I have naturally thick, wavy hair and have always preferred to air dry over using a blow dryer. Every time I'd use a blow dryer, my hair would get so frizzy and fuzzy, no matter what heat protector I used. I've tried multiple times using different brushes and I'd always end up with the same results. I also should mention that I have weak muscles and problems with my nerves so standing for 30-45 minutes to fail at a blow out is nothing but a waste of time. I've been hearing about the hot air brushes from Revlon and John Frieda for over a year and have been wanting one so bad! So this year, I decided to buy myself one for my birthday!
Sadly, my local Ulta was sold out of the Revlon One-Step Volumizer and obviously didn't carry the John Frieda Volume Shine. I didn't want to wait to order either so I started looking at the Bed Head Blow Out Freak. It's the same price as the one by Revlon and seemed pretty similar. However, I felt unsure so I asked for help. I'm so glad I did, I was lead to the hot air brushes and was enthusiastically recommended either the Revlon or this one. As I said, they were sold out of the former, so I decided to get the latter. It was about $15 more, which kind of set me off from it. But with the "real talk" the sales woman had with me, she had me sold.
I LOVE this tool. I can easily and confidently create a smooth blow out with so pain or strain!
I purchased this cautiously optimistic from the hundreds of reviews I read and online YouTube videos I watched. I was hoping that this could be that magic tool to finally calm my wavy, frizzy hair. This arrived today and here's my experience. First my hair type is blonde, shoulder-length, frizzy and wavy and is colored every 8-12 weeks. I used DreamCoat spray and Caviar blowout creme to help with the frizz and was hopeful this combination in addition to this styling dryer would give me the straight, frizz-free results so many others had.
I sectioned my hair and after a couple of minutes I noticed how unbelievably hot this dryer gets. This dryer is more of an oval shape than the circular shape I expected. I had this set on the highest setting to get the straight results I wanted. This dryer has hot air blowing fiercely all over the barrel. My bathroom is small and doesn't have windows and I had to have the door open and a fan on in addition to the air conditioning it became that hot. The hot air blew against my face when drying the sides of my hair and it was uncomfortable. I stopped partway through just to be able to cool down. Also, this dryer is huge, almost too big. My hair is shoulder length and this dryer felt too large for my hair. It was difficult to get to the roots of my hair because this dryer was that large. It is also very uncomfortable to hold for long period of time. I noticed when I set it down after a few minutes to answer a text, my hand was numb from holding it and it was difficult to move my fingers to text my daughter back. That feeling eventually went away. As a result, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has hand or wrist issues. It was also difficult for me to dry the back of my hair because this dryer was so large and I had trouble due to its size getting close enough to the roots in the back of my head and after I finished I realized there were parts still not dry. I still had to go over my hair with my straightener.

First of all it's soo loud. It also gets extremely hot on the gold part. It also did not give me "volume" as I would expect it to. It did however, make my hair very shiny and soft like I just came from the salon. I usuaully can not achieve that with my hair dryer alone.

Does not volumize hair.. basically straightens hair w/o the volume

It works, it took me a while to do my hair, I have a lot of hair (3B-3C) hair type and a lot of it. I never used this type of hair dryer before but it really really works well. It gets hot quick so be careful of burning yourself but it's great quality.

Just like a salon blow out!

I have naturally curly hair (3c) & it's medium length. It usually takes me about two hours to straighten my hair with a regular hair dryer & flat iron but with this product, it only takes about 45 minutes. My hair is left feeling silky & soft. Dries the hair quickly as well. Overall, I love this & purchased a second one for my mom. Highly recommend!

I was so excited to use this to quickly give my hair volume without fully styli it, or to breathe some new life into unwashed hair. This had the opposite of a volumizing effect for me. Left my hair flat and lifeless. I have thick but fine hair so I need to blow dry it to give it body. This made it too fine and too flat. Returning! It's also suuuper heavy! Got an arm workout using it!

I love that I'm able to blow my hair out as well as give it a little curl. No more flat iron stuck to the head look.

Bought this & it worked wonders for a couple months, then it stopped turning on.
Tried using several different power outlets in my house but that wasn't the problem.
The problem was it stopped working out of now where. Never dropped or anything….wish I could get my money back.

Got it for Christmas from my daughter because I've always wanted one and I'm in love. Makes my hair silky and smooth in minutes

First of all, I never write reviews. I literally stopped styling my hair halfway through to write this review. That's how passionate I am about what I'm going to say. I couldn't wait. Lol.
This product works. It delivers what it says it will do and my long hair looks awesome in half the time.
However, and this is a BIG issue … the handle is huge and uncomfortable to hold. I work out, lift weights, do hot yoga and and am in no way "weak." So for me to say that the handle is heavy and a burden is a big deal. Also keep in mind you have to hold the handle and manipulate it and roll it through your hair one section at a time — that's a lot of work. Your hand/wrist/forearm isn't passive as it would be just holding the handle of a hair dryer for instance.
So yes this products styles your hair in half the time BUT I often have to take breaks and rest my arm before I can finish my hair.
Hope this helps someone and if you are in any way weak in the arms/shoulder area you need to seriously consider if this product is right for you.

