The Ordinary recommends performing a patch test prior to incorporating a new product into your skin care routine.
Apply a small amount to face in the AM or the PM. A slight tingling sensation can be expected after application.
Contraindications: Do not use in the same routine as Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, peptides, EUK 134 0.1%, direct acids, or retinoids.

Why is the product gritty? Will the grittiness dissolve? I feel like washing it off after putting it on skin.

- Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand EngageHi there! Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% uses a finely-milled, powder-form of Vitamin C. These particles remain suspended which gives a slightly sandy or gritty feel on the skin. It's also made without water (to keep the Vitamin C stable) so the powder can't fully dissolve the way it might in a water-based serum like Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%. Awful texture

It works but SMELLS
This product does wonders for my face. BUT as soon as I started using it I noticed that my hands would smell like metal for DAYS afterwards. Doesn't matter how much I wash them, the smell won't go away. So only use this if you aren't sensitive to strong smells.

Burnt my face bad, tried about 4 times and had to get rid of it because it was unbearable.
Great Product!
I've used this serum for six months now and it's brightened my dark spots significantly. You will feel a stinging tingle when you put the serum on. That's because of the high concentration of Vitamin C. You will become adjusted to it if you keep using it. You'll begin to see results after a few weeks of use. I only wish the Ordinary made a serum with an even higher concentration of Vitamin C. This is one of my favorite products from the Ordinary.
I can get past the grittiness but not the smell
Nothing could prepare me for the smell. That has no bearing on effectiveness but it's a dealbreaker for me. Wish I could tolerate the smell enough to use it and see results but I just cannot 🤮
helps with color but stings
i have psoriasis on my forehead and behind my ears and for the last year ive been using vitamin c serum on it and it improved the look and feel of it a lot, so i thought that i would try this one bc its a lotion which i thought would be nice. i usually wash my psoriasis with face wash in the shower and then apply vitamin c, then derma-e face cream over it, so i tried the same and it stung soooo bad! It hurt so much.. althoughhhh it made my psoriasis look so good and blend right into my skin. so i have kind of like a love hate relationship with this product.
