Most Helpful Positive Review An improvement, of sorts. To start, I don't use this product to set my makeup. I have other setting products that do that. So I can't speak to how well it works as just a setting spray. I've also seen comments about how this spray has lead to makeup breaking down on others. I haven't had that problem myself, but that should be taken with a grain of salt because again, I've already set with other products.
What I do use this product for, primarily, is to reapply SPF throughout the day. I was previously using the Coola SPF setting spray, and that experience dictated what I was looking for in a replacement. First I wanted a spray I felt more comfortable throwing in my bag. Coola's is taller than Milani's, and made of a heavy glass bottle that clanked around and constantly had me worrying about it breaking. Milani's is shorter, lighter and made of plastic.
Next I wanted something that wasn't quite as irritating to my skin. Coola would leave some areas of my face stinging, and I had to hold my breath and squeeze my eyes shut for almost a minute after spraying because the alcohol was so strong. Alcohol is present in most setting sprays, but I've never come across any this strong.
Finally I wanted something a bit more cost effective. I was going through 1 almost every 2 weeks. 60$+ each month is too much for something I'm just washing off at the end of the day. Milani's is more than 20 bucks cheaper, and I get more product!
It's not perfect. I would love if it had higher SPF, and I'm not sure I'll be able to use it come summer as it does have a tiny bit of a weird sunscreen greasy factor to it. But the only real drawback here, in my opinion, is the smell. I'm not a fan of scented products and this is certainly scented. I haven perfumes that are subtler. The scent is somewhere between sunscreen and fenugreek, a weird mix of melancholy and over-synthetic-sweetness. It's the reason I took off a star, and it's the reason I still consider myself in the market for a new SPF setting spray.
Most Helpful Critical Review Milani Forgot the "setting" part in the setting spray Seriously, do not waste your money if you want to use this setting spray for actually setting.
I typically love milani products and was so excited to hear about a setting spray with SPF since skin care is incredibly important to me. This product was over ambitious because it tried and TOTALLY missed the mark. It leaves and oily, greasy residue that does not dry down, almost like a regular spray on sun screen. It does nothing for setting makeup though and actually breaks my makeup apart, even when using it with matte primers, foundation, and powders that are my normal uses (so it's not like the other products are the problem). I honestly hate this product and I would have been better off spraying water on my face. At least water dries eventually. I've used the product as directed, shaken it up and tried using in different ways. As a typical fan of Milani, they would be better to just advertise the product as Milani brand sunscreen, rather than "sunscreen setting spray".
It DOESN'T make it last.

This is my second bottle! I like it because it does what it says and it really holds my make up and it's very affordable. Now, it does has a very strong smell! It wears off but it's quite strong the first 30 min

Sofie from Seattle, WA
I bought this for spf protection when I wear makeup, but the smell is horrible. First, it smells like alcohol, and then it smells like some kind of nasty spices. No, just no!

The smell is so strong and unpleasant. Makeup does not stay put and it also gave me a rash.

The worst setting spray I've ever used 1
Cait from USA
I've tried just about every brand and type of setting spray under the sun. This one is definitely the worst I've ever tried. It broke my makeup DOWN instead of setting it, and it BURNED. It felt like acid on my face. Some of the spray made it into my eyes after I opened them and the pain was awful. Not to mention it made my face (I have dry skin) look super oily and greasy. I like a lot of Milani products but this is garbage.
Worked Well! 4
Aubrey T from Texas
I wanted this for a festival and it worked great! I was outside from noon to midnight and my makeup stayed put. I typically burn around my nose and cheeks if I don't apply enough sunscreen but this setting spray combined with a primer with SPF kept me from burning.
(I don't really sweat a lot around my face and I have combination skin if that helps with determining if this product is right for you.)
Don't let this thing touch your face 1
Annie from North Laurel
This setting spray smells like alcohol, burns your skin and eyes, and melts off your makeup. Don't buy this
Yes, this is a great setting spray 5
Lucy's Mum from Salem, OR.
I tried this spf spray because the store was out of the regular variation. It IS a good spray to help your makeup stay put all day, but after l used this up l switched over to the mattifying spray, which btw, is an EXCELLENT setting spray. I wish that these sprays would deliver a continuos spray just by keeping your finger down on the pump, instead of just delivering random spurts.
Felt like a chemical reaction on my skin 1

