How do I avoid the product pilling on my skin? It acts like an exfoliant right away, but come to find out, that's the product producing little balls all over my face, not dead skin. Do I use the product on dry skin vs wet skin or vice versa?
- Asked by Bamalynn
- Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand EngageIt sounds like you may be applying too much product! Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% offers a 23% powder content so a very small amount should be used. We suggest applying VC 23% as the final step of your PM routine to begin, and we always recommend allowing all product to absorb before applying next steps. We hope this helps! Was this answer helpful to you

- Q
Why is the product gritty? Will the grittiness dissolve? I feel like washing it off after putting it on skin.
- Asked by Mary Ann
- Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand EngageHi there! Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% uses a finely-milled, powder-form of Vitamin C. These particles remain suspended which gives a slightly sandy or gritty feel on the skin. It's also made without water (to keep the Vitamin C stable) so the powder can't fully dissolve the way it might in a water-based serum like Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%. This grittiness is normal for the product and should feel this way for a few minutes after application. We hope this helps! Was this answer helpful to you

Changed my skin!
I started using 2 weeks ago. I am 50 yrs old. I have combo skin with acne, dry patches, age spots, acne scars, crepey under my eyes, wrinkles on my forehead and crows feet. UGH! I saw this in a beauty blog and at this point would try anything! But $6?!?! It must be witchcraft! And it is! My face ha...

Awful texture
I am not sure of the effect of this product as it doesn't seem to absorb due to its poor formulation. Let me start with the beginning: Very runny, drips everywhere if you aren't careful. I can get passed that. Grainy when comes in contact with skin, feels like sandpaper. I understand this is due ...

Great product
The texture of this moisturizer is very off and it has that gritty texture so when you use it im not sure if its dead skin or the product is pilling either way from the other reviews im pretty sure that is the vitamin C in action. Aside from that this is an amazing product, ive been using it for about a week and so far it has really helped my skin, it looks brighter and gives my face a nice dewy finish that lasts all day without the oily feel that often comes with. I had been struggling with that as I have dry skin and I was having a hard time finding a balance between too much moisture and too little. The only thing I dont love about this product is the texture which is worth it to me considering the results. If you have sensitive skin I'd recommend not using it everyday as it has exfoliating components. I feel some tingling when using this product sometimes so if your skin is sensitive Id say used it 2-3 times a week.
Burns
Awful texture, burning sensation…left it on for 5 minutes and had to wash it off. Threw it away immediately. Cerave vitamin C is much better.
Thumbs down to HA
I miss the 23% Vitamin C WITHOUT HA. It was so amazing. HA is so overrated, please stop putting it in everything.
Horrible texture
If you want to feel like your putting sand on your face have at it! Couldn't stand the texture.
Love it
I have a huge dark spot on my forehead from a terrible cellulitis infection i had 6 months ago. Started using this to brighten the spot and its working just after a week. Im so happy. Yes its gritty, yes it can be oily and thats why i only use it in my nighttime routine. I will continue this.
