Is it used to protect hair from heat damage?
- Asked by Sydnee
- Official Answer By CHI - Brand EngageNo, this product is not for heat protection, it's for have smoother results on your silk presses and eliminate frizz. I recommend using a heat protectant like our CHI Iron Guard or CHI VIBES Know It All.

I recently bought the Chi keratin mist, straight guard cream, and iron guard heat protectant. I have fairly straight hair with frizz, so I like straightening it. Can I use the straight guard as a leave in conditioner on wet hair, let my hair air-dry, spray the iron guard heat protectant, and then straighten?

I literally just finished blowdrying my hair w/ Straight Guard for the first time and was already composing my review halfway through. not my favourite
I was looking for an every-day styling product to keep my hair straight, protect from the heat and humidity. This particular product had all great reviews, so I could not wait to try it. It looks like it's a good value for the price, and easy to use. However, it left my hair dry, and the smell was c...

Unremarkable
I don't have particularly strong feelings about this product, it was merely ok. Hair was left reasonably soft and manageable but I've had better. The smell isn't bad persay but I wouldn't call it good.
Great Product

I love this product. I never used it before until my hair dresser used it and told me to try it out! Since then, I have always used it. I have super thick curly hair and it helps keep the frizz down and tames the curls.
Just ok
This really did nothing for my hair. After using it for a week or two, my hair felt weighed down, it was dry, and it looked very dull. Not the right product for me at all.
it works for me, no flat iron is need it

I really don't have time to spend with a flat iron, plus it damage my colored hair so much. I felt so happy when I tried this product many years ago, since that I been loyal to it, I had tried other brands but nothing had work so good as this one. I wash my hair every other day and when its still damp I use 2-3 pumps, comb it and use a hair clip to keep my hair straight, leave it clip for long time but I do unclip it periodically and comb it while it dries. You will be amaze how straight your hair will be, without no iron, I have lots of hair so I use two hair clips to pull it back. It's the best!!!

Describe Yourself Brand Buyer
I literally just finished blowdrying my hair w/ Straight Guard for the first time and was already composing my review halfway through. I don't think I've ever raved about a product before, but this is AMAZING. My hair is softer, smoother, and shinier than it's been in more than a year (after some coloring mishaps). I usually use a mishmash of styling products before blowdrying--FrizzEase serum, a leave-in conditioner/moisturizer spray, a split-end healer, a straightening cream/heat protector. But this time I decided to just use the Straight Guard to see if it worked standalone, and my god, it was fantastic. I'll start at the beginning: the bottle uses a pump, which I always prefer because you can dispense a more precise amount of product. Just a little bit goes a long way; my hair is shoulder length right now, but thick, and the product itself is incredibly lightweight (something between a cream and a lotion) so it spreads easily. You can actually see a pearlescent quality in the cream, which translates to shine on my hair like I've never seen. I'm not sure if it cut drying time at all, but I actually noticed an improved straightness to my hair. SO MANY "straightening" creams/serums promise that result, but I always have to go over my hair with a flat iron after I'm done blow drying. Supposedly that's good for locking the cuticle, but putting that much more heat on your hair just never seems like a healthy move. Straight Guard eliminated that step. And did I mention my hair is shiny, soft, and smooth as all get out? So for the time saving, the fact that it takes the place of all those other products, and the sheer quality, this one is more than worth the price. For reference, my hair is naturally kinky but relaxed. This product seemed to work well on both the relaxed part and the little bit of new growth.
