Ok, so I want to start this out with that I have very dry and color treated hair from years of having a bad stylist until about two years ago when I moved and got a new one . Now, this product is amazing because I tend to be heavy handed with creams/lotions and I end up putting on a little too much. This spray can is an absolute god send! Full disclosure, my hair is so dry that I use Miracle It's a 10 leave in first sprayed in my hands and rubbed through my hair and combed through wet hair, then I use Ouai Hair Oil from the middle of my hair to the ends, also combed through, then I use this hot toddy heat protector from the middle of my hair to the ends also combed through then I blow dry. I use more hot toddy before I straighten or curl and my hair is so soft, has zero frizz, and my hair feels like its never even seen color treatment. People say the smell is overpowering but I disagree. Maybe because my hair is so dry it absorbs most of the smell so its not as bad? Seriously thought my hair has NEVER felt like silk before until I added this Hot Toddy to my routine. THANK YOU DRY BAR
I bought this to replace the biolage one that I hated. This Hot Toddy can is small nut comes with a large price. I did not like that it can only be used on dry hair, I prefer to add my product when my hair is damp. The can is aerosol, so the mist chokes you when it comes out. My husband even told me to turn on the fan, but he's so sensitive about girl stuff.... My hair was dry, soft and shiny (I used Dry Bar Liquid Glass) after using my big ceramic round brush and my buttercup blow dryer (I'm all about dry bar!) SIDE NOTE:
I don't always flat iron my hair, so I want something that also protects against the heat from the blow dryer. So I was left with pretty shiny hair with a curl at the ends. I applied the Hot Toddy spray and it was like I added a dull layer of spray over my hair, then I flat ironed it. The result was not one I was happy with at all, I could not run my fingers through my hair anymore and my shine was completely gone. I want heat protection and shine, I know there are other products out there that offer both but come with a price tag. This product has a laundry list of not so great ingredients. So if you're willing to dish out the money and are not worried about having the all natural, paraben free blah blah blah stuff. Keep looking, Paul Mitchell has a few good ones, comparable in price. I have very tick hair, past my shoulders and is color treated only at the roots very 6 weeks. I have a natural wave and lots of frizz. I hope this helps someone!

I use this product every time I blow dry my hair and use my curling wand. It's lightweight, doesn't way down your hair and keeps it soft and smooth after heat use.

I tried this more than a few times and I'm glad they have a return policy. It smells so bad and doesn't work, so why even bother? I'm glad I got the small bottle, even though they tried to sell me the large (didn't tell me there was a small option...).

Got this free when I bought shine spray and now I'm hooked on it. I have thick wavy hair and when I use this my hair looks great and it seems to do a good job protecting

The woman helping me at Ulta recommended this and even though I prefer and told her I preferred sprays that go in while my hair is wet still I decided to give it a shot. I used this for about 2 weeks and while it helped keep my hair fresh and styled in between washes, I noticed my hair was getting fried even more so than before! It does not protect well from heat products at all. It has a very strong scent and a strange powdered texture. Would not recommend this at all.

I have thick natural curly hair. I apply heat to my almost daily. This product is now my absolute favorite! It doesn't weigh my hair down. Nor do I experience product build up. Love the scent. It smells fresh and settle.

I recieved a small size as a gift with purchase one day and oh my stars it was a game changer. I have thick, bleach blonde, medium coarse l, dry hair. my whole life my hair has had a mind of it's own frizz situation. I used this spray before I straighten my hair and it makes it so soft, relaxed and shiny! I even like the smell. normally I'm a more is more person but not with this stuff. a little goes a long way so I do a light spray in sections and avoid too much at the root so it doesn't get a greasy look. I will forever be a fan!

I use it with my flat iron, curling rod. No problems not sticky.

I was so excited to try products from this line honestly. At first I loved how light the spray felt & how it was also very light on the amount that came out when you pressed down on the applicator. Even though it is super light, no matter if you apply the smallest amount of spray, your hair always left with a gross & sticky residue. I thought I applied too much the first few times, but after even spraying the lightest amount I possibly could, hair is always sticky after using.

