my life!) which is quite painful, not to mention unsightly.
Most people seem to have great results using this, but I want to let some people know that this can happen, so I suggest doing a patch test continuously for at least a week before using over your entire face.

It's not fantastic and isn't doing wonders for my skin but it isn't messing it up either

I really like this moisturizer and think it's a great basic one to have. As someone with very dry skin, this isn't quite enough for me so I just use it as a daytime moisturizer under spf and that seems to work well. Would definitely recommend to most people!

I use this product every night, and though I've seen no big differences in my skin, I still enjoy it. A lot of nighttime moisturizers are overly hydrating which gives me more ance, this product has good level of moisture. I will probably continue to have this product as a back-up while I test other products that may have a more positive effect.

I use this in combination with the AM moisturizer and while they do work well together (am in the morning and pm at night) I was unsatisfied with the size and as a stand alone product it just doesn't do enough for my skin. The daily lotion used with a facial sunscreen seems it may be a better option

I use this product while my skin is still moist from the previous product. I use a prescription retinol for acne (it starts with a "T," the word was flagged) at night for acne and ketoconazole shampoo. Those two things have great potential to dry your skin if you don't moisturize. This is great. I love CeraVe products as well as Cetaphil.

I apply this after my Ordinary serums and it works amazing! Super soft and doesn't break me out and it's perfect for sensitive skin

Obsessed with the PM cream because it has niacinamide & helps with acne scars. 10/10

I had high hopes, but this product made my skin feel burned. I have sensitive skin, so this product is going back. Might be fine for people without sensitivities.

I have both the moisturizers in this series (AM/PM) and the PM changed my life. It feels extremely nice on the skin and leaves my skin feeling super hydrated.

This product is great for the face. Usually when I get tired I feel tiredness In my eyes, but after using this product it felt so refreshing and you can feel it actually doing things to your skin. Great product.

About a year ago, I was using products that severely stripped my skin and then I didn't moisturize after (I knew nothing about skincare). Because of this, I ruined my moisture barrier, which caused me to break out HORRIBLY with cystic acne all over my cheeks and chin that would show up in painful clumps. After trying every product imaginable, I put two and two together and realized I needed to just focus on finding a good moisturizer, and I would go from there. I tried cetaphil, aveeno, and some natural brands that my mom suggested, but everything broke me out and made me oily, until I tried this product. I'm not even kidding when I say that this CeraVe moisturizer saved my skin. Immediately after using it, my skin felt the most hydrated it had ever been, and not in a greasy or sticky way. After just a few days, my skin was glowing. 3 months later, and I've switched my cleanser to the CeraVe hydrating cleanser (beware: oil-free and oil-reducing cleansers strip your skin. go for a gentle, hydrating cleanser and your skin will naturally stop producing as much oil). I've also started using the Ordinary AHA and BHA mask, and my skin hasn't looked this good in over a year. Redness and acne marks are fading, texture is smoothing out, and the only acne I get anymore are the occasional small whiteheads on my chin. My previously wrecked cheeks are clear of pimples, and I couldn't be happier. I'm not embarrassed when people look at my skin anymore.

l bought the CeraVe foaming facial cleanser about two months ago and it worked wonders for my skin so i bought this moisturizer since the one i was using ran out (Dr. Brandt recovery sleeping mask). I have great skin and have never suffered from acne or breakouts so i was very surprised when i saw breakouts in my chin and forehead. About four days into using the moisturizer my skin got really bad. Stopped using it a few days ago and my skin is already better. I went online and read a lot of reviews about this product and apparently its not that uncommon to breakout from it. I think CeraVe products are great, just not this one.

Along with some other products, using this at night really helped with my over producing oil on my skin. I recommend!!!!!

this was my first experience with a moisturizer and it leaves my skin feeling greasy. i would rather spend more money on a product that comes in GLASS PACKAGING bc it is so much better for our environment. overall not terrible but there might be better options.

I decided to give this moisturizer a try because it's been raved about by so many. Even though it says oil free, it made my face feel slick. Didn't provide my skin enough hydration and I became an oily mess in mere minutes.

this paired with any salicylic acid cleanser somehow cleared my skin! definitely for combo/oily skin

I love Cerave, so I had to purchase when I saw so many skincare youtubers raving about it. Niacinamide is so far up on the ingredient list, you get a lot for your money, and the pump bottle is super convenient. Unfortunately, it's just not moisturizing enough for my normal (tends to be drier in the winter) skin. My skin just drinks this stuff up and I needed to reapply often or do several layers to get the moisture I needed. It's a very lightweight moisturizer and the texture is great. If you have oily skin, this might be your holy grail!

I alternate this product at night.

My boyfriend used to use body lotion on his face, he surprisingly never had any bad breakouts from it but still it killed me to watch so I bought him this. And now he LOVES it, he says he noticed his skin has gotten better, he's GLOWING! Definitely won't be going back to his body lotion.

I have oily skin that is prone to breaking out but I also have sensitive, itchy dry areas on my face too.
CeraVe really helps calm down those areas of my face where most other moisturizers would make them sting. it's not thick and sticky so if your wanting something more heavily moisturizing this isn't for you.
I would recommend if you want a light, fast absorbing and non irritant face moisturizer.
Anna from Houston
I have oily skin and this is the perfect night moisturizer! Definitely helps with pore size as well!

Good night lotion not as moisturizing as a cream though. Good for oily skin.

Looking for a moisturizer, especially when you have oily skin, is the hardest thing ever, but Cera Ve ended my search and I'm amazed at how much my skin has healed and has stayed hydrated. Honestly, at my first use (mind you I have sensitive skin and cystic acne) I broke out, but as I incorporated into my skincare routine, I could see scars fading and improvement in my skin. I highly recommend for my ladies with hormonal acne/oily, sensitive skin!
