I love it so far. My hair is not too curly so I think that the more modestly priced irons like this work fine. This is very nice for the price. It doesn't give my hair any weird burnt smell that some cheaper ones do. I feel like it is made out of what it says it is because my hair doesn't feel too damaged after use. Perfect for touch ups too. I really like how well I can control the temperature all the way down to 100 degrees if I want. Most hair irons don't go that low. Only thing that worries me is the crackling sound it makes when on but I think that's just because it's new. I think it's starting to go away. Oh and the curling iron free gift is amazing! it's ceramic and titanium and pretty big. I can't believe it was free. I feel like even if I don't like the iron anymore after a while it's still worth it for the free curling iron. I believe you can also choose another hair iron instead as a gift.
I've been an everyday flat iron user for 10+ years and it was time to replace my old GHD with something current. I was also about to do a Keratin straightening at home and wanted a good flat iron with high temps. I went into the store and after talking with the sales gal (who couldn't really give me any good reason to buy the more pricey models over this cheaper one from Hot Tools), I decided to buy them both and do a side by side comparison at home between this Hot Tools flat iron and a Croc Titanium iron (at more than double the price). She assured me I could return the one I didn't want as long as it was completely repackaged as if new. I did one side of my head with the Hot Tools, one side with the Croc and there really was NO comparison. I started with the Croc on the right half and was completely wowed with the quickness of the results. One easy swipe and my thick wavy hair was stick straight. Boom! It also has shine and a "swing" to it which my hair NEVER has. My hair doesn't swing or move or demonstrate any of those bouncy hair commercial qualities! Today it did and this was NOT while doing a keratin treatment. This was just after my normal shampoo and blow dry. Not only was I amazed by the Croc results, I loved the weight and ergonomic design of this device. It also clamped down on the hair at just the right tension. Then I did the left side with the Hot Tools on the same temperature setting. Not even close. It took multiple passes on each section and it wasn't nearly as straight, shiny or silky. The Hot Tools model felt like good quality, it heated up fast and glided through my hair just fine. But the results side by side were obvious. This flat iron went back to the store the next day. This is the first time I've done a side by side comparison. So glad I did because I may have been satisfied with the Hot Tools iron just on it's own given the super reasonable price point.

My hair is frizzy and wavy, this flat iron left my hair smooth.

I bought this flat iron and honestly i did not like it. I have thin hair not curly just a little bit wavy. I have to give it like 5 to 6 passes and it won't get straight. I was really hoping to like it.

I think this could be a good product but it continually shuts off. It stays on until you pick it up then makes a strange sound, like sparks, then turns off.

It works great

I dread using this straightener. It put me in a terrible mood for morning. The plates are too slippery and don't grip the hair. They also don't press tightly enough against each other to flatten the strands of hair. You need to make several passes for your hair to respond. This iron snags and rips my hair with EVERY pass. Maybe it could work better on thin/fine hair.
The device has a digital panel that is blue when plugged in but off or not up to temp, and green when the temperature is reached. If you leave the device plugged in but off, the screen continuously blinks blue. It does not time out. You have to unplug the device every time you are done with it, AND you have to reset the temperature every time you use it.
I ordered a replacement from a different brand altogether, but I would truly rather use a straightener for $20. That's how much I can't stand this.

I never right reviews but I felt like I needed to for this since the reviews are so mixed. This flat iron is AMAZING. Such a huge upgrade from my regular chi one I've had for a couple years. It straightens my hair in one go which i've never experienced. My hair also stays straight all day and the next day when i normally have to straighten my curly hair a couple times a day to keep it fresh. There are some reviews saying your hair snags on it but as long as you aren't hurriedly raking it through your hair that is not a problem. My hair is so smooth after using and I definitely recommend especially for this very affordable price.

This straightener doesn't work it pulls my hair

Had to buy quickly, but happy with purchase! Smooth glide though my thick, wavy hair! Kept straight all day and looked good next day! Heated up fast! Learning how to turn on was a little weird, but now had got it down! Last iron turned on when plugged in! Small and can travel well! Over all happy with this iron, after I used it a few times!
Love this soo much ❤️ from 🤍🖤🤍🖤
If you have thick hair like me this is so worth it ! I have thick hair and this makes my life so much easier but it takes a while to get my hair perfectly strait but my sister loves this tool and she has such long hair I would recommend!!