Smells ok, protects hair from heat well and leaves it not dried out.

I don't feel this is the best product to use for heat protection. I will say I enjoy the ease of the spray but my main issue is the smell. The smell is so strong I want to gag. It is also very drying. Would not buy again.

I gave it a 2-Star, because it did work as a heat protectant, but I CANNOT get past the smell. It smells like stale cigarette odor trying to be masked by a perfume. I did not have time to rewash my hair this morning after use, but am dying to get home this evening and get this smell washed out. If they can improve on the scent, it would be a great product.

The smell can be pretty strong at first but it goes away pretty quickly and ends up smelling pretty neutral. So far it's done a pretty good job at protecting my hair and it makes it super soft and nice. I wave loose curly hair, and what i do is spray it on a section and brush it out before heat styling.

The smell is gross and not something id want my hair to smell like all day.... a previous comment described it as "smelling like the 90's" and I would agree with that description.

I found the fragrance of this product very unpleasant. Will not buy again nor recommend.

I use it with my hair straightener as a heat protectant.

I love the way this spray seals my hair when flat ironing. No other spray leaves my hair this shiny, manageable, healthy after a blowout. And the blowout lasts for day's with some touch ups at the roots. This spray even holds up well in the Georgia heat and humidity.

I tried this as an alternative to living proof's heat protectant spray (that I have used religiously for years) and wasn't impressed. There is no doubt that this product protects your hair against heat, but it makes my hair smell and feel like cotton candy. It left a very sticky texture, and I don't like that I can't run my fingers through my hair easily after straightening. I also found that my hair wouldn't hold its style and stay straight and tame.
Sammy B from Sacramento, CA
I wanted to love this so bad but I sprayed my hair after waiting a couple of minutes it immediately felt greasy and sticky. It's hard to work with on your hair! I tried this multiple times with literally squeaky clean hair and it still made my hair feel and look like 3-day old greasy hair. Not too cute....after curling my hair I had to go back in with dry shampoo to make my hair look somewhat decent! The smell is good though!

I have shoulder length, fine/thin hair. The first time I used it, I sprayed all over my damp hair; proceeded to blow dry and then sectioned my hair into 7 sections, had my flat iron on 250*, sprayed each section and then used my flat iron. Some reviews say turn up the heat but honestly my hair was too hot to touch after one pass so I knew not to risk it. It does help with frizz but not flyaways. It did give a healthy shine. But after an 8 hour day, my hair was greasy and the ends of my hair tangled. (I thought maybe because I got the build up on my scalp.) second time I tried it, I let my hair air dry for the most part but then ends, sprayed the ends and blow dried. It made my hair sooooo tacky that I had to use a wide tooth comb to blow dry. Then when it came to flat iron, I sectioned the hair and only sprayed from mid shaft to ends of hair. When through the whole day and my hair just felt tacky/sticky and it tangled again at the ends. What I have found that works for my hair is the OUAI hair oil for deranged and moisture and the bumble and bumble invisible oil Heat/UV protectant primer.

I've been straightening my hair daily for about 13 years but I haven't ever used heat protectant spray until recently (I know, I'm dumb.) I've only tried a few and this is my favorite so far, but it does leave a bit of stickiness in my hair, which I guess is unavoidable with any spray. The scent is pretty strong but it smells nice and I'm not allergic to it which is rare with any heavily scented products. I also love that it's meant for dry hair because I don't like putting products on my hair while it's wet or damp since I can never tell if I'm over-doing it. It does tend to linger in my hair especially by the end of the week even though I wash my hair 5-6 times a week. However that may be because of my shampoo (I use Redken All Soft, which sometimes I feel doesn't cleanse enough.) Overall I like it a lot, but for the price I wish it didn't leave as much residue as it does.

This is lightweight and has a nice scent Love that this product is cruelty free!