This literally doesn't even turn on. I've gotten it to work maybe twice after 10 minutes of messing with the cord as much as I could. Ever since, it stopped working completely. Spend this money on any other similar product just not this one.

Purchased this December 8th and received it December 14th. Tried for the first time tonight and within a few seconds of it being on it started getting a burning smell and the handle started to get hot. Will return.

This review is for the customer service I received from Helen of Troy for my hair dryer that just stopped working. I am please to say in less than a week I received a brand new hair dryer from the manufacturer. This blow dryer has a 7 year warranty and if it just stops working like some of the reviews say you can call the manufacturer and they will replace the dryer for free.

Used it only once and I'm already hooked! I have hip length, thick, 2c (very deeply wavy) hair, used this in conjunction with my normal hair care routine straight out of the shower before styling and it worked wonderfully. I had minimal hair breakage (make sure to comb out each section of hair before styling!) and the whole process took me about 45 minutes which for me and my hair type and texture is great! I would suggest however using a blowout balm or anti frizz product with this tool though, I used DryBars liquid glass sealant and I had experienced 0 frizz (my hair naturally is very frizzy).

I love this - my hair is silky soft and it doesn't take very long to dry. I live in a -30 degrees state, I can finally shower and dry my hair quickly if I need to go out. It's not as loud as people make it out to be - a hair dryer is loud. I also will start to brush my hair with this and dry my hair at the same time. It's amazing. It does get a little hot by the scalp but it's a HOT…..TOOL. Recommended every time from me.

Because I loved this blow dryer so much I took extra good care of it, always removing hair and dust build up. One day I was using it on the high setting and it went to low without me switching to the low setting. The low setting was even lower. Then I noticed the part where you hold it was getting very hot. I turned it off and tried turning it on again and it wouldn't turn back on. It smelled like the motor blew. I haven't used this blow dryer that much since I don't use heat on my hair more than once a week. Its really disappointing that it broke as if Ive owned it for 5+ years.

It was okay while it worked. I wish there were more settings to control the power. One day I went to use it, have had it less than 6 months and used maybe a dozen times, and it no longer works. Wouldn't recommend.

It was great while it worked. One day it just stopped. I didn't even have it a full year. I've never had any issues with my other hot tools products, but this one didn't hold up like I had expected from my other experiences with them. Bummed for the price it didn't last a year.

I have thick, dry, curly hair that is a pain to style. Blow drying has always been my least favorite step of my hair care routine and I usually end up smoothing my hair out with a flat iron because I am awful at doing blowouts at home. I got my hair done in October, and really wanted to have the same silkiness and bounce my stylist gave me but for the life of me could never get my hair that sleek (I suck at doing my own hair, really). I am so glad I decided to buy this thing because I went from looking like a total MESS to like I have a personal stylist. No more pringle chip ends going three different ways! No more wavy roots and smooth center hairs! My hair dried in minutes and it was like a revelation: shiny, smooth, bouncy! Not dry, dull, heavy, and lifeless like before. Fair warning, this baby gets H O T. Hot enough that it did sting my ears occasionally and sometimes if you get too close to your face it is uncomfortable.
My advice if you invest in this - get you a really good heat protectant as well, like the best you can afford, because I have heard about these dryer brushes damaging people's hair if you are not careful and did notice a little bit of smoking and some dryness in places, but not as bad as I am used to. Also, detangle with a paddle brush before drying because I occasionally got it caught on random snags and knots can damage the bristles. Clean it everytime you use it, too. Other than that, if you are struggling to give yourself professional-style blowouts with a regular brush and dryer, buy this, and thank me later. It will save you many tears and much frustration.

At first I hated this product because it made my hair frizzy then I realized my hair needs to be at least 80% dry. Once I used it when my hair was 80% dry it worked AMAZING! It blow dries and straightens at the same time! It saves me so much time from doing each alone so this product that does both is just great! I highly recommend!!
XandraD from USA
I really struggle with a round brush so whenever I blow dry it's always a rough dry. This dries my hair faster snd prettier than I ever could with a regular hair dryer. It's SO.GOOD.

If you're looking at the Revlon one step dryer I recommend spending the extra $$ to get this one! It dries my hair so much faster, makes my hair way smoother, and gives me less breakage.
CynVi1 from Miami
Bought it less than a year ago after the Revlon didn't last me more than 4 months before stoped working and guess what this one didn't last a year either with regular use . Gonna try a different one from another brand

I've had this hot brush since Dec 2020 but after using it daily for about six months, had to stop using it. The end tip became extremely hot to the point of burning my fingers. The bristles also started to melt. Worked really well on wet and dry hair during the first couple of months.

If you're wondering if it works for kinky curly hair look no further. I was frightened how straight it got my hair blow drying it alone. My hair is healthy and I'm not afraid of heat damage but it made my hair super straight and super soft. I went over it with a flat iron on medium- medium high heat and hair was bone straight out of the salon. Good results when used correctly