I highly recommend this flat iron. Works like salon style iron. Great on African American hair

I love how sleek my hair is after using but it does pull my hair here and there. Other than that it works wonderfully!

Purchased this because lady said it worked good and I'm sure it does but not for thick hair!

I have super thick, frizzy, mid-length hair, that never seems to stay straight. i have been looking for a good straightener that will get rid of the frizz a few hours after washing it since i wash my hair almost every night and straighten it a few hours after. i used this tool around 2-3 hours after washing my hair and letting it air dry and it turned out great! my hair wasn't that frizzy like it usually would be and it took me around 20 ish minutes to do my whole head (i have very thick hair) i was surprised! only one issue is how it pulls my hair out with the gaps in between the plates. it honestly is so disappointing considering how well it straightens my hair! i try to avoid putting my hair through the area with the gaps but it's still annoying. but besides that i love it and recommend!!

I've been trying to find a good product that would actually straighten my wavy thick hair. This is not it. It heats up fast but when using it pulls out hair. There's a gap between the plate and the actual tool and your hair gets stuck.

I am completely shocked that I have found a flat iron this good! My hair is so frizzy and curly, that no straightener worked on it! I tried everything but my hair would just not stay straight for more than an hour. I've been using the Remington wet to straight flat iron, and it's worked wonders, however, my hair was left wavy a few hours later. Right as I got the notification that my Ulta package arrived, I tore the box apart and began using the Hot Tools flat iron. When I tell you m jaw dropped, I am not kidding, my mother walked in and told me to shut my mouth. Anyway, my hair is smooth, straight, and shiny. I love it! However, the smell of the flat iron at first, the new metal smell, is annoying, but wears off after the first try.

GET THIS! I have bought more expensive irons, and this works better than any I have used. It works best for giving a pin straight, shiny look without pulling out my hair. It literally glides and produces a smooth finish that works better than any hot tools ceramic iron or other iron I have used besides a babyliss; for the price this works just as good but alot cheaper! I have 24 inch asian/latin straight bleached level 10 hair with Demi permanent color, and it didn't change my color or burn it. Using at 325 the outside of the iron does get warm when you are using 2 hands, but its not bad and its an equal bargain for the look this produces. The titanium black gold is absolutely amazing!! My hair is pin straight, silky and soft; and it heats up in under 10 seconds. Although it may take longer to straighten if you have long hair, it really produces salon quality results that last for days! I have compared it to other similar irons, and this one outperforms my other irons every time. I dont have to do multiple passes either, one pass and it works amazing! I would recommend taking your time and using this iron because it leaves the hair so smooth its insane! The plates compress down and give such a great shine that you can literally hear the plates buffering the iron like glass! I love this hands down the best I have used in years for this price point and super light weight! Definitely can keep up with irons well over 100 dollars.

I wash and dry my hair everyday, then I straighten it. This iron makes my hair so soft and shiny, I am so happy with Hot tools! I bought my second curling iron the same day as this (a smaller barrel) and I love all 3 items by Hot Tools!!!!

I love this flat iron more than my Chi flat iron....should have saved my money the first time
Ashle from Tulsa oklahoma
I tries it on my boyfriends hair and his hair is super thick tight curls. I used it on 410 and it was alright. It was straiht but not as staright as it could so I pasted by the hair one more time on the highest setting 450 and it made the hair super silky and smooth! I have very curly kond of lose curls so we will see how it works on my hair. Will probably have to use the highest setting too to get the desired look I want like at the salon those things get pretty hot! So far its worth the money just have to try it on myself.

Heats up fast, plates are large for bigger sections of hair, long swivel cord

I bought this flat iron because I've owned other Hot Tools products and they've always worked well. This straightens well but pulls your hair in the process creating more damage. I do not recommend.
Wesley from Virginia Beach, VA
Not totally in love yet. It does make my hair super smooth and shiny but there is a small gap between the base of the plates and my hair always gets snagged and it pulls a ton out. I only place my hair about halfway down the plates and it get rid of the problem but that is just annoying to have to do in general.

My straightener broke after 8+ years and the old brand I used had poor quality ratings. I have a hot tools curiling iron and it is my FAVORITE hair tool. I am starting to love this just as much!! Love the 2-hour auto shut off feature. Great for thoae rushed mornings, just in case!!
