About that "hot dog water" smell...
That hot dog water smell comes from ferulic acid. If you've ever used Skinceuticals C, E and Ferulic acid serum, you will immediately recognize the smell. Ferulic acid is a powerhouse ingredient. It is an extremely effective antioxidant. It also boosts other antioxidants and actives in the formula. It reduces signs of aging and brightens the skin while reducing inflammation. There are so many actives in this formula I'm willing to put up with the "hot dog water" smell. It doesn't linger. All my serums with ferulic acid smell the same way - and they cost way more!
Love it
I have been applying this everyday onto clean skin and I really do think it has made my skin brighter overall and is starting to fade my dark marks. To the point where I've felt more confident using a lighter BB cream rather than the full coverage foundation I'm used to. That's a big deal to me tbh. I'm definitely going to repurchase once I finish this tube. Also, I have very oily skin and I appreciate that it dries down pretty matte. As for the other stinky reviews, I really can't smell this moisturizer at all tbh. But I also have always felt that I have a very weak sense of smell so I really hope I'm not walking around smelling like hotdog 😭
Hot dog water
…yeah the other comments are right about this product having a meaty smell to it. Weird!
A big disappointment
Disclaimer: I cannot speak to the brightening properties of this product, since I used it only once so far - that experience was enough for me (TLDR; just get the serum, or better yet, find a different product altogether). Pros: It's definitely gentle enough for everyday use. It also dries down to a nice matte-but-not-too-matte finish. Smells do not linger (this is important for the next part). Cons: The other reviews are right, it smells like a faint meat smell, like jerky that lingers on your fingers for too long even after washing. You also FEEL the weight of this moisturizer. It never truly sinks in - if you love milky, lightweight moisturizers or ones that feel like they sink right in, skip this one.
idk
i've only used this like three times, and i really like the serum that goes with it … but this moisturizer has a weird like barbecue smell??? idk girl it's not like constant or super prominent but still definitely noticeable. haven't experienced any other issues so far, but the moisturizer isn't that hydrating coming from a dry skin girly. not a terrible product but it's got a weird smell to it :/