Awful. Don't recommend. Stick with the OG Malani setting spray that stuff is amazing - but this was a flop
Dewy Finish is an understatement 1
Destiny from San Antonio, TX
I'm an oily-skinned girl. Idk how your first ingredient can be alcohol and STILL have it leaving spotty + greasy on your skin.
Maybe? 3
Abby from Houston, TX
Friends had good things to say about it, so I bought it. I was slightly disappointed that makeup still came off on my mask, but I did like the SPF and the dewy finish it gave me. Would probably purchase the other variations of this made by Milani before purchasing again.
Not good if sweating 3
anna the banana from Santa Monica, CA
I like the product because it makes it easy to reapply sunscreen throughout the day. However, I used it during a really hot day and I was outside sweating a lot. I wasn't doing any high intense physical activity but it was hot enough to where you could just sweat standing still. Anyways, the sweat carried the product into my eyes and I had to wash off all my makeup and used nothing but regular sunscreen that day.

it left and felt like greasy oily mess on my skin and made me look like i dumped oil or water over my head. i tried to dry it off but it still did n't work :/
Burns your eyes 1
Talia from New York
This product is horrendous, which is surprising because Milani has always treated me so well with their products. This spray burned my eyes, then made me tear up, ultimately ruining my make up. To top it off, the smell is so unappetizing. Please skip on this one.
It smells awful 1
Lisa S from Puyallup
It is so awful smelling. I can not use it. Just be aware it is so strong and gross smelling. I honestly recommend finding something else
Do not buy! 1
DaisyCloud from Escondido, California
Not only will this product give your face a warm, tingling sensation, it will also completely melt off the plastic cap if the product touches it. This spf setting spray leaked inside my drawer and the plastic cap melted off leaving oil and a very goo-like residue. I fo not recommend.
Excellent product! 5
JBDestiny from Teaneck, NJ
This was a re-purchase. I'm so glad I found this and wish it were available in more places! This is a fine spray that sets makeup while also giving effective everyday sun protection. Sharp "sunblock" smell dissipates quickly.
First ingredient is alcohol 1
Rachel from Erie pa
I was so excited to buy this product because I use sunscreen daily but have a hard time reapplying it because I wear makeup. When I sprayed this in my face it smelled so strongly of alcohol and when I peeled back the ingredients list it was one of the first ingredients.
to oily 3
sandC from Ark
my skin looks like i just put cooking oil on my face. i have tried this with 3 different powders, in one hour I'm wiping my face off, and it was irritating my skin. by the end of my work day I'm a hot mess. will not purchase again.
What you expect from Spray SPF 2
Emma from Texas
Just some background: I live in Texas it gets really hot in the summer, I have tried this for about a year, I have acne prone combo skin.
It's exactly what I expect from a spray SPF. In concept it's a great idea, realistically it's not. You need about one and a half teaspoon of sunscreen for your face. That's about 10+ sprays of this, keep in mind not all of the spray lands on your face some goes into the atmosphere, this is 2oz. With that said this doesn't last long if you're reapplying this properly and for the price point, it's not worth it. BUT what makes this a mildly decent product is if you decide to pair this with a powder SPF and using this to set it when reapplying it does help the SPF powder. Would I repurchase? maybe if it went on sale, they reduced the price of it, make it a higher SPF or they made a bigger bottle instead of 2oz. Overall this is okay, I really don't know if I would recommend this, maybe if you have a good powder SPF and are okay with the price and the amount you get then I say go for it. But beyond those reasons I wouldn't recommend it.
Terrible 1
Lesha from Albuquerque, NM
I purchased this through the Milani website. I was specific looking for an SPF spray to use over makeup. On days I don't wear makeup, I use my typical SPF which I love. I did my entire face of makeup and grabbed this to try. It completely ruined my makeup. My Inglot gel eyeliner was creased literally everywhere on my eyelid as well as on lower lash line area. Completely broke down my foundation on my nose and cheeks. The shine is SO bad that I just look like I have oily skin. I fixed it The best that I could but it's a lost cause. I'll have to rewash and reapply my makeup all over again. What a bummer! The scent is so alcohol heavy it choked me up. It's not a fine mist and does not spray evenly on the face. It's sticky. It's just terrible. I will be throwing it away immediately and will not repurchase or recommend to anyone. In fact, I'll be steering them away.
