- Prior to using the PMD, it is important to thoroughly cleanse the skin, making sure that it is free from all make up, dirt, and oils. Once the skin is clean, allow it to dry completely before you begin.
- Before using the tool on your face, practice on your arm and on your neck. These areas are not as sensitive as the face and will allow you to get used to motion and the way a treatment is performed.
- Use the white disc first. This disc is our most sensitive disc. It is important to see how your skin responds to this disc before moving on to more abrasive discs.
- After you have tested the unit on your arm and/or neck and feel ready to move on to your face, use a free hand to pull the skin tight in the treatment area and continue to move the PMD Personal Microderm in an upward motion across the skin. Do not make more than two passes over one area during the treatment.
- Following the treatment, use a toner to neutralize the ph balance in the skin and a recovery moisturizer.
- After each use, clean the cap and the disc with rubbing alcohol or an antibacterial soap.
- Wait 6-7 days between treatments.
Precautions: The Personal Microderm should only be used once a week. Microderm removes the top layer of dead dull skin and your body needs one week to rejuvenate. Be patient. Use it consistently and you will see results. Anyone using chemical peels or products containing acids including hydroxy acids, malic acid, lactic acid AND/OR retinoids or retin A ingredients, must not use the Personal Microderm at the same time! This may cause skin to be too sensitive and use of the Personal Microderm is not recommended. Before it is safe to use the Personal Microderm, you must discontinue use of these products for at least seven days. Consult your doctor or dermatologist if you are unsure that the Personal Microderm is suitable for your skin.

The face discs are longer with a smaller disc head and the body discs are shorter with a larger disc head. There are corresponding caps--a face cap and a body cap. The color of the disc represents the level of disc. White is ultra sensitive, grey is very sensitive, blue is sensitive, green is moderate, orange is coarse, red is very coarse, black of intense and yellow is very intense. It also has one setting for suction (strong) and disc rotation, fast.. The Classic comes with a total of 7 discs ranging from ultra sensitive to moderate. The Elite Pro is cordless, and charges in the included charging base. It has three settings - low, medium and high. The highest setting matches that of the setting of the Classic model. The other two setting will be a slower disc rotation and a lower suction--this is great for more sensitive skin. The Elite come with a total of 11 discs that range from ultra sensitive to very coarse. The shorter discs will need to be used with the shorter cap that has a larger opening. The longer discs need to be used with the taller cap with the smaller opening. The body discs can be used on the face and the face discs can be used on the body--they do exactly the same thing as long as the color of the disc is the same. Each color of discs has a different level of aggressiveness. It is important that you work through the disc in order or aggressiveness: white, grey, blue, green, orange, red, black, yellow--and do not move to a more aggressive disc than your skin can tolerate.Was this answer helpful to you

DO NOT twist or turn the disc while removing or putting on as this could strip the disc and the graspers on the metal rod so that no discs will fit properly. We have found that it helps to get leverage on the disc. - Official Answer By PMD - Brand EngageThe Personal Microderm can cause redness and irritation. After a treatment it is normal for the skin to sting, but it should not burn. If it burns, either the disc level needs to be decreased, or the Personal Microderm need to be moved more quickly across the skin. Redness can be cause by the suction and the removal of the top layer of the skin--these both cause the blood to rush to the surface of the skin. This should last only for an hour at the most. If there are lingering red marks, then the disc being used may be too agressive for the skin or the disc was not moved quickly enough across the skin.Was this answer helpful to you

You want to find the disc that fits you skin and provides the proper exfoliation and stick with that disc unless you skin does get more sensitive. If the last color you used provided a good exfoliation (skin stings and is irritated, but it doesn't burn) keep with that disc. Too costly and basic
I've been using off and on for two years. Even after purchasing at 50% off, I still think its very overpriced for its value. Exfoliating and using AHAs produce better results without the tugging and stress fhis seems to cause on skin.

Good purchase for dry, flakey skin
Since I turned 40, my once oily skin suddenly became dry. To make matters worse I fly twice a week for work to a super dry climate. My skin has been so flaky and gross. So glad I'm able to get this level of exfoliation. Can be tricky to use and takes some practice.
