I finally bought this dryer after months of reading the reviews and justifying the cost. I have long thick hair that takes forever to blow dry and straighten. I dread the process!!
I used this blow dryer for the first time this morning and loved it!! It dried my hair evenly & quickly. My hair was not a massive frizzy mess once it was dry. I would invest in this product and the product line again and again.
Note: So the ulta store in my area has 20% off coupon out right now, hence why I bought it now. I went to check out and the clerk told me it was not good on Dry Bar brand. I was bummed but wanted it anyways. As she rang me up I mentioned that I had seen on the online reviews that people had used this coupon. Well sure enough she did a price check and scanned the coupon and it worked! We had to void and redo the transaction which saved me $50! So don't be afraid to ask them to try the coupon 😉.
I purchased based on such great reviews. I hated the color but decided I could live with it if I loved it. I was surprised at how heavy the dryer was, especially with the attachment on. The cool shot bottom was not easy to press or use and the buttons were in an awkward place on the handle. I kept turning the dryer off accidentally. Also, the cool shot button was not cool enough for me. The filter cover was hard to take off. It didn't dry my hair any faster than my old 1875 watt Revlon which I had for 5 years. I have overprocessed, coarse but thinning hair. If my hair were healthier this may have given me better results. I only noticed a slight difference overall but not enough to keep it. I tried it twice before returning it. It's just too pricey to justify keeping it. I believe with the right drying techniques such as using a roundbrush and the right products like Kenra's blowout spray, you can achieve great results with most any hairdryer without spending a lot of money.
Where has this been all my life
Who knew a good quality hair dryer made such a difference! Mmmm ch more effective and less damaging to my hair for sure
Built to last
I have had this dryer for over 7 years and it is still going strong. I have medium length thick wavy hair and I use the narrow nozzle on the medium heat setting, it takes about 12 minutes to dry my whole head (versus the 20 minutes it used to take). I do not recommend using the high heat setting as it does get very hot.
I purchased this dryer less than 5 months ago and have used it only 4 times, because I normally just air dry my hair. Today I brought it out and started to dry my hair and the motor started making a loud rattling noise inside. I turned it off and I'm not planning to turn it on again. I called Ulta where I bought this in 4SRanch San Diego and they said to contact DryBar direct that "they should understand and want to know about the issue". It doesn't sound promising after reading others who have had issues. This is very disheartening and so unfair. When you spend this much money on a product it should last longer than 4-5 blow dries. Very disappointed in Ulta for not helping more and lack of confidence now in getting anywhere with DryBar.
Broke within 9 months, customer service was a joke
When it worked, it was fine. I prefer Babyliss, Dyson, and T3 dryers to this one.
As I mentioned, it broke within 9 months. Drybar's customer service was extremely unhelpful to the point I gave up trying to get my dryer fixed or replaced. So, $200+ went down the drain.
I should add, I had never misused, dropped, or damaged the dryer in any way. I used it 3-4x a week, put it in my drawer after I finished, and never traveled with it. It simply stopped working. I was told by customer service I "must have damaged it in some way." Ummm okay?
Since then, I've had both babyliss and Dyson dryers as well as an older t3 I use when I go home to visit family. All easily outperform this piece of junk.
I really like this hair dryer. I have purchased cheap ones in the past but my two daughters assured me that a good one would work better. I have thick hair and the Buttercup blow dryer dries it quickly! I have only had it for a week but so far it has made a difference in styling my hair.
